Chapter 304: Adorable And Weird
"What do you think of Isabella?"
"Emma?"
"Emily?"
"Arianna?"
"Sephora?"
"Elizabeth? Nah... Lisbeth is more... stylish, don’t you think?"
"Leander, what about Sophia? It’s a cute name, don’t you think? Wouldn’t it suit baby more? I mean, look how cute she is... She’s like a rose. Maybe Rosetta would be perfect. Or Daisy... Or Lily. She looks so pure, isn’t she? Aww, look at her chubby cheeks... She’s like a cherub. Angelina, maybe? Leander, why are you silent? Say something. Leander..."
Leander almost jumped out of the car unable to bear the excitement of his dear wife. He did ask her to choose a name but he didn’t think she would bring a headache for him. He couldn’t even get angry at her as he saw how excited she looked.
She got ready pretty eagerly. She spent more time preparing the baby though. She doesn’t like carrying purses but now she was carrying a big "diaper bag" that contained the baby’s necessities.
And she did it all with a cheery smile.
"Do you really want to raise the baby?" he asked. It’s her last chance.
"What?" Viviana held the baby close to her chest. "Why are you asking that? Have I ever complained? Raising a baby is not very expensive. I can handle it with my money if you want to. I know that crib is ruined now but if you want, I will return the money. Who knew I needed to insure a baby’s crib? I am not parting with this baby. You will have to pry this baby from my cold dead hands if you..."
Leander sighed. Who knew his wife could talk this much and she is offering him money? What’s with this recent development?
With a pout, Viviana stopped. She knew that sigh. He was disappointed. But she was not going to give up the baby. What will he do to the baby? Unless...
"Is the mother asking for the baby, Leander?" she asked. Her heart started to pound. She had the baby for less than a week but she already formed a great attachment to the baby. She won’t be able to handle it if she has to give up the baby.
She will have to give up the baby if the mother returns. That is the right thing to do even if it would kill her to do the right thing.
"No," Leander said with squinted eyes. He saw the distress on her face and caressed her cheek. His anger vanished. His voice turned gentle. "She’s out of the picture."
Viviana sighed in relief and hugged the baby.
"I told you. I don’t care about the name. Finalize a name and tell me. You just have to inform me, that’s all I ask. Just. Inform. Me," he stressed out the last part hoping that she would get it.
Viviana scoffed and scooted away from him. "You’re a mean mean man, Leander. Heartless, cruel, mean, jerk..." she mumbled.
Leander smiled seeing the pout on her face. Adorable!
"What?" he asked holding back his laughter. It’s been a while since he’s teased her.
Viviana glared at him. "Nothing."
"You were saying something. What was it?"
Viviana’s face lit up as she thought of something. "I want a car seat for the baby. I should have bought that with the pram. I forgot. It’s not safe to hold her in my arms while traveling," she said.
"Where will you fix the baby car seat?" he asked.
"Where else? On your seat, of course," Viviana said. What kind of question is that?
Leander’s smile vanished. "Where will I sit then?" he asked.
"In the front passenger seat," Viviana said as a matter of fact.
"Why would I give up my seat?" he asked. He’s been traveling in this seat for ages. Now because of this little poop ball, he will have to give up his place by her side?
How is that fair?
"Then I will travel in my car. You can have your seat," Viviana grumbled.
"Whaaaaaaat?"
Leander found his wife’s suggestions absurd. It’s not even a week since he brought that baby and already, he’s been relegated to her lowest priority.
"Cruel woman," he mumbled.
Viviana chuckled. She liked having an upper hand against him. It’s rare.
"Ah, almost forgot the tea Mary made for me," Viviana searched for the thermos flask in the baby’s diaper bag.
Martha gave it to her. She got used to drinking Martha’s tea lately. Martha’s hands had magic. She made amazing tea. She needed to calm down and she craved Martha’s tea.
"Here you are..." Viviana got the flask.
Just as she was about to drink it, Leander yanked the flask from her hand and threw it to Steve in the front passenger seat.
"What was that for?" Viviana pouted.
Leander grinned.
With a scoff, Viviana turned to look at the window. He’s so petty.
Leander cleared his throat. Steve gave a meaningful nod at Leander. He then stored the flask safely.
"Rose Gardens," Viviana sighed.
She still was not comfortable going there. The last time she was there, terrible things happened. She took in a deep breath. She cannot deny Peter access to his granddaughter. He might be a monster but maybe looking at his granddaughter’s face, he will change his ways. He will regret his past sins and repent.
After the attack on Leander, Peter must be worried. Seeing his granddaughter might help him calm his nerves.
She did not love Peter; she never can. But for her love for Leander, she can bear with Peter.
"Does your belly hurt?" Leander asked. She was on her period but she was always busy these few days. Usually, she would curl up on the bed. He didn’t see her lying on the bed often.
"No, I’m fine," Viviana shrugged.
Only then she realized that even though she was on her period, the pain wasn’t unbearable as before. She was not even using pain pills.
"Maybe the medications worked and I am cured," she said.
She hoped that was the case. Even without surgery, if the pills worked, then that means...
She can get pregnant!
But what will he say?
She still remembered how mean Leander looked when he said that he will never give her a child. "Leander," she looked at him.
Leander kissed her stopping her from asking anything. He saw in it her eyes. He knew what question she will ask. But now is not the time.
The car came to a halt.
"Don’t bear with anything in there," Leander said holding her cheek. "Don’t stand on ceremony. Don’t let anyone bully you. I will get really mad at you if you allow them to disrespect you," he said.
Viviana blinked. "But..."
Leander furrowed his brows and grabbed her cheek. "Really really mad. Remember, I love you so so much," he said, turned, and alighted from the car.
Viviana tried to get out but her seatbelt was stuck. She thought Leander would stop for her or at least carry her bag. But he walked with a larger gait as if he forgot she was there.
She was perplexed. Once he reached here, he acted distant like in the past. She didn’t dwell on it and carrying the baby and the bag, she alighted with Steve’s help.
Here goes nothing!
Taking in a deep breath, she walked in.
