Chapter 46: Chapter 46 Men Are Trouble-Makers

Richard Reyes had been waiting nearby, and only when Yolanda Greenwood left did he dare to approach.

He cautiously observed his boss’s expression.

"Boss, the organizers of the dinner have sent a boat over. They said we can board at any time."

"I’m not going," Cooper Coldson took one last look at the silhouette of Yolanda Greenwood. "Let’s go home."

"Yes." Richard Reyes glanced at Yolanda too before quickly following Cooper.

He didn’t really understand.

Ever since he saw Yolanda’s medical record that day, his boss’s attitude toward Mrs. Coldson seemed to have changed.

However, there seemed to be no indication of his boss changing his mind about marrying Melissa Greenwood.

On the way, Cooper spoke up in confusion, "Tell me, why would Yolanda give up on treating her hand?"

He really couldn’t understand.

Drawing was Yolanda’s dream. Why would she give it up?

Not drawing anymore, quitting her job—how would she support herself in the future?

This woman was absolutely mindless.

"..." It was the first time the boss had asked Richard such a personal question.

He ventured a guess, "Perhaps she doesn’t want to accept your help."

"Stupid!" Cooper concluded.

Richard quickly glanced at the man in the rearview mirror, then, mustering his courage, he spoke again, "Boss, are you... still planning to divorce Mrs. Coldson?"

Cooper closed his eyes, his voice calm, "What else?"

"..." Richard was speechless: Then why do you care whether she treats her hand or not!!!

Cooper spoke again, "Why would you suddenly ask that?"

"Ah?" Richard awkwardly pulled at the corner of his mouth, "I just thought it seemed like you were beginning to care for Mrs. Coldson."

"This is not caring."

Cooper opened his eyes and looked into the rearview mirror, locking eyes with Richard.

Richard, frightened, quickly looked back to the road.

"Anyway, she was harmed because of me; I don’t want to owe her anything."

Upon their return to the villa, Jasmine King rushed up to greet them.

"Sir, you’re back. Have you eaten yet? Would you like me to make some supper?"

It was already eleven o’clock at night.

"No need." Cooper changed his shoes and prepared to go upstairs. When he reached the stairs, he stopped and called back to Jasmine, "Make me a bowl of snow fungus soup."

"Yes." Jasmine turned and went into the kitchen.

Cooper went upstairs to change clothes, recalling that when he used to come home late, Yolanda would make him snow fungus soup.

He must be hungry since he hadn’t eaten dinner, he suddenly felt a bit of an appetite.

He didn’t wait long downstairs before Jasmine’s snow fungus soup was ready.

"Please enjoy, sir. Be careful, it’s hot."

Cooper tasted a spoonful, then frowned and put down the spoon.

"It doesn’t taste right!"

"Ah?" Jasmine immediately became anxious, "Is it too sweet?"

With a stern face, Cooper said, "Ask her, she knows how to make it."

"..." Jasmine fell silent for a moment. Besides the fact that it was so late, it was just a bowl of simple snow fungus soup—couldn’t she make it?

Cooper looked up and added two words, "Now!"

"Alright." Not daring to disobey, Jasmine quickly made the call to Yolanda in front of Cooper.

She even had the decency to put it on speaker.

Cooper closed his eyes with satisfaction and leaned back on the couch.

Yolanda had returned to Lola Gold’s place; they had just finished washing up and were preparing to sleep when Jasmine’s call came in.

"Hello? Aunt Jasmine, what’s up so late?"

"I’m sorry, Mrs. Coldson, to disturb your rest."

Jasmine glanced helplessly at the culprit.

"Mrs. Coldson, there’s something I’d like to ask you. Do you know how to make snow fungus soup?"

"Snow fungus soup?" Yolanda was baffled; such a simple thing, and Jasmine couldn’t make it?

She patiently repeated the instructions.

It was no different from Jasmine’s method.

Jasmine King looked toward the instigator again, saw that he was still keeping his eyes closed, and reluctantly expressed her thanks before hanging up the phone.

"Sir, then I’ll go make another bowl."

Jasmine felt that the phone call was absurd and headed to the kitchen, where she immediately sent Yolanda a message explaining.

"Ma’am, I’m really sorry, it was your husband who said that the white fungus porridge I made wasn’t right, so I called to ask for your advice. I’m truly sorry, please rest early."

Yolanda and Lola Gold saw the message and were instantly rendered speechless.

"Is that damn man sick? Drinking white fungus porridge late at night?"

"Besides, is the white fungus porridge I make really that delicious? Why didn’t he ever compliment me before?"

"That damn man is just looking for trouble, deliberately using Aunt Jasmine to torment me!"

Yolanda was cursing animatedly when Jasmine’s call came through again.

She answered the phone, grinding her teeth.

"Ma’am, I’m really sorry. Could you come over tomorrow and teach me personally how to make the white fungus porridge?"

Jasmine’s voice sounded on the verge of tears.

"Let Cooper Coldson pick up the phone!"

Yolanda said fiercely.

Jasmine looked toward Cooper, seeing that he had opened his eyes.

But he showed no intention of taking the phone. He stood up and walked upstairs.

"If you can’t learn how to make white fungus porridge, you might as well resign."

Cooper knew that Yolanda was bold now. If he had taken the call, he would definitely get a mouthful.

But since Jasmine got along well with Yolanda, by tossing the problem to Jasmine, Yolanda would be caught in her own trap.

"Ah ah ah ah!"

Sure enough, behind him came Yolanda’s hysterical scream.

She shouted into the phone, "Cooper Coldson, you wait for me. Tomorrow I’ll come and make a pot of white fungus porridge for you, and if you don’t drink it, I’ll rip off your head."

Cooper naturally heard her, feeling a chill on his neck.

He touched his neck, a barely detectable smile curling on his lips.

The next morning at breakfast, Cooper called Jasmine over.

"Sir, is there any issue with the breakfast?"

Jasmine was trembling.

"What I said last night, don’t take it to heart. You did very well. This month, I’ll give you an extra $10,000."

"Ah?" Jasmine was astonished.

Cooper continued, "Did you know the madam hurt her hand?"

Jasmine nodded.

"I found a doctor for her, but she refused treatment. She’s coming today, so please persuade her, or at least find out why she doesn’t want to get treated."

"Oh." Jasmine understood that the $10,000 wasn’t given lightly.

But even without the $10,000, she was willing to help out with what Cooper had commanded.

"Sir," she asked puzzledly, "you clearly still care about the madam, so why do you want to divorce her?"

"I’m not concerned about her."

Cooper helplessly denied this, facing the second person who had misunderstood him.

"Just do as I said."

"Yes, sir." Jasmine tactfully didn’t ask any further.

At around ten in the morning, Yolanda arrived reluctantly.

She didn’t expect Cooper to still be at home; he was just sitting in the living room.

She gritted her teeth, treating Cooper as if he were invisible, and headed straight for the kitchen.

"Ma’am, I really appreciate you doing this," Jasmine expressed her apologies.

Yolanda shook her head, understanding the situation.

She gently patted Charlie King’s arm, "Aunt Jasmine, sorry to trouble you."

"Not at all, not at all," Jasmine shook her head repeatedly.

The two quickly got busy.

Jasmine noticed that Yolanda’s hand was indeed very inconvenient.

"Ma’am, do you really not want to heal your hand? Why?"

In the living room, Cooper Coldson was all ears.
