Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Do They Dare to Go Out on a Stormy Day?
Yolanda Greenwood left the hospital, her spirit wandering aimlessly.
The events of today had overturned everything she had once believed.
By the time she collected herself, she found herself at the doorstep of the Greenwood Family home.
Since she was there, Yolanda could not just walk away without confronting the woman who had "mothered" her for over twenty years.
She entered the house angrily.
"Miss is back?" The servant greeted her warmly. "Madam is watching TV in the living room. Come on in."
Yolanda strode into the living room and saw Eliana Reed looking at her with disgust.
"Why are you here?" Eliana sneered. "What, didn’t you say you wanted to sever ties with me and not acknowledge me as your mother?"
Her expression was full of scorn. "Changed your mind?"
"Eliana, have you no shame?" Yolanda retorted directly.
Eliana was instantly enraged. "Yolanda, are you sick in the head? Did I beg you to come back? Get out, get out of here right now! I disown you, you unfilial daughter!"
Yolanda curled her lips. "Still calling me daughter and yourself mother, doesn’t it feel awkward for you?"
"What do you mean?" Eliana glared at Yolanda, feeling suddenly insecure.
"Stop the act, I know everything," Yolanda’s gaze grew colder. "You’re not my mother at all. I’m Gemma Morgan and Jaxon Greenwood’s daughter."
Eliana’s face turned white with fear. "What are you talking about? That’s absurd."
"You know your place very well," Yolanda stepped forward and suddenly grabbed Eliana by the hair. "You and Melissa Greenwood have ruined my life for years, you will go to hell for this!"
Eliana cried out in pain but still refused to admit it. "I have no idea what you’re talking about, let go of me, you wretch!"
Yolanda pushed her hard, sending Eliana tumbling to the ground. "I know the truth, and soon everyone else will too. You will get what you deserve."
She sneered one last time and walked away.
Eliana, terrified, quickly called Melissa Greenwood. "Melissa, something terrible has happened!"
"What is it now? Can’t you stop being so flustered all the time?" Melissa clearly sounded impatient.
"Melissa, it’s really bad, Yolanda knows."
Eliana, frightened and forgetting to stand up, remained seated on the floor. "She knows she’s not my daughter."
Melissa frowned. "Did she come to you?"
"Yes, just now, and she hit me," Eliana said without a hint of self-pity. "What should we do? Melissa, she might tell Jaxon and Gemma, what are we going to do?"
"Enough!" Melissa exclaimed irritably. "Don’t worry, I’ll handle it, goodbye."
Eliana wanted to say more, but the line had already gone dead, leaving her sitting blankly, unsure of what to do next.
That evening, Yolanda shared everything with Lola Gold, the only person she felt she could tell.
Lola’s eyes widened with surprise, her anger seething.
"This mother-daughter pair are just like the typical vicious female characters in dramas! Stupid and malicious, they wouldn’t survive the third episode!"
"If the Great Wall was made of their thick skin, it would be a wonder if Orpheus could collapse it with her tears!"
"This mother and daughter really don’t know the first thing about using their brains, and what they do know is like Drunken Sword; do they dare to go out in a thunderstorm?"
Yolanda couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time. "Okay, Lola, let’s not be angry anymore."
"You, you!" Lola shook her head. "So, you really aren’t planning to tell Aunt Morgan? That Melissa is even worse than Fierce Nanny."
"For now, let’s keep it quiet," Yolanda said worriedly. "Eldest Aunt just woke up not long ago and really shouldn’t be disturbed, and with Uncle around, Melissa probably won’t dare to do anything rash."
"That makes sense," Lola analyzed logically. "The most important thing is that if something happens in her family now, she and Cooper Coldson might not be able to get married."
She looked at Yolanda with a bit of envy. "Still calling him Uncle? Eldest Aunt?"
"Lola!" Yolanda couldn’t help but tear up.
In the past, because of Eliana’s differential treatment, she had doubted herself, feeling perhaps she was just a child unworthy of love.
Now, she realized it was Gemma’s care that had given her warmth during those times.
Perhaps everything is destined in some mysterious way.
She recalled Christopher Coldson’s matter, gripping Lola tightly, her heart aching. "Lola, everything will gradually get better, trust me."
"Silly girl," Lola gently ruffled Yolanda’s hair, aware that Yolanda had approached Christopher today.
The outcome didn’t surprise her.
"By the way, Yolanda," Lola changed the subject. "When do you plan to deliver the painting to Grandpa Coldson?"
"I’ll find the time in the next few days." Although the Coldson family wasn’t welcoming to her, she was determined to deliver this painting to her grandfather.
A few days later, Yolanda finally mustered the courage to take the painting to the Coldsons.
Isabella Ross saw her and immediately refused her entry. "What are you doing here?"
"Mom..." Yolanda timidly called out.
"Don’t call me mom." Isabella’s gaze turned especially cold, her eyes filled with disdain. "You getting divorced from Cooper is just a matter of time, so I’m no longer your mom, and this is no longer your home, please leave."
Just as she was about to close the door, Yolanda quickly blocked it. "Aunt Ross, I came to deliver a painting to Grandpa, I’ll leave right after."
Isabella had obviously noticed Yolanda holding the painting and was still dismissive. "That’s not necessary, we don’t need it."
But Yolanda pushed against the door, determined not to give up. "Let me see Grandpa and give him the painting, then I will leave."
"Yolanda, have you no shame?" Isabella was clearly losing her patience. "Grandfather doesn’t want to see you now. You and your good friend really are a den of snakes, one climbs into beds, the other sells her body..."
Yolanda’s face changed color. How did Isabella know about Lola and Christopher’s situation? Had Cooper mentioned it?
She bit her lip hard. "Lola took Christopher’s money because she had to pay for her mother’s medical treatment. Now she wants to cut ties with Christopher, but he won’t let her go."
"Ha ha ha..." Isabella suddenly burst out laughing. "Yolanda, are people like you always good at making excuses for themselves?"
She pushed Yolanda away. "Get out, or I’ll call the police!"
The front door shut instantly, and Yolanda’s tears broke free; she really wanted to see her grandfather.
She looked up towards the second floor and decided to try one last time.
She yelled up to the second floor, "Grandpa, Grandpa, are you there? It’s Yolanda!"
After waiting a while with no appearance at the second-floor windows,
she continued to call out, "Grandpa, I’ve finished the painting I promised you, I’ve left it here by the small flowerbed, please remember to pick it up."
She silently placed the painting down and, with reluctance, walked away.
