Chapter 451: Chapter 451: Adam Sterling’s hostility is palpable

Cooper Coldson waited outside for a while, guessing Little Ella had finished her video call, then carefully opened the door and went in.

Sure enough, the little one was already lying down quietly.

He tiptoed over, picked up the phone, and looked at the little princess lying on the bed. An outpouring of boundless affection welled up in his heart. He genuinely wanted to give her the best of everything, but he knew that he wasn’t qualified anymore.

Cooper Coldson sighed softly, then carefully tucked Little Ella in, and gently said, "Good night, sweetheart!"

"Uncle," unexpectedly, the little one wasn’t asleep at all and suddenly opened her big eyes, "Uncle, I’m going home tomorrow."

"Tomorrow? So soon?" Cooper couldn’t help but feel a little reluctant, "Did your mom push you to go back?"

Little Ella thought for a moment, nodded, then tentatively asked, "Can I still come to play at Uncle’s house in the future?"

"Of course." Hearing this, Cooper couldn’t help feeling happy, "You can come anytime you like."

"Then..." The little one felt a bit greedy and hesitated before quietly asking, "Then this room..."

Cooper instantly understood his daughter’s meaning and immediately assured, "This room will always be Ella’s, it will always be kept for her."

"Really?" Little Ella was overjoyed, and she hugged Cooper’s arm tightly, "Thank you, Uncle. Uncle, you’re so nice."

"Silly girl!" Cooper used his other hand to ruffle Little Ella’s hair, "Alright, be good and sleep now. Tomorrow you’ll go to kindergarten with your brother."

"Uncle, good night!" Little Ella obediently lay down and closed her big eyes.

After making sure everything was fine, Cooper got up and quietly left.

The next morning, Adam Sterling told Yolanda Greenwood that Little Ella would come back.

"Today?" Yolanda was slightly surprised. After all, last night she noticed Ella really liked the room Cooper had set up and thought Ella would stay a few more days.

"Yes, today. I’ll pick her up from kindergarten in the evening." Adam said naturally.

"Oh, alright." Yolanda didn’t ask more, but she vaguely felt it was Adam who wanted the child back.

In the evening, Cooper arrived at the kindergarten early and unexpectedly encountered Adam at the entrance.

Cooper nodded and stepped forward a few paces, "Are you here to pick up Ella?"

"Yes, the little one said she missed me last night, and today she insisted I come to pick her up." Adam tugged at the corner of his mouth, "Yesterday, she didn’t trouble you, did she?"

"How could she? Ella was very well-behaved," Cooper said earnestly, "Thank you for raising her so well."

"President Coldson, you’re joking. Taking care of my own daughter doesn’t need anyone’s gratitude." When Adam said this, his tone was undeniably sharp.

Cooper was momentarily stunned; it was the first time he had seen Adam so sharp. After thinking for a moment, he chose not to say anything further.

Soon, Little Ella and Little Gabriel came out together.

"Dad!" The two children shouted together and ran towards the two adults.

Adam picked up Little Ella in one swoop, "Alright Ella, let’s go home."

He nodded at Cooper, holding the child and turning to leave.

"Uncle Coldson, brother, goodbye!" Surprisingly, Little Ella proactively said goodbye to Cooper.

Adam’s expression subtly shifted, and he walked away holding the child.

After getting in the car, he secured Little Ella in the car seat. As he started the car, he asked, "Ella really likes Uncle Coldson?"

"Yes." Little Ella nodded emphatically.

Adam’s expression cooled a bit, and he asked further, "Compared to Dad?"

"Compared to what?" Little Ella didn’t quite understand, but she sensed her dad was unhappy again and shifted uneasily in her seat.

"Do you like Uncle Coldson more, or do you like Dad more?" Adam’s tone was a bit impatient.

Little Ella immediately said, "Of course, I like Dad more."

That answer was clearly satisfactory to Adam. He touched the little one’s head and praised, "Good girl!"

After returning home, Yolanda had already prepared dinner.

During dinner, Yolanda asked Little Ella what she ate and played at Uncle Coldson’s house.

Unexpectedly, Little Ella appeared impatient, repeatedly saying nothing much, completely lacking the excitement from the previous night.

Yolanda found it strange and glanced at Adam, only to find a faint, barely noticeable smile on his lips.

At night, she coaxed Ella to sleep.

"Mom," Little Ella mysteriously said, "Dad seems not to like Uncle Coldson. Let’s not mention Uncle Coldson in front of him anymore."

Yolanda frowned, "How does Ella know Dad doesn’t like Uncle Coldson?"

"I just know." The little girl was utterly confident.

Yolanda knew her daughter appeared obedient, but this child was always sensitive and very responsive to adult emotions. Today, for Ella to say this, Adam must have shown it in front of Ella.

She felt a bit sorry for the little one, kissed her forehead, and then curiously asked, "And Ella... do you like Uncle Coldson?"

"Yes, Uncle Coldson is very nice and treats me very well." Little Ella giggled and immediately reminded Yolanda, "But mom, this is our secret. Don’t tell Dad, okay?"

"Alright. Good girl, sleep now!" That night, Yolanda didn’t sleep well.

She kept thinking about whether to talk with Adam. But on second thought, Adam probably felt very insecure.

In the end, she decided to temporarily listen to her daughter and try not to bring up Cooper in front of Adam.

Time passed quickly; before they knew it, it was already May.

May in Gray City was particularly beautiful, with gentle spring winds and booming life, full of vitality everywhere.

The kindergarten was going to hold a parent-child sports day, and Little Ella signed up for three events, two of which required Yolanda and Adam to participate together.

That morning, the family of three got up early, with Adam checking things and Yolanda helping Little Ella get dressed.

For today’s sports day, the three wore matching family sports outfits, all in an off-white color, looking especially harmonious.

"There shouldn’t be anything wrong now." Adam quickly finished checking.

"Yes, no problems here either." Yolanda also checked Little Ella thoroughly.

"Ella," Adam picked up his daughter, "do you feel confident to win a medal today?"

"Yes!" The little one was full of confidence!

"Great, then let’s go!" Adam was obviously in a good mood, knowing that Cooper was also bound to come today.

"Let’s go!" Little Ella pumped her tiny fist, looking full of determination.

Adam and Yolanda couldn’t help but exchange smiles.

However, just as the three stepped out the door, Adam’s phone rang.

"Come on, I’ll hold Ella." Yolanda took over holding Little Ella, allowing Adam to take the call.

Adam glanced at the number; it was somewhat unfamiliar. He hesitated for a moment but decided to answer.

However, in just an instant, his expression noticeably changed. He glanced at Yolanda, then stepped aside to take the call.
