Entangled with My Cousin's Fiancé -
Chapter 91: Why Do You Smell of Blood?
Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Why Do You Smell of Blood?
Noah Coldson paid no attention to Lola Gold’s words.
He continued to look at Yolanda Greenwood, speaking very seriously, "The child in your belly carries the Coldson Group’s bloodline, and as a member of the Coldson Family, I will not allow them to be cast aside."
Yolanda remained silent; she still felt like everything was a dream.
Was she really pregnant?
She gently touched her lower abdomen. If there really was a little life inside, then she didn’t like the idea of them coming into this world without a father.
But Cooper...
Yolanda felt a bit wronged, "Brother, from the beginning to the end, the divorce with Cooper wasn’t my decision."
"Don’t worry," Noah’s tone was firm, "I’ll handle Cooper and the Coldson Family."
Yolanda looked at Noah, remembering what Old Master Coldson had once said about Noah’s sudden change in temperament when he was younger, followed by his refusal of the position of Patriarch of the Coldson Family before going abroad soon after.
At the time, Yolanda vaguely felt that this brother was unreliable, but the man in front of her... It wasn’t just his military uniform; everything he had done since he appeared gave Yolanda a great sense of security.
"Thank you, Brother!" Yolanda nodded gratefully, accepting Noah’s conditions.
Even for the sake of the child, she had to make one last effort.
"Alright, rest well these next few days, recuperate, and I’ll come to see you often." Noah left soon after.
The hospital where Yolanda was at wasn’t the same one where Old Master Coldson and Gemma Morgan were staying. Noah returned there.
He saw Cooper in the corridor, his face ashen, incessantly making phone calls, and seeming to be in a terrible mood.
"Brother, where have you been all day?" Cooper put away his phone upon seeing Noah return.
"I went to take care of some things." Noah approached, "How is Grandfather?"
"He’s fine." Cooper frowned suddenly, "Brother, there’s a smell of... blood on you?"
Noah changed his clothes and took a bath first but didn’t expect the scent of blood to linger. Thinking of Yolanda lying in a pool of blood, his expression darkened.
"Cooper, big brother doesn’t agree with your divorce from Yolanda!"
"Why?" Cooper was irritable. He had waited at the Civil Affairs Office until they closed for the day and hadn’t seen Yolanda.
What was more annoying, he had made countless phone calls, but no one answered, and in the end, that woman had even turned off her phone!
Damn it, it was infuriating! That woman was mocking him!
"There are many things you don’t understand because you haven’t been in the country for years, and besides, Grandfather and Mom have agreed. Just back off."
The implication in Cooper’s words was that it didn’t matter if Noah disagreed.
Actually, Isabella Ross and Cooper had almost polar opposite attitudes towards Noah.
Isabella, having experienced Noah’s decisiveness in the past, held a level of wariness towards him;
Whereas Cooper harbored resentment toward his brother for abandoning his responsibilities, which forced Cooper to give up his own dreams and become a puppet Family Head, feeling that his big brother had wronged him.
"Grandfather and Mom, I’ll try to persuade them. Anyway, I don’t agree." Noah turned and went back to the hospital room.
Cooper, biting his teeth in anger, called Yolanda’s phone again, but it was still switched off.
That night, during the vigil, Noah spoke to Old Master Coldson, "Grandfather, why did you agree to Cooper’s divorce from Yolanda? You clearly like her so much."
"What use is there in liking her?" Old Master Coldson wore a look of exasperation, "That brother of yours is good for nothing."
"They aren’t going to divorce," Noah declared decisively.
Old Master Coldson seemed secretly pleased; actually, both his grandsons were the same when it came to being stubborn in their decisions, not even eight oxen could pull them back.
He kept a stern face, "It’s not up to you to decide. Aren’t you leaving again soon?"
"I won’t be going back for a while." Noah adjusted the blanket for Old Master Coldson, "I’ve made a request to my organization and will be staying in the country for close to a year."
Old Master Coldson’s eyes brightened, "Then take good care of your brother!"
He felt there was hope for the situation.
The next morning, Noah talked to Isabella alone.
"It’s out of the question. I don’t agree," Isabella was adamant, "You have no idea how Yolanda got into the Coldson Family. She drugged Cooper at Melissa’s birthday party, causing a huge scandal. I was so ashamed I couldn’t face going out."
Noah clearly didn’t believe it and continued, "She’s pregnant."
"What?" Isabella’s eyes went wide, "For real? Why now of all times, and besides..."
And besides, Yolanda had already separated from Cooper; who knew whose child she was carrying.
"They hadn’t separated yet two months ago," Noah asserted.
Isabella fell silent. Although she didn’t like Yolanda, she understood that Yolanda didn’t seem like someone who would act irresponsibly.
She really did want a grandson, especially since Cooper had said such things, making her worry for a long time.
"Mom, if you don’t say anything, I’ll take it as you agree," Noah obviously knew how to negotiate.
Isabella glanced at him, "They don’t have any feelings for each other."
"Did you and Dad marry because of feelings?"
"You!" Isabella choked with anger, "Fine, I’ll stay out of it then. Let’s see how capable Yolanda is."
If Melissa Greenwood couldn’t handle Yolanda, then she didn’t deserve to enter the Coldson Family.
"Mom, keep this matter secret for now. If you tell that Melissa Greenwood, you can forget about holding your eldest grandson." Although they didn’t interact much, Noah could sense that Melissa was not easy to deal with.
"How dare she?" Isabella huffed and then added, "Don’t worry, your mother is not a gossip."
With family matters temporarily settled, Noah planned to visit Yolanda.
"Where are you off to?" Isabella called after his retreating figure. He hadn’t been back in the country for many days, so why was he always running out? Was he on a mission?
She admonished him again, "Be safe."
Yolanda had another night filled with dreams, one moment dreaming the hospital had misdiagnosed, and she wasn’t really pregnant; another moment, dreaming she had fallen, and the baby was lost.
Not long after she woke up, Lola arrived.
"Change of clothes, breakfast, fruits..." Lola took out items one by one, "Phone, I charged it for you."
As soon as Yolanda turned on the phone, she was bombarded with messages and missed call notifications.
All from Cooper.
More than thirty WeChat messages, over forty calls.
Yolanda didn’t know whether to cry or laugh. She had known Cooper so long and had never received so many WeChat messages from him.
She took a deep breath and proactively dialed back. As soon as he picked up, she heard Cooper shouting.
"Yolanda, do you have a death wish? Do you find it funny to play with me?"
"Do you know how long I waited for you at the Civil Affairs Office yesterday? You playing hide and seek with me?"
"Yolanda, listen carefully, if you don’t give me a reasonable explanation today, you’re going to regret it!"
