Chapter 164: Vitale Family’s Goal

Brie smirked seeing the muzzle of the gun pointed at her. "You want to kill me. Is she that important to you? Mentioning her warrants death?"

Leander didn’t say anything. He was waiting for her excuse to meet his wife.

"Oh, I know!" she clapped. "You’re mad at me for not waiting for you...I was... I thought~"

"I do not care for the past, Brie. I don’t," he said.

Brie looked at his sharp eyes and sighed. "So... it’s not about me... I get it...It’s about HER, your precious..."

With her hips swaying she walked to the small bar in the corner. "I know certain things that I can teach your wife if you let me. You’ll thank me later," she turned and winked at him. It was obvious she was meaning the naughty things between a man and a woman. But Leander was not wavered.

"Want some?" she asked pointing at the whiskey on the table.

Leander kept on glaring at her. She was smiling and yet he was not convinced of her smile. Brie shrugged and took a sip of the whiskey. "I get you’re careful. She’s in the eyes of the Vitale family, after all..."

Leander’s brows twitched and his hand holding the gun shook. He wanted to get surprised that she knows that detail. But he was not. She’s famous in this place and many men ask for her. With a little alcohol and a sexy woman playing to their fantasies, men talk and brag.

There is a reason women were employed for spying and were better at it. So, she might know about what she alludes to have knowledge of.

But he didn’t want to listen to her. He was too mad to listen. Also, if she knew it, by the network his grandfather has, he will have that information too. He does not have to rely on her.

Leander placed his gun back in the holster. He doesn’t have to engage in some meaningless conversation with her. He turned to leave. He’s said what he wanted to say.

"I was booked to entertain Leonardo Vitale, Vito Vitale’s heir, in a couple of days... In fact, a day after your birthday," Brie added to stop Leander.

Leander heard her. It was new information for him. They knew the henchman of the Vitale family was here. For the heir to visit the country now must mean that something serious is going to happen. And he did get curious.

Brie readily gave away this information while she is negotiating with him. That might mean that she knows a lot more. She wouldn’t have left all the cards open on the table just at the start of the negotiation.

It’s something regarding the safety of his wife. His heart wavered.

But his gait didn’t slow down. His grandfather has men everywhere and they will find out about everything. And he cannot negotiate with someone who reduced Lionel to tears.

He didn’t understand what she wants with his wife. After what that stupid teenager did to his wife, he didn’t think it would be prudent to allow any woman with feelings for him near his wife.

And even if Brie only had good intention to meet Minnie, she is a sanctimonious little mouse. He didn’t think she’d be happy to talk to a prostitute.

No way.

Brie watched him leave with tears in her eyes. "Leo!" she ran behind him and grabbed his arm before he reached the door. "Please... I want to... "

Leander shrugged her hand off and walked out of the room.

"You need me, Leo!" Brie shouted. "You know where to find me."

Her shaking voice echoed in the resplendent hallways that had seen and covered the pain of a thousand women who walked through the halls. Leander put his hand in his trouser pockets and walked out.

Brie closed the door and leaned on it. Covering her mouth, she let out a deep sigh. "I’m free..." she mumbled. "I’m free..."

She slid down the door and sat on the floor. She looked around. She is now housed in the best part of this wretched place. To get here, she has lost a lot. But even then, this is the only place she knows. For all her adult life, these rotten walls have been her home.

"Where will I go?" she sighed. But after some time, her lips curved to a smirk. "What will he do if I go to his house?"

-----

"Keep an eye on her all the time. Kill her the moment she even looks in the direction of the Orchid Gardens," Leander told Steve. "Lionel must never know."

Steve nodded.

"Orchid Gardens," Leander told the driver. It’s lunchtime. He promised her that he’ll be home for lunch. He wanted to be there.

Just as they were near the Neolith bridge, a woman suddenly walked to the road in front of his car. The driver braked hard and steered to the right to avoid hitting the woman.

Leander’s hand automatically went to his gun. It might be a trap.

"Capo..." Steve turned and looked at Leander as they recognized the woman.

Helena Palatini!

Leander rubbed his forehead. He must have had some bad time going for him. Every woman he knew is trying to make his life a living hell.

"Drive," he told the driver.

The bridge was just a double-laned road that often doesn’t have much traffic. There were no cars around and it won’t be hard to get past that very pregnant woman.

But Helena rested his hands on to the hood of the car ensuring that they can’t even move an inch.

Leander let out an audible sigh. He then lowered the glass. "Move out of my way, Mrs. Palatini," he said not even bothering to stick his head out.

Seeing his window open, Helena walked to his side holding her protruding abdomen. Her steps were heavy and there was perspiration on her forehead as she was standing in the sun for long, waiting for him.

"It’s one thing you refuse to help, but~"

"Move," Leander told the driver and the car started moving.

Helena banged the car. "Why can’t you listen to me..." she shouted.

Leander didn’t look back and pressed the button to roll up the window glass.

"...I’m targeted by Vitale...!"

He heard a desperate shout from Helena just before the glass rolled up entirely.

Leander knitted his brows.

If she is telling the truth, what is the Vitale family planning?

Leonardo Vitale is going to be here...?

Targeting everyone... What is their goal?
