Chapter 306: Revealed Truth

Chapter 306: Revealed Truth

Viviana wanted to look at Viola’s face. She thought she wouldn’t be surprised by Viola anymore. But Viola is the gift that keeps on giving.

"Isn’t she your granddaughter?" Viviana asked. "I’m happy taking care of her. What purpose did your words serve? To make me feel bad? Why? What do you expect me to do? Abandon the baby? Ignore her? Hate her for being my husband’s child? Give an ultimatum to Leander? What do you expect? Do you hate Leander that much you would extend it to his child? Couldn’t you have left it alone and let us deal with our issues ourselves? Aren’t you the elder?"

Viola laughed. "You really are stupid! What do you know?"

"Am I though?" Viviana scoffed. "I got a baby without going through the inconveniences of pregnancy. The mother is out of the picture and I can be the mother if I want to. So, what if someone else gave birth to her? I am going to be her mother. I find that a better deal! I got a daughter without any of the pain that comes along with childbirth."

"Go," Leander pushed her away. She did what he asked her to do. He could see the bewilderment on everyone’s faces.

His wife is the queen of surprises. In a household where no one knows what love means, her love would only invoke bewilderment and mockery. No one is going to understand her.

Viviana walked away. She could sense that Leander has calmed down a lot. No matter what, she did not like Leander hurting his mother. She gave birth to him and raised him. He cannot hurt her.

"Don’t touch my son’s baby!" Viola shouted and tried to get Viviana. Leander blocked her. He didn’t want Viviana to think that the baby was Evander’s. He didn’t think that she would look at the baby the same if that were the case. He needed her to think that the baby was his.

Viola was taking none of it. He shouted at Leander. "Why are you stopping me? You are a shameless sissy boy, aren’t you? You’re a disgrace to the family. Impotent imp!"

Viola scoffed and Leander was too stunned to say a word. He couldn’t even understand what that woman was about to say.

"Isn’t that why you shut up and let your wife carry another~"

Leander raised his hands to shut the nasty mouth of that woman forever. Viviana cannot know that she lost a baby. He successfully kept it from her and he didn’t want this woman to ruin everything. His wife wouldn’t be able to bear the pain if that horrible truth is outed.

But before he could do anything, he heard Viviana speak up.

"Who are you calling impotent?" Viviana stepped forward. Her voice was shaking. "How dare you say this about him? Apologize, right now!"

Viviana was fuming with rage. She couldn’t believe Leander’s mother could say this to him. How can a mother humiliate her son like this?

"Apologize!" Viviana shouted again. She stepped forward and was in the face of Viola. Viola was a little taller than her but she was not afraid. She didn’t care that she was Leander’s mother.

No one can humiliate her husband like that!

And if anyone should be blamed for the lack of children between them, it should be her. She is the infertile one.

Leander saw how animated his wife is. She surprises him often. But is this even a surprise? She loves him and this is how she protects the ones she loves.

Maybe... he can give them the grand reveal now itself.

"Steve," Leander jerked his head.

"Yes, Capo," Steve nodded.

Barnabas who was watching the interaction between Leander and Steve knew something bad was going to happen. "Be alert!" he shouted.

Peter who was watching the women argue was stunned.

"Cover the don," Barnabas shouted and rushed in front of Peter.

Viviana neatly slipped behind Leander when she saw everyone in the house pulling out their weapon. They pointed it at Leander and Steve.

"The baby," she pulled Leander’s shirt. "I’m getting her."

She turned to get the baby but Leander held her hand. "Wait..." he pulled her closer. "It’s time for you to stand by me, Lemon," he smiled.

Viviana’s heart skipped a beat seeing the serene smile on his face. But is now really the time for romancing? There are GUNS pointed at them!

"I want to kiss you so badly," Leander said and hugged her around her waist.

"Leander!" she tried to wriggle out of his hold. But he hugged and kissed her head.

She twisted out of his hold and noticed Steve walking to Barnabas.

"Shoot him down!" Barnabas shouted.

The staff were holding their guns. But none of them moved an inch. They all followed Steve with their gun as if they were covering him.

Barnabas’ face went pale with fear. "Don! Stop them... Hey, stop!" he screamed.

Peter looked around. "What are you waiting for?" he shouted at the staff of his house.

But no one even looked at him much less listen to him.

Barnabas put his hand to his holster trying to get his gun. But he couldn’t get it out as he was in a hurry. Steve walked to Barnabas, kicked his knees, and pushed him to the floor.

Steve then pulled out a flask from his jacket. Viviana raised her brows. It was the same flask Leander got from her earlier—the tea Martha brewed for her.

"What is this?" Barnabas screamed.

Steve held Barnabas down and poured the tea down his throat. Barnabas tried to spit it out while screaming. Peter tried to move, but a couple of his staff pointed their guns at Peter gesturing for him to sit still.

Barnabas cussed and struggled with all his might. but Steve was not letting go. Holding him down, he made sure Barnabas swallowed at least half of the tea.

Viviana stood there without moving an inch. She saw what was happening but she didn’t understand what was going on there.

"What is going on, Leander?" Peter asked Leander.

Leander didn’t answer. He turned at Viviana. "Watch," he said and pointed at Barnabas.

As Viviana watched Barnabas, he started to have a seizure. He started frothing out of his mouth and nose. Within a minute, his seizure stopped and so did his breathing.

Viviana raised her brows. "Poison?" she asked Leander. "That tea had poison?"

Leander wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her to his chest.

"Leander! Is this an uprising? You couldn’t wait until I die and organized a coup?" Peter shouted.

He probably was scared already, he started coughing.

Viviana pressed her cheek to Leander’s chest. She was shaking. If she drank that tea, she would have died. But Leander got that tea from her. He knew there was something wrong with it.

Who would have poisoned it?

Martha?

Viviana didn’t think that Martha would do that. She’s made her tea plenty of times. She also cooked her a lot of times. Why would she do it now?

Oh... It’s not Martha, is it?

"It’s Mary," she mumbled.

She was the one who wanted to quit.

"Smart Lemon," Leander kissed her head. "Can you stand," he asked. He could feel her entire body shaking.

He was glad she was this afraid of dying. Not so long ago, she chased death. She has changed a lot and all for the better.

Viviana nodded. She came out of shock. She had to. She wanted to get the baby. Only when she holds the baby in her arms will she be relaxed? She turned to get the baby.

Leander walked to Peter. "Uprising? Coup?" he scoffed. "Did you think you were the one spying on me, Grandpa? Heh! Did you think poor little Leander trusted you so much and left everything in your competent hands and was sulking in the corner? Did you seriously think that I fell out of love with my wife?"

Viviana stopped and watched Leander. Leander walked to his grandfather. Peter stumbled back and sat on a chair. Leander advanced to him like a lion stalking its prey.

"Did you think I would sit on my thumb and let you murder my wife?"
