Sitting on the chair, Viviana couldn’t control her tears.

Peter and Barnabas were sitting in the front row. She bowed her head as tears dripped on her hand. Leander was sitting by her side, silently watching everyone. He held her hand sensing that she was crying.

"Do you want to leave?" he whispered in her ear. "I’ll send you home."

He cannot bring her home with him. His presence will be needed here. But he can send her home and find some excuse to tell the guests.

"I’m fine," she wiped her eyes. "It won’t look good if I leave now."

If she wanted to humiliate the Kastello family, she would do that. But she did not want to humiliate her husband. She will make sure everyone knows that Leander has an obedient wife. Otherwise, those misogynistic men would think low of Leander.

She will not let anyone think low of her husband.

Barnabas with a content smile rubbed his lips. Just like he wanted, he got the news channels to cover Evander’s funeral. Not much was revealed except that Evander died suddenly and peacefully in his home.

Peter was so mad he wanted to imply the hand of the Vitale family in the death of his grandson. He at least wanted an audience with Vito Vitale. He expected a personal apology and some business dealings with the Vitale family.

But the smartass heir to the Vitale family contacted him and threatened that he will publish the secret video of Evander getting assaulted for everyone to download.

The Vitale family does not make empty threats. And with that was gone the small chance for the Kastello family to collaborate with the Vitale family.

They were reliably informed that a new commission is formed to investigate the business dealings of the Kastello family. Leander used to be the guy who handle these issues in the past. All they used to do was to tell him that the government is forming a commission and he will make sure the commission gets dismantled or get the desired results they want.

Till now, no commission has found anything against the Kastello family. With enough motivation, anyone can be made to turn a blind eye to the mountainous evidence in front of them.

But they did not trust Leander this time after he abandoned Evander.

The Vitale family has clout in the government. Peter was planning on asking Vito to act on behalf of the Kastello family to tamper with the commission.

But that plan has faced a major hiccup.

So, he planned to garner sympathy for the Kastello family by using the death of Evander. Anyone’s heart would melt seeing a frail old man grieving for his grandson.

They are also planning on starting a cancer foundation in memory of Evander to turn people’s hearts soft toward the Kastello family.

Barnabas saw the couple mumbling with each other. He didn’t think that she was crying for Evander. She must be worried that her chance to find roots in the Kastello family by presenting an heir is ruined.

"Katerina said it was a boy," Barnabas whispered to Peter. "Nathaniel did some tests and confirmed..."

Peter sighed. Evander’s dead and the heir to the Kastello family died even before seeing the world. It surely is a bad time for the Kastello family.

"Postpone everything for a few months," Peter said.

He wanted to see if she can give them a live heir next. Leander likes her and it would be better if a child is conceived out of love. She is not needed to raise the child though.

Men raised by women don’t fare well in the Kastello family.

Barnabas was shocked as he understood Peter wants to postpone the elaborate plan, they made to kill that woman without alerting Leander. They successfully enacted a detailed plan that is still fool proof with Lucius’ first wife. They can do it to Leander’s wife too.

Has Peter turned soft because of the recent advancements? Did he forgive Leander for abandoning his brother to get sodmized?

He did not like that. But then Peter only said that he wanted to postpone. Maybe there is more to it. But with the Vitale family at odds with the Kastello family, now would be the chance to do what they wanted.

Viviana heard the murmurs among the crowd and looked at Leander. He was squinting his eyes at the entrance. She looked there.

No way! Is that... Why are there so much cameras?

"What is he doing here?" Leander fisted his hands.

Viviana held his hand. This is a funeral and he cannot act up. Not when there are these many cameras around.

She looked at Leonardo Vitale standing by the entrance and answering the questions the reporters threw at him. Nadia Donatello was with him.

Nadia’s disappearance made a big news recently. Surely, her reappearance with Leonardo Vitale is going to cause a lot of speculation.

Nadia had a smile plastered on her face and Leonardo was saying something nonstop. She wanted to know what he was saying but she knew she cannot play with her phone right now.

Leander stood up and whispered something to Peter. Viviana feared if a gunfight might break out here. That guy shot her husband not so long ago. She was not going to take it easy when he was back.

Peter waved his hand and Leander took his seat. Viviana looked at Leander. With his hands balled to fists and the nerves in his neck popping out, he looked like he would murder Leonardo any time.

Leonardo walked to the coffin with Nadia hooked to his arm. Everyone around knew that Evander was engaged with Nadia. To see Nadia attend Evander’s funeral in the arms of Leonardo who killed Evander appeared to be a slight from the Vitale family.

But what can the Kastello family do against the great Vitale family?

Some of the attendees who were known associates of the Kastello family stood up to receive Leonardo Vitale. It was obvious what was happening.
