Chapter 244: The Surgery

She didn’t know what to do when she was there, watching it happen. Especially when she can feel Leander’s hurt. She was in no mood for celebration.

Leander closed his eyes. He couldn’t see her face either. He did not want to see her face. Because if he even saw a splash of happiness on her face, it would ruin him.

He still loves his family and he felt guilty about his decision.

But she sounded somber.

"You want me to have kids?" he asked. She contradicts herself at times and he doesn’t understand her.

Viviana nodded. She wanted to have his children. But it’s only a pipe dream for her. Still, she wanted him to have children of his own. Maybe that’s her love for him that desires that happiness for him.

"Why?" he asked.

"Don’t you want to have your dining table filled with your offspring? Don’t you want a toddler running to you calling "daddy" in glee? Why do you not want that?" she asked. How can any man not want that?

Leander let out a deep breath. "It’s only for a short time. Toddlers grow into adults and then...If I want a welcome party when I get home I can get dogs, not children."

He couldn’t see any positives of having grown children. Maybe it’s the guilt he feels toward his grandfather. His grandfather loves him and he is not giving him what he wants. Won’t his child do the same to him? Won’t his heart break, then?

"What will you do if some woman says that she’s pregnant with your baby?" Viviana asked.

They are only married for some months. She didn’t think that there was no other woman in his life.

Leander was stunned by her question. His hold on her loosened. She sat facing him.

"You’ve investigated me very well. What did you hear?" he asked.

She sounded so sure. He wondered if there were rumors floating around without his knowledge.

Viviana shrugged. "I thought you protected your lover very well. Not much was known about your personal life. I didn’t even know you had cats. And..." She pressed her lips wondering if she can tell him what she truly thought.

"And what?" he raised his brows. He could see that she was hiding something.

"I thought you were gay and that’s why you were so secretive..." Viviana smiled goofily hoping he didn’t get mad.

Leander smirked remembering her saying that he was gay back when he met her to provoke him. They’ve been through a lot after that, and they are in a different place now. "Did your doubt got rectified?" he asked.

Viviana smirked. She does not have much chance to have an upper hand on him and decided to utilize this chance. "You still could be bi..." she shrugged.

"This little..." he pinched her waist.

Viviana giggled and hugged him. "Fine, you are straight as a pole," she said.

"You’re learning... " Leander climbed on top of her and kissed her.

He was glad he could successfully change the topic. She is thinking of him as this Casanova with secret lovers left and right. But she is the only woman he’s known all his life.

He couldn’t even imagine kissing another woman much less getting another woman pregnant. And even if by some chance a woman gets pregnant, he is not going to let her have the baby.

Once he decides something, it’s final. He does not want a child. And that’s it.

"You’re having the surgery the day after tomorrow," he said.

He didn’t want to spoil her good mood, but he will have to prepare her for the surgery.

Viviana’s heart skipped a beat. She slipped out from under him and sat farther away from him. He talked about not wanting children and then immediately tells her about surgery. She did not like that at all. "What surgery? I told you I am not doing a hysterectomy."

"Will you not jump to conclusions?" Leander furrowed his brows. She looked defensive as if he will hurt her. He did not like to see her act that way toward him when she was wrong.

"Then what surgery?" she asked.

"The conservative surgery the doctor mentioned. It will help you with the pain. How long are you planning on living with the pain? Let’s see how far that surgery takes you," he said.

Everything was prepared for the surgery. She can choose to have the surgery on her own which would be best for everyone. Otherwise, he will have to do it forcefully.

Viviana looked at him with a pout. She is scared to do surgeries. But judging by Leander’s expression she could see that he was not negotiating. He was informing her.

"What will you do if by some miracle I got pregnant?" she asked.

She herself knew there was a 0% chance for that. But she wanted to see his reaction.

"You are getting the surgery," Leander said and got down from the bed.

He didn’t want to talk "what if" with her. From what he learned from the doctor, pregnancy will be dangerous for her life. He will save her whatever it takes.

She will not like it if he tells her that. So, he avoided answering her. It’s not like there is a chance for him to make such a decision. Why spoil her mood for something that will never happen?

Viviana watched him walk out of the room. "Will you hold my hand throughout the surgery?" she asked. "I am scared."

He stopped by the door. "I will do everything to make you comfortable," he said looking at her.

"Thank you," Viviana sighed. "Then I will get the surgery."

She knew she doesn’t have another choice. It would be better if she submits to him when he does it out of care for her.

Leander smiled and walked back to he bed. He hugged her. "It will be fine. Don’t be scared."

"Okay," Viviana leaned on his chest.

She was not very happy about the surgery. But there is no harm in doing it for his sake. And if that surgery will reduce her pain, then she was willing to take the chance.

But deep in her heart, a thought popped up.

Everything will be so much easier if I die!

As soon as that thought popped up, she recalled the abysmal shout of Leander when he thought she was hurt. He jumped into the water even if he didn’t know about swimming. He said that he will follow her.

Maybe it won’t be over if she died. She would end up hurting Leander more if she died.

"I love you, Leander," she kissed him. "I want you to live happily for a very long time. For my sake, all right?" she patted his chest.

Leander smiled. "I love you too."
