Chapter 452: Chapter 452: Isn’t Uncle Playing Your Dad?

Yolanda Greenwood glanced at the time, it should still be possible. She noticed Little Ella was clinging closely to her, so she comfortingly patted the little one’s back.

Adam Sterling’s phone call lasted four to five minutes, and after hanging up, he walked over with a troubled expression.

"What happened?" Yolanda Greenwood asked with concern.

"It’s nothing." Adam Sterling shook his head, standing there as if pondering a problem. After a long pause, he slowly said, "How about this, you all go ahead first, I’ll come find you later."

"Daddy..." Little Ella called out timidly.

"Be good, Ella. Daddy will definitely be there before the sports day starts." Adam Sterling tousled the little one’s hair and looked at Yolanda Greenwood, "You take Ella over first."

"Okay." Yolanda Greenwood saw he didn’t want to say more, and didn’t press further.

Adam Sterling picked up his bag, "I’ll take this, just carry Ella. Goodbye, Ella, Dad will be over soon."

"Bye, Daddy, you have to be quick." Little Ella urged, still uneasy.

Yolanda Greenwood held the child and hailed a cab, with Little Ella wearing a worried expression the whole way.

"What’s wrong? Worried about Daddy?"

The little one nodded and then looked at Yolanda Greenwood expectantly, "Will Daddy come later?"

"Of course, Daddy promised and will definitely do it." Yolanda Greenwood gently pinched her daughter’s cheek, "Ella doesn’t need to worry."

They arrived at the kindergarten, where most of the kids and parents were already there.

"Uncle Coldson and brother are over there!" Little Ella quickly spotted Cooper Coldson and Little Gabriel, tugging Yolanda Greenwood toward them.

Cooper Coldson was wearing a black sports outfit today, looking both handsome and youthful, exuding a kind of college-age hormonal attraction that had many moms glancing his way.

"Hi!" Yolanda Greenwood waved to greet.

"Hi!" Cooper Coldson’s expression paused when he saw Yolanda Greenwood, momentarily as if he glimpsed the Yolanda Greenwood from their college days.

That was their happiest time together.

"Is Adam Sterling not coming today?" Cooper Coldson tried to chat naturally.

"Oh, he’s dealing with something, probably will be here a bit later." Yolanda Greenwood smiled while explaining, feeling inexplicably uneasy in the presence of Cooper Coldson at that moment.

She crouched down to adjust Little Ella’s clothes, "Our Gabriel looks so handsome today, cheer for sports day later!"

"Hmm, Daddy and I will definitely win." Little Gabriel nodded confidently.

Little Ella pouted beside him, eagerly looking toward the entrance, clearly anxious about why Adam Sterling hadn’t arrived yet.

"Don’t worry, Daddy will be here soon." Yolanda Greenwood noticed the little one’s mood and reassured her before calling Adam Sterling, but there was no answer.

She had to send a message, [Adam Sterling, when will you come? The sports day is about to start.]

However, this message seemed to disappear without a trace.

After another half hour, the sports day began, with parent-child events scheduled first; some parents had to leave for work after participating.

The first event was the three-legged race, but it required both parents and the child to participate together, so Little Ella signed up, while Little Gabriel didn’t.

That was when the teacher came over to ask, "Did Ella’s Dad arrive?"

Little Ella was about to cry from anxiety.

Yolanda Greenwood apologetically forced a smile, "Sorry teacher, Ella’s Dad had an urgent matter..."

No matter how many times she tried, Adam Sterling’s phone wouldn’t connect. She felt they could only give up on this event.

"Mom," Little Gabriel suddenly spoke up, "Daddy can join you for the event."

"Huh?" Yolanda Greenwood was taken aback, having not thought of this solution at all.

Little Ella’s eyes lit up; she really wanted to join this event, "Mom, can we?"

Yolanda Greenwood instinctively looked at Cooper Coldson, momentarily at a loss for words.

"I’m all for it." Cooper Coldson immediately offered, nervously gripping Little Ella’s clothing.

The teacher, knowing the situation of the two children, smiled and said, "I think it’s possible, Ella loves this event and even plays well at kindergarten, she has a good chance of winning a medal."

"Mom, let’s have Uncle Coldson join us." Little Ella pleaded, looking at Yolanda Greenwood.

"Alright, then we’ll trouble you, Mr. Coldson." Yolanda Greenwood didn’t want to disappoint her daughter and, after checking the entrance again to confirm Adam Sterling truly wasn’t coming, followed Cooper Coldson and the kids to the starting line.

On the way, Yolanda Greenwood worriedly said, "But, we’ve never practiced together, I wonder if we’ll manage."

After signing up for the event, she’d practiced with Adam Sterling and Ella, although not very effectively, she realized this event was tough and required absolute synchronization.

"We’ll know once we try." Cooper Coldson seemed carefree; to him, he was already happy to participate in the event with them.

"Cheer up, we must win!" Little Ella remained spirited.

At the starting line, Cooper Coldson noticed other families had already tied their ankles and suddenly had an idea, asking the teacher, "Can I be in the middle?"

He saw other families with the child in the middle.

The teacher paused, clearly unfamiliar with this arrangement, but since there was no rule against it, they nodded, "It’s possible."

Cooper Coldson raised the corner of his mouth, looking at Yolanda Greenwood excitedly, "You tie this side; I’ll tie to Ella."

"Alright." Yolanda Greenwood nodded, slightly blushing, and crouched to tie their ankles.

On the other side, Cooper Coldson also crouched down, binding himself tightly to Little Ella’s ankle, whispering, "Does Ella want to win?"

"Yes." Little Ella answered decisively.

Cooper Coldson quickly finished tying, gently nuzzling the little one’s nose, "Don’t worry, Daddy will make you win."

"Huh?" Little Ella heard Cooper Coldson’s words.

Cooper Coldson smiled, "In this game now, isn’t Uncle acting as your Daddy?"

"Oh, right." Little Ella soon accepted this explanation, smiling widely, and cooperatively said, "Go Daddy!"

Behind them, Little Gabriel cheerfully jumped up, shouting, "Go Daddy, go Mom, go sister!"

The race started quickly, and what surprised Yolanda Greenwood was that even though they’d never practiced together, they showed great synergy. She knew that Cooper Coldson playing the central role was crucial.

The three of them focused entirely, surpassing several families all the way, reaching the latter half already firmly in the top three.

Yolanda Greenwood felt content within, honestly, from the start, she thought as long as the three completed the race, it was enough; she didn’t expect any ranking.

But Cooper Coldson thought differently; he had to win, and not just win, but take first place.

He noticed that the child in the lead family’s group was relatively tall, with larger strides than Ella, making it difficult for them to catch up.

They were nearing the finish line.
