Chapter 93: Chapter 93: A Dog Ready to Heel at His Command

"No, no..." Yolanda Greenwood kept shaking her head, unable to stop her tears from coming down.

"Don’t cry, don’t cry!" She tried her best not to listen to what Cooper was saying, constantly psyching herself up—for the sake of the baby, she had to be strong.

"Cooper, shut up!" Noah Coldson had returned at some point, his anger towards Cooper palpable, "Step outside with me."

Cooper’s final words to Yolanda were, "Make it clear, our marriage must end, there’s no room for discussion!"

"Cooper!" Noah called out again, clearly livid.

Yolanda lowered her head, biting her lip, comforting her child in her heart, "Baby be good, daddy is just angry, he doesn’t stop loving you."

But at that moment, no matter how much she comforted herself, she couldn’t control her tears.

Soon, Lola Gold entered, "Yolanda, how are you?"

Yolanda sniffed, trying hard to push back her tears, and managed a smile for Lola, "I’m okay."

"It’s all Noah’s fault!" Lola had already seen Cooper for the scum he was, but what about Noah? Why wouldn’t he let Yolanda get a divorce?

She gently embraced Yolanda, "Yolanda, let’s leave Gray City, go somewhere Cooper can’t find us, then no one can hurt you or the child."

Is that possible?

Yolanda wasn’t optimistic; she had some idea of the extent of Coldson Group’s influence.

She couldn’t confront Coldson Group alone or jeopardize her child.

Now, all she could do was to follow Noah’s advice, keep the child’s existence hidden from Cooper for now, and they would have to plan for the long term for everything else.

After Noah left the room, he almost dragged Cooper by the collar to the end of the corridor.

"I asked you to visit the patient, not to upset her!"

Cooper broke free from Noah’s hand, and chuckled lowly, "I never would’ve thought that my big brother, who was so ruthless with his own family, knew how to be tender and cherish women."

Noah was taken aback. He knew that Cooper had held a grudge about him leaving years ago.

"Cooper," he started helplessly, "back then, I had to leave."

"Why?" Cooper couldn’t understand it, he stared at the man in front of him, the man he had once trusted the most.

That year Cooper was only five years old, Noah just six, both were of a tender age—what could have made Noah so determined to leave?

Noah remained silent for a while, finally looking away first, "Even if I had stayed, I couldn’t have done better than you, and now it seems, my departure was the right choice, you are more suited to be the Family Head."

"Haha..." Cooper couldn’t help but laugh out, "Big brother always surprises me, it seems you had such foresight even at six years old."

"Cooper!" Noah was getting frustrated, "No matter what you think, what’s happened can’t be changed."

He looked seriously at Cooper, "Believe me, don’t divorce Yolanda, or you’ll definitely regret it."

"Oh? Has my big brother had another impressive foresight?" Cooper’s voice was laced with sarcasm, "Too bad, I will never trust you again."

He turned and left with long strides, his trust in Noah had crumbled to pieces at the age of five.

Noah watched Cooper walk away, and after a long while, he sighed deeply and returned to the ward.

Yolanda and Lola both looked at him, their eyes full of meaning.

"Cooper has gone back," Noah said calmly, stepping forward, "Yolanda, he asked me to apologize to you on his behalf."

"Really?" Yolanda was incredulous.

"Yes." Noah nodded, then took out his phone and offered to Yolanda, "Would you like to call grandfather?"

"Can I?" Yolanda was overjoyed.

Noah quickly made the call, "Grandfather, it’s Noah, I’m here with Yolanda, I’ll pass her the phone."

Yolanda happily took the phone, chatting with Old Master Coldson.

Lola took a glance at Noah, by now sure that Cooper’s apology was a lie.

But she couldn’t be bothered to expose it; as long as it made Yolanda happy, that was enough.

For the next few days, Cooper made no further appearances and didn’t contact Yolanda, but Noah almost came by daily.

He would bring a variety of delicious food and occasionally some small toys, saying the child would like them.

Yolanda was in good spirits, most importantly, she was able to talk to Old Master Coldson on the phone every day.

But she found it strange; every time she talked to grandfather, wasn’t Isabella Ross beside him? Why didn’t she stop it?

A week later, Yolanda was discharged from the hospital.

The doctor prescribed some medicine and instructed her to take care after leaving the hospital, ensuring she ate and slept well for the baby’s normal development.

What Yolanda didn’t expect was that Noah had actually rented her a spacious luxury apartment of over a hundred square meters for her and Lola to move into.

"There’s no need, really no need," Yolanda was too embarrassed, "Lola and I are doing just fine where we are."

Lola didn’t speak; her small rental was indeed cramped, and sharing a bed with Yolanda was inconvenient.

Obviously, Noah had noticed this when he visited; the man was attentive, too bad he wasn’t Cooper.

"Yolanda," after so many days, Noah had become familiar with her, "have you forgotten what big brother said before? You won’t be divorcing Cooper, and right now, I’m still your big brother, and the child in your belly is also Coldson Family’s blood. So, don’t refuse."

He raised his eyebrows at Lola, clearly wanting her to persuade Yolanda as well.

"Come on, the Coldson Family is so rich, renting an apartment is nothing, even buying a villa would be a trivial matter."

Lola hugged Yolanda’s arm, "Let me and your baby bask in your glory."

Unable to refuse any longer, Yolanda finally agreed, "Big brother, then when I get paid, I’ll pay you the rent."

"Fine, as long as you’re happy," Noah didn’t insist further.

"Oh," he added, "grandfather has also been discharged, there’s a family dinner tonight, Yolanda, why don’t you join us?"

"Ah? Let’s not," Yolanda was worried, "I’d rather not disrupt your family gathering."

"Talking nonsense again?" Noah didn’t leave Yolanda a chance to refuse, "At four in the afternoon, I’ll come to pick you up."

After Noah left, Yolanda and Lola began to pack up their things; neither had much, chatting while they organized everything.

"Lola," during the time Yolanda was in the hospital, Lola had been almost constantly at the hospital, "you... haven’t you seen Christopher recently?"

Lola paused for a moment with what she was holding, then resumed as usual, "No."

Yolanda furrowed her brows, "Not even contacted?"

Lola shook her head.

"Strange," Yolanda couldn’t understand, "on one hand, he doesn’t agree to end the contract, yet on the other hand, he ignores you, what does that mean?"

"He probably has someone new," Lola said with a bitter smile, "anyway, I’m just a dog ready at his beck and call in his eyes, he’ll do whatever he feels like."
