Chapter 83: Chapter 83 Yolanda Greenwood is Actually the Daughter of Jaxon Greenwood and Gemma Morgan

All night, Lynn Gage tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

Because she knew about the relationship between Gemma Morgan and Yolanda Greenwood and felt responsible for the trust Yolanda had placed in her, she paid extra attention to Gemma.

The more she thought about Easton Watson’s behavior, the more wrong it seemed, and she only managed to doze off as the sky was beginning to lighten.

As a result, she overslept the next day.

She quickly washed up, skipping breakfast, and went straight to Gemma’s hospital room.

To her surprise, Gemma’s medication had already been switched.

"Who changed it?" Lynn asked with immediate tension.

"Dr. Watson," Jaxon responded, looking perplexed, "Nurse Gage, is there a problem?"

"No, nothing," Lynn replied, turning around to head to the pharmacy. She purchased a new set of medications for Gemma with her own money and returned to her room.

"Uncle Greenwood," she tried to appear natural, "Aunt Morgan’s medicine needs to be changed."

"What do you mean?" Jaxon sensed something was off and grew anxious, "Is there something wrong with the medication?"

"No, don’t worry, Uncle Greenwood," Lynn smiled lightly, "Dr. Watson remixed the medication yesterday. It’s better for Aunt Morgan’s illness. He forgot to mention it this morning but reminded me just a while ago."

She quickly replaced Gemma’s medication and, carrying the old meds, left straight for the laboratory.

"Dr. Bennett," Lynn handed over the medication, "Could you check the composition for me? I suspect it’s been tampered with."

The lab’s Dr. Bennett’s face changed immediately, "Where is this medication from? Is it from our hospital?"

"Dr. Bennett, don’t ask so many questions, just check it, please," Lynn insisted, with a note of concern adding, "Keep it confidential for me."

Dr. Bennett nodded.

"How soon can I get the results?" Lynn asked further.

"Normally, it’s very quick; the results can be ready today," Dr. Bennett said, getting busy immediately.

"Great, let me know as soon as you have them," Lynn left, deep in thought.

That afternoon, Yolanda received a call from Lynn.

"Yolanda, can we meet? At the coffee shop outside the hospital, right now," Lynn’s voice sounded wrong.

"Okay, I’ll be there in half an hour," Yolanda felt increasingly uneasy.

"Alright, I’ll wait for you," Lynn hung up.

Yolanda quickly made arrangements for her work and went to the coffee shop near the hospital, a place she had met Gemma before.

"Yolanda!" Lynn, upon seeing her arrival, wiped away her tears in a hurry.

Frightened, Yolanda approached swiftly, "Nurse Gage, what’s wrong?"

She noticed that despite it being working hours, Lynn wasn’t in her nurse’s uniform.

"Yolanda, I am sorry," Lynn grabbed Yolanda’s hands, tears flowing again.

"Stop crying, take it slow, what happened?" Yolanda was inexplicably worried about Gemma.

She sat down beside Lynn, noticing the latter was shaking all over.

Lynn’s voice trembled as she spoke, "They... they changed Aunt Morgan’s medication..."

"They?" Yolanda’s eyes widened, "Who are they?"

"Melissa Greenwood and Easton Watson."

Just a short while ago, lab Dr. Bennett had delivered test results that confirmed there was something wrong with the medication.

Yolanda was engulfed in fear, "What exactly is going on? Why change the medication? Was it a mistake?"

She didn’t notice her own voice shaking.

Lynn held Yolanda’s hands tightly, "They... they don’t want Aunt Morgan to wake up."

Yolanda understood immediately; she should have realized it sooner.

Melissa had lied to Jaxon, and if Gemma were to wake up, Melissa’s lies would be exposed. Melissa definitely didn’t want Gemma to regain consciousness.

But Yolanda hadn’t thought Melissa would be so cruel as to conspire with a doctor to change Gemma’s medication.

"Nurse Gage, how did you discover this? Have you told Uncle Greenwood?"

Lynn shook her head, "I’m sorry, Yolanda, I didn’t have the courage. I’ve already submitted my resignation..."

"Nurse Gage!" Yolanda nearly cried, patting Lynn on the back, "No, it’s okay, you’ve been brave just by telling me. There’s no need for you to resign, I’ll handle it."

"It’s no use, I can’t go on any longer," Lynn sobbed, "I feel like I’ve let my profession down, ’heal the wounded and rescue the dying,’ it’s so disappointing."

"Nurse Gage..." Yolanda tried to continue persuading her.

"No, Yolanda, no need to say anymore," Lynn wiped away her tears, "I’ve bought a train ticket home, I’m leaving."

Yolanda paused, feeling deeply apologetic, "Nurse Gage, it’s my fault, I shouldn’t have dragged you into all this."

"No, it’s not your fault, Yolanda. There’s something else I need to tell you today," Lynn’s emotions stabilized slightly.

"Do you remember when I suddenly called you to the hospital last time?"

Yolanda nodded, "Wasn’t it to give me your Eldest Aunt’s blood?"

"No, that was something I came up with on the spot," Lynn’s expression became grave. She took out a piece of paper from her bag and handed it to Yolanda, "Yolanda, take a look."

Yolanda, puzzled, unfolded it, and her blood ran cold when she saw the content.

Lynn explained softly, "This was the real reason I called you, but for some reason Melissa unexpectedly showed up. That day when you came looking for me, she was hiding in my office."

"This can’t be." It took Yolanda a while to find her voice, "This can’t be."

She looked at Lynn, "I’ve had tests done, there’s no issue between me and my mom."

"How could that be?" Lynn’s face filled with disbelief, "Are you sure you’re not mistaken? This report shouldn’t be wrong, nobody else knows."

"It should be right," Yolanda was still in shock.

If... Gemma really was her mother, then everything fell into place, but was it possible?

"Yolanda," Lynn whispered, "Find another chance to do the test, not at our hospital, and tell no one."

Clearly, this seemed the most reliable course of action.

Yolanda nodded, "Okay."

Lynn let out a slow breath, "Yolanda, I’m leaving, this is all I can do, the rest is up to you. Take care."

"Thank you, Lynn." Yolanda gave Lynn a gentle hug, "I truly appreciate it."

"Yolanda, be careful with Melissa Greenwood and Eliana Reed, they’re not easy to deal with," Lynn said her last piece, then left.

Yolanda sat alone in the coffee shop for a while, repeatedly looking at the results on the test report.

Gradually, everything became clear in her mind; she even felt there was no need for another test because it was all true!

She, Yolanda Greenwood, was the daughter of Jaxon and Gemma Morgan. From the start, it was Melissa who had stolen her life.

Quickly, Yolanda left the coffee shop and walked towards the hospital.
