Chapter 101: Stand Off
Chapter 101: Stand Off
Viviana tried to stop Lionel, but he stopped her before she said anything. "I want to hear nothing more. Not now...Not now, Bellissima," he stared into her eyes.
Viviana pressed her lips seeing Lionel’s pleading eyes. She could understand it’s not just the weight of the story. He is minding Leander. She didn’t know why. She wanted Leander to know. She wanted Lionel to know the whole story too.
She knew Lionel figured out that Darcia in the story is her. And he might have figured out the mafia family she refers to might be the Kastello family. Lionel might want to maintain his friendship with Leander and not want to continue the story in front of Leander.
But I don’t have time. I’m going to be dead today.
Viviana closed her eyes and bowed her head. A tear drop fell on the back of her hand and she immediately wiped it on her clothes.
"Go to the kitchen and get me a beer," Leander patted her back.
Viviana opened her eyes and looked at him. Her eyes were wet with tears and he probably sees it too. But in the end, does it matter? She doesn’t matter. Everything she wants gets missed. All she wanted was to finish her story, but...
She let out a sigh.
She will have to die with no one else knowing her story then. She can accept that. Accepting things that never go her way is her way of living. She can endure, she will endure. She hopefully doesn’t have to endure long.
Death is coming.
Leander watched as she walked out of the room and down the stairs dragging her feet. The moment her head disappeared from his sight, Leander closed the door.
"What’s this all about?" he turned at Lionel.
Lionel scoffed. "You must be the dumbest person on planet earth if you still don’t know what this is all about."
"Oh?" Leander leaned on the wall bending one knee. "Maybe I am the dumbest person on earth," he smiled.
He could sense that she was talking about his brother and Barnabas. Now, his brother does some pretty ugly sh*t. But r*ping helpless girls is not one of them. He doesn’t have to r*pe. Women flock to him.
So, what exactly was she talking about?
Leander knew it was not that. It was something more. Lionel tries to hide it from him. So, he tried to provoke Lionel for an answer. He usually doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve. But Lionel sure is acting weird around that mouse.
Lionel’s face reddened with anger. "Yeah," he shrugged. "Keep on pretending then. I’ll leave..." he walked to the door.
Leander said nothing. He knew Lionel is too agitated to leave without giving him some sort of answer. He’s never seen Lionel this vulnerable. But for her, he...
He rubbed his chest. He did not like feeling this way. Here he is provoking his friend to get his mood better and he is still not feeling good.
"You know what?" Lionel stopped and stood in front of Leander. "She..." he pointed at the closed door. "I know who she is. I know. How about that?" he sneered.
Leander tried to maintain his calm exterior, but he couldn’t. The corners of his lips twitched unable to hold the smile.
What did that mouse tell him?
"Yeah?" Lionel smirked. "There... I gotcha, didn’t I?"
He pointed at Leander and laughed. "At this point, I know more about your wife than you. That’s gotta hurt some~"
"Shut it!" Leander lunged at Lionel raising his fists to punch him.
He still loved his friend, but no one can talk about his wife. He feared that Lionel had figured out that his wife was the one who tried to castrate his brother. He would never let his family know that secret.
Lionel, however, blocked Leander’s punch. "Not today, buddy... Not today," Lionel smirked and twisted Leander’s hand away from his ace.
Leander didn’t know Lionel was that strong. But then, what does he know about Lionel? He cleared his throat rolling his wrists. He is getting out of touch these days as he depends more on his gun.
He didn’t want to use his gun on Lionel, yet.
"What do you know?" Leander asked, taking a step forward. He is not someone who gets backed into a corner.
Lionel wants something. That’s why he is provoking him as he tried to provoke him.
Lionel stood with his chest puffed. He stretched his neck muscles as Leander stood an inch away from his face. Both were the same height and although Leander was the bulkiest of them both, Lionel still exuded the same menacing murderous aura as Leander.
Both of them come from a line of murderous thugs, all right? It’s in their blood to murder.
Both of them stared at each other for some time. Maybe both truly didn’t wish harm on the other, they didn’t go further than glaring at each other. Rationality still ruled their mind as they weren’t that consumed by rage.
In the end, they are not just two friends who were fighting. They are the heirs of two powerful families. Any dispute between them causes a war between two areas affecting the economy and the lives of many. They are raised to be careful with whom they have disputes.
"Meet Brie," Lionel said, his voice softening. His eyes reddened a bit and his eyebrows twitched.
He was unable to meet Leander in the eye as he felt ashamed. Talk about being in love with the wrong woman.
Who does it better? In their case, who does it worse?
Both of them are pathetic.
"You’re asking me, a married man, to meet a pros~" Leander pressed his lips controlling his words. "...a woman who sells herself for money?"
Lionel fisted his hands. He didn’t expect Leander to reply this way to him. But as Brie would say, she is a prostitute. An expensive one at that.
"Why, dear Leander... the one who could never cuss a woman... He’s so perfect everybody! He respects women!" Lionel held out his hands and shouted.
Leander scoffed and turned away. He refused to get provoked by Lionel.
"But saint Leander wouldn’t mind it if his brother r*pes and pillages... Here me, everyone! Leander is a saint. He never mistreats women. He just offers them to his brother! Such a saintly pimp!" Lionel scoffed.
"Get the f*ck off!" Leander pushed Lionel. "F*ck off!"
