Chapter 332: Come With Me

Chapter 332: Come With Me

Viviana was let go and holding her throat, she took a deep breath. After inhaling smoke her lungs were not fine and getting pushed to the wall didn’t help her.

"Are you okay, Signora?" Giovanni patted her back to help her as she coughed. "I’ll get you something to drink..." he rushed away.

Viviana turned to her side hearing a thump. A flash of white pushed the mean cop Madison to the wall.

’I’m sorry... I am sorry. I didn’t know she was your woman..." Madison raised his hands.

He was shocked to see Leonardo Vitale in the hallway. They’ve investigated the Kastello family and learned of the entanglement with the Vitale family. Rumors flew after the incident at Evander Kastello’s funeral. Leonardo had shown interest in Leander’s wife and Leander pulled the gun on Leonardo. They thought that the Vitale family wanted the Kastello family for that incident.

But why does it appear that he’s here in her aid? He must be here to claim her now that her husband is dead. But it doesn’t matter. He was caught hurting the woman belonging to Vitale. He’s dead.

"What are you looking at?" Leonardo shouted at Viviana. "Get here."

Viviana took in a deep breath. Her airways were burning and she couldn’t even breathe properly.

"He says he’s dead, brother," she said. That was the one thing bothering her.

"Bro...Brother?" Madison started to tremble.

"What’s that on your cheek?" Leonardo held her chin and asked. "Is that from the accident? Why isn’t it treated?"

Leonardo only cared about the obvious bruise on her cheeks. He saw the finger marks on her cheeks and his lips twitched with anger.

"Who did this?" he shouted at her.

"Whoa," Viviana covered her ears. "Ask him," she pointed at the mean cop.

Leonardo turned his attention toward Madison.

"Ask him where my husband is," Viviana said.

Now that Leonardo is here, she could sigh in relief as she can get to the bottom of it.

Leonardo was not impressed with her. "Stupid," he mumbled and shoved the gun into her hand. "Come here..." he pressed Madison’s hands on the wall. "Shoot."

Viviana looked at the gun in her hand. Madison was whimpering in fear.

"What are you..." she forced the gun back into his hand. "Brother, I need to find Leander. Will you help me?" she asked. She didn’t care about some sellout cop.

*Bang* *Bang*

Two loud shots echoed in the hallways. Viviana covered her ears. Madison was whimpering on the ground with his hands bleeding. She didn’t think he’d gain use of his hands again as there were gaping holes in his palms and his bones had scattered. The good thing was he was already in a hospital and he won’t lose his life out of blood loss.

"Now we’ll have to find Leander," Viviana said. She could concentrate on nothing but on Leander. "And Steve... Is he in the hospital? What happened to Luca?" she asked.

"Shut up and come with me," Leonardo held her wrist and dragged her out. "My helicopter is parked on the terrace..."

"No!" Viviana put her foot firmly on the floor making it hard for Leonardo to drag her. He was talking about helicopters. Where is he going to take her?

"What?" Leonardo gritted his teeth. "Just follow me."

"But~"

"Just..." Leonardo almost grabbed her throat. But he took a deep breath to compose himself. She’s not the other woman he’s known all his life. She is his sister. She is family. He should treat her respectfully.

"You’re pissing me off badly, sister. Do you see me? I am wearing a f8cking buttoned-up shirt for the first time to meet you. I was pissed with Dad and gave him the silent treatment for meeting you without me. I only talked to him today because he heard of what was going on here. I came to this shithole place to bring you back home and look what are you doing... Come on... Let’s go..."

"Leonardo, I am indeed happy to see you..." Viviana said. He was indeed covering up his chest. She could see that he was trying to help her. "But, Leander..." The more Leonardo avoided talking about Leander, the more she got scared.

She cowered in fear thinking Leonardo might hurt her as he raised his hands.

"Leander is dead, sis," Leonardo held her shoulders.

Viviana met his eyes. It was one thing when the cop said it but when Leonardo says it. Her heart shook in its foundation.

"Your husband is dead," Leonardo added. "He arranged a meeting with the executive director of the commission but the rat Stefano sold him out. He placed the explosives and surrendered to the cops. He’s now getting transported to the capital city. Leander didn’t see that coming, sister. He was betrayed by~"

Viviana leaned backward. Her head hit the wall. "It can’t be... It can’t be..." She shook her head. "He won’t die..."

"Come with me," Leonardo pulled Viviana.

"I’m not going with you. My husband~"

"I am taking you to your husband," Leonardo said.

Viviana didn’t think he meant it but she followed him. What if he was not lying? What if he knows where Leander is?

As they were walking, Giovanni met with her with a hot cup of coffee in his hand. Viviana took a couple of sips before noticing the sign in front of her.

Mortuary.

Viviana’s heart fell to her stomach. She dropped the coffee cup and the dark coffee splashed all over the floor.

"Come in!" Leonardo opened the door. Giovanni stayed outside.

The cold air hit her face and she shivered. "He’s not there," she said. How can Leander be in a mortuary? He’s not dead.

Leonardo walked in. "You can see for yourself... He’s not... You’ll know for sure..."

Leonardo opened the cloth over a body that was kept on the table. Viviana could smell fire in that freezing cold room. She didn’t want to be there. The last time she was in once such places to identify her parents. Why is she back here? She should not be here so soon! Why?

"If you cry, you won’t be able to see properly," Leonardo spoke softly. "His tattoos are visible. You’ll know... Come see..."

Viviana didn’t want to but before she knew it, she was taking a step forward. She looked at the body. The face was charred badly and parts of the skull and face were missing as if the explosion happened behind his head. Only a tuft of dark hair was left and that too was burned. His chest was not burned fully.

Her eyes ended up on the angel tattoo.

No... No... No way...

Leonardo continued, "The doctor said that there was already a burn mark on his back that went through a lot of grafting surgeries...? Sister? Sis... Sis...?"

The world around her went dark and Viviana dropped to the door.
