Chapter 217: Dangerous But Handsome Opposites

Chapter 217: Dangerous But Handsome Opposites

That white suit-wearing guy was not fazed. He stepped in casually with a playful smile. With perfectly coiffed hair, he was handsome. And his chocolate brown eyes had beautiful golden streaks in them.

Viviana for a second got pulled into those beautiful orbs.

Why didn’t he button up his shirt? His skin is glistening, and his chest looks so...firm.

Hmm... Dangerous!

Viviana stood straight. She didn’t want to get caught admiring another man. She didn’t want to admire another man when she was standing with her husband. But that was the first time she had looked at a man’s bare chest, well, bare chest of an untattooed man.

She’s seen her father shirtless at times. But he used to be covered with hair. She wondered if they are making men hairless these days or if her dad was an exception.

Maybe men wax too... weird...But whatever floats their boat!

Viviana looked at Leander and slipped to his side. It was a small lift that could only hold six people and even with three people it was stuffy.

She didn’t know why she is getting to meet perfect male samples of the homo sapiens these days. There is the crème of the crop Lionel she recently got acquainted with. She would even consider him a friend. Steve is easy on the eyes too although he is older. Even Nicholai Palatini is a handsome man!

Maybe wealth makes men handsome?

The two men were bulky, and Viviana didn’t know where to place herself. She hooked her finger to Leander’s belt loop as she did before and stood behind him. Leander didn’t reach out to her or anything. He just stood straight with his gun still in his hand. He did not look relaxed.

Who is this guy? Why did Leander allow him to join them?

The other guy stood shoulder to shoulder with Leander with his legs spread. Viviana noticed that Leander stands like that too.

Maybe men cannot stand with their feet together?

She looked at her standing position. Her feet were touching. That was interesting. She never noticed it before.

She looked at the men in front of her. Both had the same posture. One was wearing black and the other was wearing white. Leander was holding his gun in his right hand and the other guy was holding it in his left hand. And from the back, both looked almost the same. Masculine and alpha.

But like mirror images—one angel and one devil. But who was who?

Ah... it should be the hanging tidbits between their legs... That explains the posture!

She leaned back on the cold metallic wall of the elevator. She was glad Leander got her fresh clothes. Otherwise, it would have been awkward.

"That was interesting...," the guy said. His voice was deep and strong. "Good to know you, Leander Kastello."

Leander said nothing. He didn’t turn to look at the guy either.

*Ding*

The elevator stopped at the basement level. The door opened and the white-suit guy stepped out placing his gun in his holster. Viviana took a step forward and stood by Leander’s side.

"Come with me if you want to live," the guy held out his hand. With his all-white suit and an electrifying smile, he appeared as an angel. The wall lamp behind him that almost caused a halo around his head helped his case too.

"Pfft," Viviana couldn’t help but laugh. "Are you a terminator?" she asked. "Come with me if you want to live..." she imitated his voice and laughed some more.

She really thought that this guy must be a friend of Leander. Otherwise, who else will mess with Leander like this? Leander was standing calmly by the side too. The gun he was holding was a little suspicious. But he was not exhibiting his usual protective gestures.

The guy laughed, winked his eye, and pointed at her with his index finger. He was suave, to be honest.

"Coming?" he asked again.

"Umm, no," Viviana laughed. "I’ll stay with my husband."

"That’s...sad," that guy smacked his lips. "I’m Leonardo Vitale, by the way..." he held out his hand for a shake.

Vitale? As in the Vitale crime family?

Viviana’s smile froze and she turned to look at Leander. He looked at her and nodded slightly.

"He didn’t tell you about me?" Leonardo asked. "Now I am offended..." his voice went deep.

Viviana looked at Leonardo. "Oh, I know about you. But I’m seeing you for the first time," she said. "Your reputation...kind of precedes you..."

Without knowing, her voice turned deep too. She was annoyed by this guy smiling for no reason at all.

"All good, I suppose?" he asked.

"Nope," Viviana shook her head. "Only terrible, immoral,...disrespectful things..."

She didn’t know where she got the guts to openly speak her mind, but maybe the presence of the musk-scented lion man standing by her side was the reason.

Leonardo laughed looking up. When he tilted his head down, his smile had turned sinister. "I like you. Come with me now and spare your husband’s life," he said.

What’s with his indecent proposal?

"Answered already," Viviana shrugged.

She knew what kind of man Leonardo Vitale was. But facing him, she was not scared. She might have been a little scared if she was alone. But she was not alone.

She has the lion by her side.

Leonardo’s smile got replaced with a frown. He was not at all pleased by her answer. But she didn’t care.

"You heard my wife," Leander who was silent till then took a step forward.

Viviana looked around to see them getting surrounded by a bunch of men. And among them was the fedora guy and he was on the phone with someone.

So, these are Vitale men?

She clutched Leander’s shirt and leaned closer to him. She started to get panicked. She couldn’t see any of Leander’s men there. Steve was not there either. She wondered what happened to them. If they took the stairs, they should be here by now.

And she could sense that the situation is escalating.

"Loud and clear," Leonardo said. He then waved his hand. "Beat him up and bring her to me..." his voice got deeper.

The men nodded and Viviana wetted her lips and pulled Leander’s shirt. She was beginning to get scared. Leander turned to look at her and smiled.

And just like that, all her fear vanished.

The men charged at Leander and Leander pointed his gun at them. In the distance, they heard the sound of police sirens. Someone must have called the police during the gunfight earlier. Come to think of it, the parking lot seemed empty too.

And Viviana wondered where Lionel went. He kind of disappeared in the hallway.

"No guns!" Leonardo stopped his men. "Not a single scratch on her!"

"Stay behind me," Leander patted her arm and kept his gun inside. Viviana didn’t know why he didn’t shoot those men and ended this quickly.

Leander removed his jacket and passed it to her and she got it. "My cuffs..." he thrust his wrists in front of her. He’s not used to having buttons in his cuffs. Viviana helped him with the buttons and he rolled his sleeves up while having his eye on the men in front of them.

Viviana was a bit confused with everything. Here Leander was, lingering and those men were all standing perplexed looking at each other’s faces. It was as if they were already afraid to take the first step seeing how calm and collected Leander was.

He’s called the lion for a reason.

"What are you waiting for?" Leonardo shouted.

The men came out of their daze and charged at Leander with their fists. There were five or six of them or probably more. Viviana couldn’t count.

The first guy aimed for Leander’s face. Leander blocked him and punched him in the gut. The guy slumped on the ground holding his abdomen.

Viviana was scared of the sound of fists hitting flesh. She might have heard something crack. Unconsciously she took a step back. She was scared of fights.

A couple of guys charged at Leander while the others readied for the next attack. Viviana covered her ears as Leander kicked one of them in the leg while punching the other in the face.

"You’ll be safe here," Leonardo held out his hand again. "I won’t take you away before he’s down," he said. His prideful smirk suited him and matched his menacing eyes.

"No thanks." Viviana stepped closer to Leander. "I am staying with my husband."

She meant it. Even if it is dangerous around him, and even if the other guy is not a scoundrel, and even if she trusted that guy’s words, she’d choose to stay with Leander. She knew that she will be safer with Leander. And it is proper for her to stay with her husband. She will not let Leander become the object of mockery. She’ll protect his pride.

The fight continued. And more men joined in attacking Leander. Viviana saw Leander’s fists shaking. He probably is hurting after hitting those thugs. He had brought four of the guys down. And there were still more guys. She worried for him.

She saw Steve and the other guys held by a bunch of gun-wielding men in the distance. And as she watched, the cop cars arrived.

Not good...
