Chapter 285: Waning Patience
Chapter 285: Waning Patience
Viviana couldn’t handle the intensity of him. She tried to calm him down, but he was not slowing down. He kissed her and Viviana found herself matching his pace in no time.
After the dry spell, Viviana felt like she found an oasis in the desert. She got drunk on his scent as he enveloped her. She touched him enough to convince herself that she was not dreaming. Leander was indeed holding her with so much passion. It was as if he was letting go of whatever he was holding back and came back to her.
Please be back, love. I miss you...
Leander finished after her while showering kisses on her forehead. Viviana hugged him and didn’t let go. She had a lot to ask him.
He slipped to the side. Wiping the perspiration on his forehead, she looked at him. As her slender fingers comforted him he closed his eyes.
Viviana opened her mouth to talk. Before a word come out of her mouth Leander opened his eyes. Viviana saw the barrier he’s been keeping up for some time. Her heart sank fearing what he’d say.
"Don’t ask me anything," he said kissing her ear. "Please, don’t..."
Viviana bit her lips. She so wanted to ask him what makes him act this way. But he does not want to talk about it.
But he cannot avoid talking about it. What is he even thinking? She didn’t know what to do. What should one do when the one you love is pulling away from you? What is the right approach?
It hurt so much.
Was her inexperience in a relationship the bad guy here? She couldn’t understand a thing. Just a minute ago they were wrapped so tightly that not even air got between them. They were what they were best. They were lovers.
But now, she felt like this deep chasm was between them.
What even are they now?
"Do you think I am taking advantage of you, Melanie?" he whispered in her ear.
He was wet with perspiration after the intense exercise they did on the bed. He trailed his big hand gently on her naked body. Her heart yearned for more of the warmth but her mind warned her not to revel in it.
His heart was not with her.
"No," she said. It’s not taking advantage if he didn’t betray her expectations. He gave her what she wanted. He showed his love when they were united.
"You had no reason to come to me for sex," she said. "You have plenty of options if you just wanted to satiate your needs."
If there were not even some feelings left in his heart for her, he wouldn’t have embraced her with such passion. It’s not like he lacks the capacity to get any woman he wants for his needs.
"You’ve changed," he smiled with a glimmer of pride in his eyes.
Viviana pressed her lips.
Has she, though? Has she changed?
Maybe.
She is not thinking right now that he got bored of her or that it’s her fate. His kisses and touches give her that much confidence that even if the man himself acts like he didn’t care, she still believed that she holds his heart.
Is she delusional now?
"Is that a good thing?" she asked. She was not feeling happy at all.
Maybe if she hadn’t changed, he would be hugging her and coddling her. He would kiss her until he lets her know how much he loves her.
"It is," he got on top of her and kissed her forehead. "You’re not some orphan with nothing."
He got up. Viviana sat on the bed hugging herself and followed him with her eyes. He picked up his clothes from the floor and walked to the bathroom.
"Yeah, I am your wife," she said.
She can’t be an orphan when she is his wife. And if only she gets a speck of miracle, she can carry his child. If that didn’t happen, they can adopt. And then, she will have a family of her own.
Leander stood by the closet and looked at her. She couldn’t say clearly whether his eyes were clouded because of his odd smile or if he was sad.
"Remember that for when I break your heart," he said.
Viviana blinked her eyes. Why did he say such an ominous-sounding thing?
"Break my heart?" she got down from the bed. "Why? What did I do?"
He turned and walked inside not meeting her eyes. She followed him.
"Leander, answer me. What is this all about? I can’t... understand... If it is about the Vitale family, I never knew them. I can keep it that way for the rest of my life if that’s what you want. Leander, please... Tell me what’s wrong, please...."
She held his arm.
"I don’t care who you are, Melanie..." he wetted his lips. "Prepare to leave this room. Don’t make a scene."
He walked into the bathroom and Viviana heard the door lock. He never locked the bathroom door. He had added one more new habit to his list.
She didn’t want to stand there and wonder about what he thought for the rest of the day. She felt like if she thinks about him anymore, she probably would end up having bitterness in his heart.
How much more can she take? She was willing to open a dialogue many times and all he does is shut the door on her face.
Her patience was waning.
She went to the garden and played with her puppies. She cannot ignore training them even for a day. They are very intelligent but at the same time, stubborn. If she gives them leeway, they would think that they could be the alphas. They cannot be left to their devices.
Leander watched her from upstairs. Seeing her with the dogs gives him such joy. He sees an entirely different side of her. She’s a leader and she proved that with those dogs.
He was not wrong about her. There is something about her. He didn’t fall for some spineless coward. His wife can rule the world if she puts her mind to it.
When she told him that she used to take care of Caucasian shepherd dogs back when she was living in the orphanage, he thought she was exaggerating, kind of like when she said she had a shark friend.
But he can see that she is good at leading stubborn giant dogs. It takes strength and discipline to train dogs. She had it.
He heard his phone ringing with a text notification. His lips curled without any effort.
[Are you free? I miss you. Just now I thought about that time when we sneaked out for an icicle on summer break. We had to escape the prying eyes of my mother and you came up with the plan to leave my room by jumping out of my window. I still remember the first time we held hands, Leo. I miss that... We used to be so pure. Can I see you tonight? Nicholai wouldn’t be home until 11.]
Leander read the whole paragraph.
[Helena, I never brought you out to buy icicle. I never held your hand. You should talk to someone. You’re not fine. I am saying this out of care. Good bye. Do not call me or text me again. It’s not fair to your children.]
He sent the text with no hesitation. He then blocked her number and deleted her contact from his contact list.
He already got what he wanted from her.
He had only a few more things to do.
And then, he will have to wait until his plan succeeds.
