Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Yolanda Greenwood is just a life as cheap as a servant’s
Old Master Coldson beckoned.
Melissa Greenwood hurried forward cheerfully.
"Under the bed, my chamber pot from last night, help me empty it, clean it, and bring it back."
A chamber pot?
Melissa was momentarily stunned before realizing what it was, and her face instantly displayed an expression of wanting to vomit.
She clearly felt that the old man was toying with her, her face a mixture of grievance and dissatisfaction.
"What’s wrong? Not willing?" the Old Master was not surprised, "So remember, as long as I live one more day, don’t even think about entering the Coldson Family’s house."
Melissa was fuming, "What gives you the right to target me? Why don’t you let Yolanda be the one to empty your chamber pot?"
She didn’t believe Yolanda Greenwood would demean herself like that.
However, Old Master Coldson chuckled lightly, "Do you think Yolanda has never done it?"
"The first time she came back to the family home after marrying Little Cooper, she helped me empty the chamber pot, and even personally washed my soiled sheets."
"In your eyes, I’m an ugly, repulsive old man, but in Yolanda’s eyes, I am her relative."
Old Master Coldson looked at Melissa, "All you want is Cooper and his wealth, whereas Yolanda, she wants to join our family."
Melissa felt ashamed and embarrassed, but she could not bring herself to pick up Old Master Coldson’s chamber pot.
In the end, she could only curse and leave.
"Disgusting old fool, expecting me to serve you? In your dreams!"
"Yolanda Greenwood is nothing but a servant by fate, I refuse to stoop as low as her!"
"Anyway, Cooper will definitely marry me..."
But Old Master Coldson’s words kept replaying in her mind: as long as I live one more day, don’t even think about entering the Coldson Family’s house.
A cold light flashed in Melissa’s eyes.
After a moment, she immediately went to seek out the old man’s attending physician.
"Dr. Baker," Melissa’s eyes brimmed with tears, "I would like to know the true extent of Grandfather Coldson’s illness? As the younger generation, are there any particular things we should be careful about on a normal basis?"
Dr. Logan Baker looked at Melissa approvingly, "Miss Greenwood, you don’t need to worry too much. The old master’s condition isn’t serious for the time being, a few days of observation in the hospital and he can go home."
Melissa quickly furrowed her brows, "He’s fine now?"
"Yes, the old master is getting on in years," Dr. Baker found Melissa’s reaction a bit odd, "he has quite a few health issues, but as long as he keeps taking his medication, it’s not a big problem."
Melissa, not giving up, asked again, "Are there no particular things to note regarding his diet?"
"Actually, there are." Dr. Baker slapped his forehead, "I almost forgot, in his recent check-up, the old master’s blood sugar levels were quite high, so he will need to pay more attention to that from now on."
"You mean... Grandfather has diabetes now?"
Dr. Baker nodded, "Yes, it’s quite severe. He will need to control his sugar intake for the next two or three months."
"Okay, I understand now, thank you, doctor." Melissa left, lost in thought.
In the following days, Yolanda Greenwood stayed with Lola Gold, occasionally if Lola didn’t come home for the night, she’d be by herself.
In the hospital, Melissa brought Old Master Coldson’s breakfast every morning, handing it over to Isabella Ross.
"You’ve been running back and forth these past few days, it’s been tough on you." Isabella Ross’s admiration for Melissa increased, and in the meantime, she even went to see Gemma Morgan.
She asked with concern, "Your mother hasn’t woken up yet?"
"No." Melissa shook her head sadly.
"Don’t be too anxious, it will get better." Isabella added, "Say hello to your father for me, he has also been looking quite worn out these days."
"Okay." When Melissa returned, she saw Eliana Reed had arrived.
"Big brother, I apologize on behalf of that child Yolanda," Eliana Reed wiped away tears, "That child... I spoiled her too much."
Jaxon Greenwood never liked Eliana Reed, and being angry with Yolanda Greenwood right now, he wanted even less to see Eliana.
He waved his hand, dismissing her. "All right, you can go back. Gemma needs to rest quietly now, and you don’t have to come anymore."
"Okay, big brother, take care of yourself." Eliana Reed pouted.
"Dad, I’ll escort Aunt Eliana out." Melissa Greenwood left with her.
The two of them talked in the hallway.
"Melissa, will your mom wake up again?" Eliana Reed gossipingly asked.
Melissa Greenwood snorted, "Better if she were dead."
"You child." Eliana Reed was secretly delighted and whispered, "Melissa, I have some good news for you. Isabella Ross contacted me, saying that Cooper Coldson is planning to divorce Yolanda Greenwood."
"Really?" Melissa Greenwood was overjoyed; it seemed Isabella Ross had completely accepted her.
She frowned with some worry, "But our thing... the old geezer of the Coldson Family won’t agree."
"What does his disagreement matter?" Eliana Reed glared, "If Isabella Ross and Cooper Coldson agree, that’s enough."
"You don’t understand." Melissa Greenwood was quite irritable, "Isabella Ross and Cooper Coldson always listen to the Old Master. Otherwise, Cooper and Yolanda would have divorced a long time ago."
"That old bastard!" Eliana Reed was also vexed, "So what do we do?"
"No worries." Melissa Greenwood’s face shifted again, "It won’t be long now."
"What?"
But Melissa Greenwood didn’t want to elaborate, "That’s enough, you go back. Unless I call for you, don’t come here often."
"I just missed my daughter, didn’t I?" Eliana Reed said with a chuckle.
The two looked at each other and smiled. They were leaving the hallway when they happened to come across Nurse Lynn Gage passing by.
"Nurse Gage!" Melissa Greenwood called her, not knowing if Lynn Gage had overheard anything.
Lynn Gage turned to look at them, "Miss Greenwood? Aunt Reed? What are you doing here? Did you just arrive?"
Melissa Greenwood secretly breathed a sigh of relief, "Yes, my aunt is about to head back, and I’m seeing her off."
"Oh." Lynn Gage forced a smile, "I still have things to do, I’ll go busy myself then."
She nodded to them and quickly left.
Back in her office, her palms were all sweaty.
"Little Gage?" a colleague noticed her pale face, "What’s going on? Are you feeling unwell?"
"No... nothing." Lynn Gage sat back down in her seat.
Just now, Melissa Greenwood and Eliana Reed had sneaked into the hallway, and she felt something was off, so she followed.
Unexpectedly, she overheard their conversation.
At this moment, Lynn Gage was almost certain that Yolanda Greenwood and Melissa Greenwood had switched lives and that both Melissa Greenwood and Eliana Reed were aware of everything, while Yolanda Greenwood and Gemma Morgan, even Jaxon Greenwood, were kept in the dark.
This was a well-designed case of child substitution.
Yolanda Greenwood and Gemma Morgan were just too pitiable.
Lynn Gage quickly resolved to tell Yolanda Greenwood everything.
Otherwise, from what Melissa Greenwood just implied, Gemma Morgan might be in danger.
With this thought, Lynn Gage’s hands trembled as she took out her phone.
She was still trembling from fear, and her hands shook continuously.
It took several tries before she finally managed to send out the message.
"Yolanda, come to the hospital right away. I have something very important to tell you."
