Chapter 92: Chapter 92 Yolanda Greenwood, You Really Disappoint Me
Lola Gold heard Cooper Coldson swearing nearby.
She shook her head helplessly, not wanting to make Yolanda Greenwood feel awkward, so she went out to fetch some water.
"I was sick yesterday," Yolanda watched Lola leave and replied quietly, "Sorry."
Her body hadn’t recovered yet, and her voice sounded exceptionally weak at that moment.
"What sickness?" Cooper’s rage seemed to have diminished somewhat.
"It’s not a serious illness," Yolanda’s hand unconsciously rested on her stomach, "Let’s schedule another time when I’m feeling better."
"Trying to play me again?"
"Really not." Yolanda wanted to explain further, but then she saw Noah Coldson come in, stretching out his hand to take away the phone.
As he walked out, he continued the conversation on the phone, "She really is sick, I can testify."
Hearing this voice, Cooper couldn’t help but freeze: Is that my older brother?
Noah continued, "I’m at the hospital right now, do you want to come over and see?"
"Big brother?" Cooper called out hesitantly.
"Mhm!"
"How... How are you with Yolanda Greenwood?" Cooper felt utterly bewildered.
Last time it was Christopher Coldson, this time Noah Coldson; how is it that Yolanda always gets entangled with the Coldson Family?
"Are you coming or not?" Noah ignored his question.
Driven by curiosity, Cooper reached a peak, "Which hospital?"
After Noah sent the address, he returned to the ward, "Cooper’s coming over."
"Ah?" Yolanda was slightly worried.
"In a while, just say you had a stomach cold yesterday, he won’t suspect anything."
Lola had just returned, "Indeed, the way you look now, it’s very much like a stomach cold."
Noah looked at Lola, "Let’s go downstairs for a walk, shall we?"
Lola quickly grasped Noah’s intention: He wanted to create some private time for the two of them.
Helplessly, she tugged at the corner of her mouth, following Noah downstairs.
"Big brother looks like a tough, iron-blooded man, yet unexpectedly, he’s quite thoughtful."
Noah remained silent.
Hesitating a moment, Lola asked again, "How’s the old man doing?"
"He’s doing well."
"That’s good." Lola held back further words.
Struggling for quite a while, she finally spoke, "Um... Has Christopher been in the hospital these days?"
"Little uncle?" Evidently, Noah was a man of detail and sensitivity, he looked puzzledly at Lola, "Are you... close?"
"Not at all." Lola quickly waved her hands, "Met a few times, he’s helped me."
Noah wasn’t surprised, nodding his head and saying something unexpected, "Keep your distance from him."
Lola couldn’t help but laugh and cry at her words; Christopher really had a hard time with the Coldson Family.
Still, she wanted to know, "Has he been in the hospital recently?"
"No, he..." Noah seemed to be choosing his words carefully, "He should be busy with something else."
Something else?
A sour feeling inexplicably welled up in Lola’s heart, and she didn’t pursue it further.
The two of them sat in the small garden downstairs and soon saw Cooper entering the hospital gate.
Lola was curious, "Did big brother really refuse to agree to the divorce because Yolanda’s pregnant with Cooper’s child?"
Maybe it was a woman’s sixth sense, but she felt it wasn’t that simple.
"Mhm." Noah responded with a sound but obviously didn’t wish to elaborate further.
In the ward, Yolanda sipped porridge slowly, then saw Cooper appear at the doorway.
Her face was pale, her lips colorless, and she looked completely devoid of energy.
Seeing Cooper, she was very happy, a happiness that came from deep within.
Thinking about carrying Cooper’s child in her womb made her feel a happiness she had never experienced before, as if all her past efforts had finally borne fruit.
"You’re here?"
Cooper frowned, not used to seeing Yolanda so ill.
"What are you up to now?"
Yolanda tugged at the corner of her mouth apologetically, "Acute gastroenteritis, probably ate something bad."
Cooper still wore a look of disdain, "Weren’t you back at work? Can’t you eat something better?"
"Oh, I know." Yolanda stuck out her tongue.
"Stop acting cute! Are you a child or what?" Cooper Coldson said coldly.
Yolanda truly felt good inside; when he mentioned children, the smile on her lips grew wider, "Aren’t children nice? They’re so adorable!"
"Not nice, bothersome!" Cooper’s tone grew even more sour.
"Your own child, you won’t feel that way," Yolanda’s voice lowered slightly, her gaze filled with anticipation.
"I won’t have my own children," Cooper said dismissively.
Yolanda blinked her pitiful eyes and silently said to the baby in her heart, "Don’t be sad, baby, daddy doesn’t know about you yet, we’ll surprise him later."
She asked, still unable to understand Cooper, "You really don’t want a child with Melissa Greenwood?"
"Don’t want!" Cooper looked even more displeased, "Are you annoyed? You want a child?"
With a scornful laugh, he continued, "Yolanda, you seem to be in the mood for love, have you found a new target?"
Without waiting for Yolanda to respond, he went on, "If you have a target, then hurry up and divorce me."
Yolanda lowered her head, telling herself to stay happy; her mood would affect the baby’s growth.
"Where’s Noah?" Cooper asked again.
"He stepped out." Yolanda began to eat her porridge in small bites again. Even though she lacked an appetite, she had to eat for the sake of the baby.
"When can you be discharged?"
"A week or so."
"Just for gastroenteritis, you need to stay that long?"
Yolanda paused at her actions, and after a while, spoke calmly, "Yeah, the doctor suggested observing for a few more days."
"Making a fuss!" Every one of Cooper’s words stung like a jab.
The more he thought about waiting all day yesterday, the more it infuriated him.
Yet, looking at Yolanda, she didn’t seem to be faking, and he turned to leave.
"Are you heading back?" Yolanda called out to him.
"I’ll go ask the doctor when you can be discharged?"
"No need." Yolanda stopped him quickly, "There’s no need, big brother already asked, don’t trouble the doctor again, they’re quite busy."
"Pfft!" Cooper laughed irritably, "Yolanda, you sure are capable. My brother has been back in the country for just a few days, and he’s already willing to run errands for you."
"..." Yolanda lightly bit her lip, "That’s because... I’m your wife."
"So you don’t want a divorce now? You want to continue having people care for you?" Cooper’s words grew harsher, "Yolanda, do you really lack love that much?"
Yolanda gripped the spoon tightly, repeatedly telling herself, "Baby, don’t listen, daddy’s just angry."
But she didn’t understand what was making Cooper so angry.
It took her a while to gather the courage to ask cautiously, "Cooper, do we really have to divorce?"
"Yolanda!" Cooper exploded, "So this gastroenteritis is deliberate, right? A pity play? The nonsense my brother came to tell me this morning, was that also because of you?"
His eyes ignited with fury, "Yolanda, you’re really beneath my respect!"
