Chapter 446: Chapter 446 Cooper Coldson Seems to be Tortured Publicly
In an instant, everyone in the living room was stunned, even Christopher Coldson, who was carrying a fruit platter, shifted his gaze from Lola Gold to the still-furious Jaxon Greenwood.
"Tell me, what did our Yolanda do to wrong you? Why do you insist on divorcing her?" Jaxon Greenwood continued to scold.
"Dad!" Yolanda Greenwood was the first to react, quickly rushing over and squatting beside the wheelchair, "Dad, you’re mistaken. Cooper and I divorced a long time ago, please don’t say any more."
She knew that Old Master Greenwood was having another episode, thinking that she and Cooper were still married.
She apologetically glanced at Cooper, only to see Cooper’s face was as pale as a sheet.
"You two are divorced?" Jaxon Greenwood tenderly caressed Yolanda’s face, "My darling daughter, did he force you? Dad will teach him a lesson for you, teach him a lesson."
The old master said, attempting to stand up from the wheelchair, but ended up falling forward.
Cooper was quick to react, stepping forward to catch him, "Uncle Greenwood..."
"Get away, you bastard!" Jaxon Greenwood forcefully pushed Cooper away, falling back into the wheelchair, "You’ve missed out on my Yolanda, you’ll regret it for life!"
Cooper stood there helplessly, feeling as if on pins and needles. Yes, Jaxon’s words were right, he would indeed regret missing Yolanda for the rest of his life, but hearing it spoken out loud felt unbearable, and he almost didn’t dare to meet anyone’s eyes.
"Waaaah..." Little Ella suddenly burst into tears behind them, clearly frightened.
Everyone immediately scrambled in response.
Isabella Ross cast a sympathetic glance at her son, then turned to Noah Coldson, "Take the two children upstairs."
"Big brother, I’ll help you." Lola Gold immediately stepped forward to pick up Little Ella, "Ella, be good, don’t cry. Godmother will take you upstairs to play for a bit."
Noah Coldson took Little Gabriel’s hand, "Come on, Gabe, let’s go upstairs and play with your sister."
Little Gabriel looked back every few steps; to him, his tall, warm but clumsy father now seemed like a child who had done wrong. He wanted to hug his dad, but his sister was still crying.
Having no choice, the little guy lowered his head, his eyes reddening, and didn’t dare to look back anymore.
After watching the two children leave, Isabella Ross suddenly lost her temper, "What does the Greenwood Family mean by all this?"
"Aunt Ross, I’m really sorry," Yolanda Greenwood hurriedly apologized, "My dad... he didn’t mean it, there’s some things he can’t remember clearly, I’m truly sorry."
As she spoke, she looked again at Cooper. Jaxon’s words had left her heart in turmoil, but now was not the time to dwell on them.
She saw Cooper’s face was frighteningly pale, even more than a sheet of paper.
"Yolanda, killing is nothing more than nodding your head. Even if our Cooper wronged you back then, do you know how he’s been living these past three years?" Isabella Ross was genuinely heartbroken for her son, feeling aggrieved on his behalf.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry..." Yolanda was on the verge of tears.
"Yolanda, you don’t need to apologize to them," Jaxon Greenwood was still not in his right mind, "They Coldson’s daughter-in-law, we don’t need to be. Come with Dad."
"Go!" Isabella pointed towards the door.
"Mom!" Cooper finally spoke, but his voice was slightly hoarse, carrying a distinct plea.
Isabella Ross thought of what Cooper had said in the hospital that day, and no matter how much anger she had, she could only swallow it.
"You, you!" She couldn’t say anything more, turning to go to her room.
"Cooper, I’ll go check on your mom," Christopher Coldson sighed, "I’ll leave things here to you."
In the blink of an eye, what had been a joyous and lively birthday party was left with only Yolanda Greenwood, Cooper Coldson, Adam Sterling, and the still-angry Jaxon Greenwood.
"Cooper, I’m sorry." Yolanda apologized again, "I’ll take my dad back first, as for Ella... I’ll come back for her later."
She stood up, preparing to push the wheelchair, but Jaxon Greenwood grabbed her hand, "Where are you going?"
"Dad, we’re going home." Yolanda sniffed, trying hard to put on a smile.
Jaxon Greenwood glanced at Cooper, "And him?"
Yolanda frowned, "Cooper naturally stays here, this is his home."
"No, if one stays, you stay too; if one leaves, so does the other." Jaxon Greenwood had a stubborn expression, "Yolanda, Daddy knows your feelings for him, you can’t just give up like this, Daddy worries you’ll be sad in the future."
As these words were spoken, the other three people’s faces changed.
Yolanda and Cooper almost tacitly looked towards the silent Adam Sterling, and there was actually a sense of apology on their faces.
Adam Sterling smiled slightly at Yolanda, "How about this, I’ll take Dad back first, and when Ella feels better, you take her home."
"Adam..." Yolanda stepped forward, she really didn’t expect Jaxon would say these things, "I’ll go back with you all."
"No need, look at Dad’s condition right now," Adam Sterling gently hugged Yolanda, "I’m fine, I’ll wait for you at home."
He quickly released Yolanda, pushing Jaxon towards the exit, "Let’s go home first."
"Okay, okay, thank you." Jaxon Greenwood looked back frantically at Yolanda, making them both feel even more awkward.
Soon, only Cooper Coldson and Yolanda Greenwood were left in the living room.
Yolanda looked at Cooper, seeing that his face still wasn’t looking good, she softly asked with concern, "Are... are you okay?"
Cooper shook his head, then began again, "I’m okay."
"My dad has Alzheimer’s disease, although he’s been actively receiving treatment, sometimes he just suddenly relapses, with chaotic memory," Yolanda offered an apologetic expression, "He... probably forgot about recent events again, thinking... we haven’t divorced yet."
"I understand, I really am fine." Cooper tried hard to move his fingers, ensuring he was indeed okay, before speaking again, "Do you want to go check on Ella upstairs? Or... sit on the sofa for a bit?"
Yolanda thought for a moment, "I’ll sit for a while, with Lola there, Ella should be fine."
Moreover, she didn’t want to take Ella back yet, as Ella was already somewhat scared of Jaxon, and this incident might have scared her even more. Who knows how to deal with it later?
"Alright, you sit, I’ll get you some water." Cooper went into the kitchen, realizing his hand was still shaking; Jaxon Greenwood’s actions just now had felt like torture to him, and he feared he might not hold up.
He first drank a glass of water himself, feeling his whole body calm down, before bringing out another cup and placing it in front of Yolanda, "Drink some, it might make you feel a bit better."
"Thank you." Yolanda noticed that Cooper’s complexion had improved a lot, and she finally felt a sense of relief.
Jaxon’s words kept repeating in her mind.
Three years? Was it the three years of her amnesia? Why did Isabella say she had no idea how Cooper got through? What really happened in the accident back then?
After drinking a few sips of water, she put down the cup and tentatively asked, "Cooper, what did your mom mean by what she just said?"
"Hm?" Cooper was startled, immediately looking over.
