Chapter 175: The Host

But she cannot run away. She swallowed the lump in her throat and walked down the stairs. "Is she, our guest?" Viviana asked Leander with a smile.

"Please, come in," she then smiled at the woman. "I am Minerva."

"Hmm," Brie stepped in with a wide smile holding out her hand for a hug. "I’m Gabriella. Nice to meet you... Leander’s wife!"

Viviana was not up for a hug. She held her hand for a shake. Brie looked at Viviana from top to bottom. Leander placed his hand on the small of her back. Viviana didn’t like his hand there. But she didn’t want to move aside in front of that other woman.

Maybe Brie noticed that little interaction, she tried to say something. But before she could say one more word, Viviana shouted for Katerina.

"Please arrange a room for our guest," she said to Katerina and Katerina looked at Leander.

Leander didn’t even look at Katerina. He was happy that everything was going a lot better than she anticipated. His wife is taking charge as the mistress of the house. He doesn’t have to interfere. Isn’t it the wife who takes on the role of the host and takes care of the guest?

He is not the wife.

"Which room, Signora?" Katerina asked Viviana having been ignored by Leander who was lingering behind his wife for some reason.

If he had the guts to bring another woman to the house where his wife lives, why is he afraid of her now?

But Katerina will never ask Leander the question or anyone else for that matter. She values her life.

"That guest room..." Viviana pointed at the guest room Lionel stayed in the previous night.

Leander was delighted to see how dignified his wife was acting. Without him saying anything, she treats Brie as his friend. He should be rejoicing, but at the same time, he had this nagging feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Something felt wrong.

"Have you had dinner, Gabriella?" Viviana asked. "The dining room is that way. Forgive me for not entertaining you. I am having a terrible headache and will have to retire to the bedroom. Katerina will take care of you..."

"That’s fine!" Brie raised her hands with a measured smile. "Retire to your bedchambers...I don’t take offense." she pressed her lips to hold back her laughter.

Seriously, who talks like that?

Viviana cleared her throat. She herself realized how weird she sounded. But she didn’t show the embarrassment on her face and walked upstairs.

Brie watched Viviana’s back and, on her face, bloomed a smile. Leander furrowed his brows. Although he sensed no malice from Brie, he didn’t trust her entirely.

He had this weird feeling in his heart.

"Don’t you dare talk to her! You’ll stay here for only a couple of days. Don’t get near her. I’ll put a bullet between your eyes if~"

"Yeah, yeah..." Brie waved her hand and leaned to the side to have a look at Viviana. "She’s cute..." Brie smiled. "So," he looked at Leander. "She’s your type, huh? Short and cute... and a little weird, with eyes that hold many secrets..."

Leander glared at Brie. He was a little surprised. "You’re not going to tell me that she looks like Helena?" he asked.

Everyone who sees her thinks that she looks like Helena. Brie didn’t even mention Helena. He was intrigued.

"Helena?" Brie furrowed her brows. "Helena’s a snake. But she... she’s more like a ...cute little animal...like a..."

Leander almost said ’mouse’.

"Come to think of it... she does look like Helena a little, doesn’t she?" Gabriella placed her hands on her hips. "That’s just...It’s..."

Brie went silent in deep thought. Leander stared at her. She didn’t look any different from the days he knew her as his friend. Her curious eyes were shimmering.

But then he remembered how she hurt Lionel and all the good feelings went away.

"You can never come upstairs for any reason. And...do not~"

"Yeah, I won’t go talk to your wife." Brie finished his sentence. "Whatever!"

Leander snorted and walked upstairs. He didn’t know if Brie understood him. But he will kill her if she makes his wife cry.

Leander locked the office and went to his bedroom. He searched for Viviana, but she was not in the bedroom. He went to the closet, and she had just finished changing into her PJs.

Just missed!

Leander sighed.

But then he knew that he actually doesn’t have to walk in while she was changing to see her naked. He is her husband. He can make her naked when he wants to.

And if he makes her agree, that is.

He’s not going to hear "r@pe" from her ever again. That word scares him.

"Run a bath for me," he said removing his cufflinks.

Viviana looked at him blankly. She then walked to the bathroom, and he heard the water running. His lips curved to a smile seeing that particular wall in the closet. This morning, they...

He wanted her more.

He threw all his jewelry on the vanity and got rid of his clothes. He walked to the bathroom with a skip to his step.

He was very happy for some reason. He was able to get over his yearning for his mother’s unattainable love, got to see a new side of his brother, and more than anything... He has a perfect wife!

What more would a man want?

"Wash my back, Mousy," he said and stepped inside the jacuzzi.

He wanted to do her in the bathtub that night. He’s never done that before.

Viviana glared at Leander. But he was not noticing her anger and was grinning ear to ear.

Yeah, he is so chummy with his brother. And he has another woman in the house to go to.

Why wouldn’t he smile?

Viviana gritted her teeth and stomped into the tub.

"Wait... wait..." Leander stopped her.

"What?" she asked angrily.

"You’re not undressing?" he asked.

This guy... He’s seriously asking me to undress?

Viviana wanted to throw the porcelain soap box on his empty head.

"You were the one who said not to undress to wash your back!" she said holding back her urge to throw something on that happy face.

Leander smirked. "That was before... this is now..."

"Oh, really?" Viviana rolled her eyes. "What changed?"
