Chapter 84: Chapter 84 How can you say he doesn’t love you
Yolanda Greenwood was determined to show the DNA test reports to Jaxon Greenwood and reveal all the truths.
Ten minutes later, she came out of the hospital elevator, just in time to see Melissa Greenwood.
"Why are you here again?" Melissa said with impatience, "Hurry back, you’re not welcome here."
Unable to contain her anger and considering Melissa’s actions all along, Yolanda stepped forward and slapped Melissa across the face.
"You’ve known all along, haven’t you?" she asked coldly.
Melissa clutched her face, looking at Yolanda in disbelief. "Are you crazy? Known what exactly?"
Yolanda unfolded the report, making sure Melissa could see it clearly.
As Melissa saw the large characters at the end of the report, her face turned pale instantly.
"What’s the meaning of this?" she was in total panic, "You did another DNA test?"
Yolanda immediately picked up on the flaw, "So, you tampered with the previous test report between Eliana Reed and me?"
Melissa didn’t speak; her mind raced.
She couldn’t let this matter leak; otherwise, it would surely affect her wedding with Cooper Coldson.
Her voice trembling, she asked, "What do you want?"
"I’m going to show this report to the family patriarch. I want everyone to see the truth, to see the disgusting faces of you and Eliana Reed."
Yolanda said this and walked past Melissa, heading straight for the patient room.
"Stop right there!" Melissa immediately blocked her, "My dad isn’t here."
"Then I’ll wait, until he comes back." Nonetheless, Yolanda was determined to expose the truth today, no matter what.
Watching Yolanda’s resolute figure, Melissa suddenly spoke again, "My mom woke up."
Yolanda turned around, looking at Melissa in surprise. "Really?"
"Yes." Melissa nodded, "Just now, the doctors said she can’t endure any more stress, or she might not survive."
Yolanda’s grip tightened on the report in her hand.
Seeing that Yolanda was finally scared, Melissa silently breathed a sigh of relief, "Honestly, it doesn’t affect me. I’m marrying Cooper anyway. Compared to the Coldson Family, what significance does the Greenwood Family hold?"
She sneered with triumph, "You can now go and tell Gemma Morgan, maybe even taking her life. Do you think, after Jaxon comes back, he will acknowledge you? Will he forgive you?"
"Melissa Greenwood!" Yolanda couldn’t tell if the person before her was human or a devil.
"Are you still going?" Melissa gestured invitingly, "Either go ahead or get lost, Jaxon will be back soon."
"Of course," she added, "If you dare show this report to Jaxon in secret, I assure you Gemma Morgan will also find out soon."
"You!" Yolanda was fuming with rage, but she had no choice; she dared not gamble with Gemma Morgan’s life.
As she watched Melissa about to leave, she said quickly, "I can keep the truth to myself, but you can’t harm the Eldest Aunt anymore, or I will have no more concerns."
"Don’t worry, she’s awake," Melissa said without looking back, "There’s nothing I can do anymore."
As Melissa reached the door of the patient room, she turned to see Yolanda dejectedly walking away.
"What an idiot!" she muttered to herself and then entered the patient room.
Gemma Morgan had indeed regained consciousness. When she saw Melissa enter, she immediately turned her head away.
Melissa Greenwood didn’t care much, taking a few steps forward and sitting on the bed, "It seems like Mom wants to break up this family."
Gemma Morgan turned around and glared angrily at her.
"Mom, you know how Dad’s temperament is; in his eyes, I’m no different from someone picked up from the streets." Melissa casually picked up a banana and started to peel it, "If you said something to him that you shouldn’t have, I think our family will fall apart, and you can consider that you don’t have a daughter like me."
Gemma’s face slowly turned pale, "Melissa, how could you become like this?"
"It’s all because you forced me!" Melissa shouted, "I am your daughter, but what have you ever done for me? You only have eyes for Yolanda, Dad only has eyes for you, and all I want now is to marry Cooper. Don’t worry, once I marry Cooper, I won’t bother you again, nor will I disturb Yolanda."
Gemma covered her chest in pain, "Melissa, are you being fair to your father with these words?"
"When you had a high fever as a child, in the middle of the night around two or three o’clock, we dared not give you medicine, and your dad just kept watch over you, scared to close his eyes all night."
"You love sweets, and your dad, critical of the store-bought ones, learned to make them himself, just to cook them for you."
"When you and Cooper had that incident, your dad even gave up his company to seek justice for you at the Coldson Family... How can you say he doesn’t love you with all these things he’s done?"
"What’s all that worth?" Melissa sneered coldly, "Doesn’t every parent do this? It’s what you’re supposed to do."
Gemma slowly closed her eyes, knowing that whatever she said was useless now.
Her tears silently fell as she gave a bitter smile, "All these years, thank you for being the obedient daughter."
At that moment, she understood that it wasn’t her Melissa who had changed, but rather, she had never really understood her daughter.
There was noise from outside; clearly, Jaxon Greenwood had returned.
Melissa handed over the peeled banana, looking coldly at Gemma.
When Jaxon entered, he saw that Gemma had awakened, "Wife, you’re awake?"
"En," Gemma responded, taking the banana from Melissa’s hand and said with concealed heartache, "Melissa, go see what your dad has brought back that’s delicious."
"Ah, a few days ago, Melissa mentioned wanting to drink the porridge from Dewy Fern Hall, so I made the trip."
Jaxon joyfully said to Melissa, "Go eat, I’ll talk with your mom."
"Okay, thanks, Dad." Melissa took the porridge and glanced back at Gemma, "Mom, you two talk; I’ll go eat."
Gemma’s tears couldn’t stop again, knowing the trip to and from Dewy Fern Hall to the hospital took an hour and a half.
She tenderly touched Jaxon’s face, noticing he had lost weight, "Have you eaten?"
"I grabbed a bite in the car." Seeing Gemma crying, Jaxon became immensely pained, "Why are you crying? Are you not happy to see me?"
"Happy, I’m just too happy," Gemma said with a smile.
Jaxon stood up, gently wiping away Gemma’s tears, "I’m sorry, wife, I was indeed out for a bit too long this time, I promise it won’t happen again."
In fact, when he left, Gemma wasn’t having any serious issues, and he thought she would surely be waiting for him at home when he returned.
The worst part was when he called home; Gemma always lied to him, saying she had been discharged long ago.
It was only the day before he returned that Jaxon learned Gemma was still in the hospital; he was struck with immense guilt.
"Old Greenwood," Gemma gently held Jaxon’s hand, "Don’t work so hard in the future. Our daughter is getting married; we don’t need that much money. We also can’t spend much; can’t you spend more time with me?"
"Of course, definitely." Jaxon laughed sillily, "This business deal will prepare a sizable dowry for our Melissa."
Gemma felt an even deeper bitterness but dared not show it, repeatedly praising her husband’s abilities.
