Chapter 205: An Exchange

Leander said nothing for the rest of the ride. The partition was still up and Viviana didn’t know what he was thinking. Massaging his forehead with his fingers he looked to be pondering something.

She did feel a little bad for him. He might be struggling to choose one or the other. He’s lived his entire life for his family. He can’t just see them differently in just a day.

She was feeling mad at him. He was the one who stated that he is one flesh with her and that he’d leave his family. Well, he did leave his mother. Guess his grandfather and his brother do not get included in his offer.

Well, she can’t be mad about that. Who is she to get mad at him?

She looked through the window. It was a weekday and she saw couples walking on the sidewalk holding hands, families walking together and some walking with their dogs. It’s just a normal day for them. She used to have normal days too in the distant past.

She could only sigh. Everyone looked at the car she was in with awe. And they all kept a distance from the car. The lights were green at all the traffic signals and even when it was rarely red, the Rolls Royce zoomed through with no consideration.

Who’d have thought that her life would change this much in a couple of months? She was supposed to be dead.

She calmed down after a while. He asked her if she didn’t trust him. She did trust him. She knew he wouldn’t let her get hurt by his brother. But anything could go wrong.

She knows because it’s the story of her life.

She decided not to be too mad at him. He could have kept her safe by leaving her back home. But he is kind of insisting that she goes to the party.

She did think it was weird. Maybe, he is not trying to bring her to the party, but is trying to keep her near him...? There is that possibility if she wants to see the positive side of it.

She is relatively safer with Leander than at home, right?

Thinking along those lines lifted her spirit a bit. But still, when she imagined being in the same room as Evander made her skin crawl.

As she was still debating in her mind whether she was mad at Leander or not, the car came to a stop. It was the most popular nightclub in the city.

Viviana gulped. She even in her prime didn’t even think of visiting this place as this place was filled with rich fuckboys and socialite girls and the boys and girls who wanted to impress them. She heard that no woman who is over twenty-five is allowed inside unless they are from a wealthy family.

Men had no age restriction. They were restricted by the weight of their wallets.

In other words, anyone who is rich can enter in. If they are not rich, they will have to be young and beautiful. That was the criteria.

No wonder Evander chose this place.

She looked at Leander. No one brings their wives and husbands to this place. This place is known for its top-tier escorts and gigolos.

Why am I even here?

"I don’t want a gigolo. I don’t want an escort either. I don’t sway that way. I want a cigarette. Can you get me one? Or two? Or a pack?" she asked.

The least he could do for her is to get her cigarettes. She missed smoking.

Leander sighed. His eyes got distant, and he looked angry.

"I’m here for you. Can’t I at least have a smoke?" she mumbled. It’s like she does not have any free will. She should do what pleases him all the time. It’s not fair!

Leander knocked on the partition. The car started moving. Viviana’s heart skipped a beat.

Why aren’t we getting down? Where is he taking me?

Leander held out his hand.

"What is that for? I see no cigarettes in your hand," she said and turned her face. She was scared and she didn’t know what she was saying.

"Did sucking me dry sharpen your tongue, Mousy? You’ve turned into a lioness," Leander pulled her arm.

Viviana turned to look at him. He was smirking. Can he be any brasher?

"Not just the sucking, I think... Having a taste of the lion’s DNA did that," she whispered.

She tried to be all brash like him, but her heart started pounding and her voice went high-pitched. She was planning on licking her lips seductively like a temptress, but she ended up licking her lips out of nervousness.

His eyes were so powerful, she couldn’t handle staring at them for long while talking nasty like this.

Leander licked his lips. "Look at you..." he hissed.

Viviana curled her lips and turned to the side. It appeared that they were going around the block. So that’s what Leander’s tap meant? How did Steve understand that? Do those two have a telepathic connection? Are they aliens?

Viviana sank into her thoughts.

Leander’s lips curved to a smirk. He wanted to smack kisses on her and do her right in the moving car. Who can blame him when he has such an adorable wife?

She got ready just because he asked her to. She is letting him know that she does not like to be here. He wouldn’t have expected that she would talk back to him like this. She’s so adorable.

"Once we get inside there will be all sorts of sniffable rolls. You can smoke whatever you want there," he said. He does not like smoking, and he would prefer for her to not smoke. But if it would calm her nerves, she can have one.

"I don’t want whatever. I just want a plain old cigarette from a convenience store. Ugh!" she said, gritting her teeth.

What’s a girl got to do to have normal items around here? Why should everything be fancy and dangerous?

"Why do you like smoking, anyway?" he asked. He wondered how she developed that bad habit.

Viviana looked at him and furrowed her brows. "I smoke when I am happy to remind myself that my happiness is like the cigarette that gets burned to ashes—it will disappear. Plus, I heard it reduces the lifespan of its users. That sold me."

Leander glared at her. Of course! What else did he expect from her?

He held out his hands again.

"What?" Viviana was annoyed. It was mostly stress. She did not want to go inside that building. But she had no other way and it made her angry.

"Give me the knives," he said. She cannot bring knives inside.

Viviana pouted. "What knives?" she asked and gulped. How did he know?

Leander shook his head. He then opened the partition. "Steve, get a pack of ..." he looked at Viviana.

"Virginia Slim menthol...120s..." she said.

Steve looked flabbergasted. Leander without even looking at Steve closed the partition. The car came to a stop. His eyes never left Viviana.

"What? It helps with the pain, damn it! I don’t have to explain myself to you," she turned her face.

"Give me the knives," he asked again.

Maybe it was his gentle voice that gave her the courage, she protested. "Is this an exchange? In that case, I’ll keep my knives. Thank you," she scooted and leaned on the door.

She needed cigarettes. But not as much as she needed a knife.

"You won’t need the knives. Give them to me," Leander said.

Viviana pretended she didn’t hear him. Leander didn’t seem to be minding it much as he didn’t ask again. Steve knocked on the door. Leander got the cigarette pack from him and rolled up the window. The car started moving.

Viviana hugged her clutch closer to her chest. She was not giving up the knives. She adjusted the knives she kept in other places to hide them well.

The car stopped at the parking lot once again. Viviana was about to open the door when Leander pulled her thigh. Before she knew it, he was on top of her.

"One..." he said pulling out the knife she hid inside her belt. Viviana struggled to stop him but he got her clutch from her. "Two..." he smiled victoriously.

"Now the third one..." he smirked.

Viviana covered her chest with everything she had. She did not want to lose her last knife.

"Mousy," he tilted his head and tickled her. As she laughed uncontrollably, he slipped his hands in and got the third knife.

Viviana puffed with anger as he stopped tickling her.

"Do you have another one? Down there...perhaps..." he looked at her crotch.

"No!" Viviana crossed her legs. "I only brought three knives. I swear," she said.

"Oh, really?" Leander raised his brows. "Still... It doesn’t hurt to check, does it?"

He tried to find the zipper for the "pants" but she was wearing a jumpsuit. There was no zipper in the crotch area.

"Interesting..." he smirked. But the next moment, he pulled her leg up and rolled the leg of the pants up.

Viviana gulped. She didn’t think of this possibility. The pants were flared and that meant it came all way up.

She was terrified. She thought that she was smart but she did nothing to protect herself. Now she doesn’t even have the knives. What can she do?

"Stop it!" she pushed him away.

I am screwed!
