Leander watched her talking non-stop. She was whispering most of the time and he couldn’t say what she was talking about.

But she was having fun. Her face was blooming. That was enough for him.

Steve knocked the door. Leander walked to the door and opened it.

"Evander went to meet Leonardo and he can’t be contacted from last evening. Barnabas called," he said.

Leander nodded. It’s not news to them. Leander had a feeling that today’s date will be marked as Evander’s date of death.

But hey, what else can he do? He tried to warn everyone in the family. And he was stopped from acting against the Vitale family. His hands are tied, right?

"Barnabas asked you to make a visit to Leonardo Vitale," Steve said. It was his duty to inform everything he was told.

"When and where has the consigliere arranged a meeting?" Leander asked fully well knowing that no meeting would have been arranged.

Leonardo Vitale laid a trap and Evander willingly went and got caught. He won’t accept a meeting with their side. His grandfather wants him to go guns a blazing into the Vitale stronghold to save his dearest grandson.

Does he have the guts to do that? Yes. Would he have done that for his brother in the past? Yes? But does he want to take that risk now?

His heart’s answer to that question was a big fat NO.

Steve understood what Leander was meaning. "I’ll come to you with the details," he bowed his head and retreated.

Leander is the heir of the Kastello family. He cannot walk into a place uninvited and risk his life. The don should know that. And yet he wants to save his other grandson at all costs. What are they hiding?

Leander closed the door and walked to the balcony. He pulled Viviana inside and closed all the curtains.

"Don’t stand in front of windows," he said and went lounging on the bed once more.

He thought that Leonardo might be her brother but after the drone incident he was not sure. He didn’t want to take any chances with her life.

"He’s still not answering phone calls?" Peter asked Barnabas.

Viola let out another wail seeing Barnabas shaking his head. She fell on her knees. "It’s that cunt!" she banged her hands on the floor.

Peter rubbed his forehead with his fingers in deep thoughts. "Can we do something?" he asked.

Once again, he was left to wonder how depended the entire family was on a single person—the street boss of the family. Is it true that Leander carried the entire family and its businesses on his shoulder for years?

"We cannot contact Leonardo Vitale and Vito Vitale is unreachable. The Vitale family’s consigliere was polite and seems open for a dialogue. He just told me that the timing is not good. I asked him about Evander and he was not giving an answer. The Vitale family has particular interest in Leander though from the words of the consigliere. If left to me, I’d say to..." Barnabas shrugged.

Evander is not even a big part of the family. It’s not good to anger Leander further. It was beyond stupid to send Evander to Leonardo thinking he can negotiate anything. Too bad Leander was hell bent on getting revenge on Leonardo otherwise Leander would have been sent for the negotiations.

The Kastello family needs their allies. Donatello would be a great ally. And they need new business to continue their monopoly in the South.

"Are you..." Viola didn’t continue to speak and started hitting Barnabas. She could understand that Barnabas is telling Peter to leave Evander to die.

"Stop it!" Barnabas shouted and slapped hard on Viola’s cheek to get her off him. She was scrawny but her hits hurt. "Your son was foolish enough to think he can successfully negotiate anything! Did you think that he succeeded in business because of his own talent? It’s the fear Leander instilled in everyone’s heart that his entertainment business boomed. Take it to your dumb head that he was a failure!"

Viola who was thrown back to the wall by the slap sobbed silently. "But he’s my son... He’s my son..." she sobbed.

"Yeah, he’s the useless eunuch who provoked the wrong~"

"Barney!" Peter shouted to stop Barnabas. He’s going a little too far to call his grandson a eunuch.

Barnabas walked to the bar to pour a drink to calm himself down. That f*cking b*tch clawed him like a cat. He’s stinging everywhere on his leg.

"I cannot lose another son, Peter... I stayed silent with Leander. And then you took Lucious and I kept quiet. I will not let you lose Evander..." Viola fell at Peter’s feet. "Please, save my son..." she begged.

Barnabas rolled his eyes as he gulped down the strong alcohol.

"Go, take rest," Peter placed his hand on her head. "Don’t ruin your health."

"No! I won’t go until you promise me, Peter. Promise me that you’ll bring my son back," she held his hands with her cold hands.

She looked unkempt and her face had lost the luster.

Peter’s hand shook as he placed them on her shoulder. "Your son will be back in this house by tomorrow. I promise."

"I trust you." Viola stood up and waddled out of the room.

"What are you going to do?" Barnabas asked Peter.

Peter rubbed his glabella. "You are right," Peter said.

Barnabas with a smirk gulped the rest of the alcohol in the glass.

It is better the shame of the Kastello family is eradicated by the Vitale family. At least, no one would mock the Kastello family for losing their member to the Vitale family. Barnabas didn’t think that the Vitale family would be crass enough to reveal the secret Evander was hiding if they let them take him.

They only have to find way to get the daughter of the Donatello family back. But Evander can help in the negotiations better when he is dead.

They even did a general checkup on her. She was pretty happy.
