Chapter 76: Chapter 76 No Matter What You Heard, You Have No Proof
Yolanda Greenwood received the WeChat message and hurried to the hospital, not expecting to run into Melissa Greenwood on the first floor.
"What are you here for this time?" Melissa looked as if she was facing a formidable enemy.
"It’s none of your business." Yolanda didn’t want to deal with her and quickened her pace.
Melissa, however, was riddled with suspicion and followed relentlessly, "Do you want to get beaten up by my father again?"
Yolanda cast a cold look in her direction, "Don’t worry, I’m not here to see the Eldest Aunt."
"So, you’re here to see Grandpa Coldson then?" Melissa said mockingly, twisting her mouth into a sneer, "Yolanda, have you no shame? The Coldson Family doesn’t welcome you, yet you still have the audacity to show up?"
Yolanda stopped and turned back, glaring at her furiously, "Melissa, I’m not here for the hospital or Grandpa, Nurse Gage has something she needs to see me for."
She was thoroughly annoyed, "So, can you stop following me?"
Nurse Gage?
Alarm bells went off throughout Melissa’s body. She quickly took a few steps forward and blocked Yolanda’s way.
"My mother has already woken up."
"Really?" Yolanda showed a look of surprise.
Melissa nodded, "She wants to see you."
She thrust the lunch she was holding into Yolanda’s hands, "You deliver it for me."
Yolanda hesitated, sensing something odd about Melissa’s sudden change in demeanor.
"My father has been waiting all morning without eating; you better go now." Melissa turned and left, not giving Yolanda a chance to refuse.
Yolanda felt uncertain, but she still wanted to see Gemma Morgan and also to clear things up with Jaxon Greenwood.
In the end, she decided to visit Gemma first, and then find Nurse Gage.
Upon reaching the hospital room’s door, Yolanda knocked.
After returning, Jaxon had been vigilantly caring for Gemma day and night, but Gemma had not woken up.
Melissa told him all about what had happened after Gemma was admitted to the hospital, not expecting that Yolanda would repeatedly upset Gemma to the point of fainting.
And this last time, Yolanda even cursed Gemma to her face.
Jaxon despised Yolanda because he knew how much Gemma liked her, and he himself had always felt a kindred connection to Yolanda.
Hearing knocks, he turned and saw Yolanda’s face at the window.
Instant rage surged through him, and he stormed out of the room.
"What are you doing here?" he demanded in a voice menacingly low.
Yolanda immediately realized Gemma hadn’t woken up; Melissa had deliberately lied to get her scolded.
She helplessly tried to explain, "Uncle, I don’t know what Melissa told you, but you’ll understand everything once the Eldest Aunt wakes up."
She offered the lunch in her hand, "Here’s the lunch, Uncle you..."
Jaxon snatched it away and flung it onto the floor, "I don’t need anything from you, get out! If anything happens to my sister, I’ll never let you off the hook."
"Uncle!" Yolanda looked at the deep fatigue in Jaxon’s eyes and softened again.
She let out a light sigh, "It’s fine if you don’t want to eat what I brought, but please, Uncle, you must take care of yourself. Only by staying well can you look after the Eldest Aunt."
Yolanda knew that once Gemma woke up and the truth came out, the Greenwood Family would surely be in turmoil.
Jaxon watched Yolanda walk away, baffled. He found it extremely difficult to equate this child with the villain that Melissa depicted.
Yet Melissa was his daughter, and he should trust her.
Yolanda wanted to find Melissa and ask what she was up to, but after searching around, she saw no sign of her.
So, she went to see Lynn Gage.
"Nurse Gage," she asked immediately upon entering, "you were in such a hurry to call me, is something the matter?"
Lynn Gage sat at her station, seemingly writing something, hardly glancing up when Yolanda arrived.
"Ah! Actually, it’s nothing, I was just about to call you to say there’s no need to come."
"Hmm?" Jaxon Greenwood found it peculiar.
Lynn Gage looked down, tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Actually, it’s just that the blood bank is running low on your Eldest Aunt’s blood type, I was wondering if it would be convenient for you to..."
"No problem," Jaxon Greenwood immediately rolled up his sleeve, "Take as much as you need."
Lynn Gage’s nose tingled, "Okay, go to the blood donation room. I’ve got something else to handle, so I won’t accompany you there."
"Sure." Jaxon Greenwood always felt that something wasn’t quite right with Lynn Gage, and before leaving, he double-checked, "Nurse Gage, are you alright?"
"Ah?" Lynn Gage let out a couple of forced laughs, "I’m fine, I’m fine. Go on, quickly."
As soon as Jaxon Greenwood left, Lynn Gage glared angrily in the direction of the cupboard.
Soon after, Melissa Greenwood came out from behind; right after parting with Jaxon Greenwood, she immediately went to see Lynn Gage.
Indeed, Lynn Gage had overheard her conversation with Eliana Reed and wanted to spill the beans to Jaxon Greenwood.
"Can you leave now?" Lynn Gage said coldly.
Melissa Greenwood had come before, threatening her that if she talked nonsense with Jaxon Greenwood, she would lose her job.
With her family in a difficult situation and her mother seriously ill, this job had not been easy to come by, and she couldn’t afford to lose it.
Melissa Greenwood crossed her arms smugly, "Nurse Gage, I warn you once again, don’t eat things indiscriminately, don’t speak without thinking. Whatever you heard, you have no proof."
She even shrugged her shoulders, "It’s also possible that you heard wrong. Don’t cause trouble for yourself."
After Jaxon Greenwood finished donating blood, she felt extremely dizzy, and it took a while for her to recover and walk normally.
After much thought, she still wanted to visit Old Master Coldson, but at the entrance to the ward, she ran into Christopher Coldson.
"Why do you look so pale?" Christopher noticed Jaxon Greenwood pressing her arm in a particular spot, "Donated blood again?"
Jaxon Greenwood secretly clicked her tongue; sometimes she just had to admire him, this uncle was indeed too clever.
"How is Grandpa?" she asked in a low voice.
"Come with me," Christopher said curtly, pulling her along with him.
Jaxon Greenwood had no strength to resist and could only follow him, "Uncle, where are you taking me? I want to see Grandpa."
Twenty minutes later, the two sat down in a breakfast diner near the hospital.
A big bowl of red date porridge was placed in front of Jaxon Greenwood.
She ate slowly, "Thank you, Uncle. How exactly is Grandpa?"
Christopher Coldson sat across from her, legs crossed, looking bored as he observed his nephew’s wife.
Jaxon Greenwood furrowed her brows, "What’s the matter? Is there something on my face?"
"Yes!" Christopher affirmed, nodding his head, "There’s a kind of stupidity that doesn’t care about one’s own life."
"..." Jaxon Greenwood continued eating.
Christopher Coldson stood up, ready to leave, "Don’t worry, Old Master has been doing quite well these past few days, and I expect he’ll be discharged soon. Take care of yourself."
"Oh." Jaxon Greenwood raised her head and tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Thank you, Uncle."
"No need to thank me," Christopher waved his hand dismissively and walked out, "I’m also acting on someone’s behalf."
Acting on someone’s behalf?
Cooper Coldson?
Jaxon Greenwood didn’t think it was likely. Then who could it be?
Christopher Coldson returned to the ward, only to be called out by Cooper Coldson.
"Uncle, where did you go just now?"
Christopher frowned, "What’s the matter?"
Cooper’s expression wasn’t good, "What were you and Jaxon Greenwood up to?"
