Chapter 443: Please Keep My Secret
Chapter 443: Chapter 443: Please Keep My Secret
Seeing that it was almost Little Gabriel and Little Ella’s birthday, this was the first time the two children would celebrate together, and also the first time Yolanda Greenwood would celebrate Gabriel’s birthday. She was particularly looking forward to it.
Early that morning, she discussed with Adam Sterling, "I want to bring Dad over to stay for a while, and then we’ll celebrate the kids’ birthday together."
"Sure," Adam Sterling readily agreed. Then, remembering something, he reminded her, "But if Dad comes over, we won’t have enough space in our place, so..."
"Don’t worry, I’ve been looking into it these days. There’s a three-bedroom apartment available, and I’m going to see it this afternoon." Yolanda Greenwood was obviously prepared.
"Alright, once you secure the place, we’ll bring Dad over," Adam Sterling fully supported her plan.
Yolanda Greenwood nodded happily and said to Adam Sterling, "Thank you."
Jaxon Greenwood’s Alzheimer’s was unpredictable; when he was well, he seemed no different from a normal person, but during episodes, he didn’t recognize anyone.
He couldn’t walk at all now and relied on a wheelchair to get around, so bringing him over would surely involve a lot of trouble.
So, Yolanda Greenwood was genuinely grateful to Adam Sterling.
In the afternoon, she called Daisy Dawson, and the two of them went to see the apartment.
The apartment was recommended by Daisy Dawson, who said a friend had moved abroad, and the place had been vacant for a while. They were looking for trustworthy tenants, and the rent wasn’t high but required proper maintenance.
"It’s so big?" Yolanda Greenwood was stunned as she walked in. The apartment was spacious, elegantly decorated yet understated, a clear indication of wealthy owners.
"I told you, the family is rich; money is no issue," Daisy Dawson said with a smug grin. "The owner isn’t renting it out for money, so Sister Yolanda, your family can settle in peacefully."
Yolanda Greenwood felt a little embarrassed, "Maybe we should add another thousand to the rent."
"Sister Yolanda, my dear sister, why not save where you can?" Daisy Dawson reasoned, "Ella’s schooling costs money, and there will be expenses when the old man comes, not to mention, the owner really doesn’t need the money."
She chuckled, "If I didn’t mind cleaning all by myself, I’d have moved in already, and I certainly wouldn’t pay them a penny."
"Alright then, thank you, Daisy," Yolanda Greenwood felt more comfortable knowing her family would live better.
When signing the contract, they used Daisy Dawson’s ID.
Daisy explained, "The whole family is abroad; using their IDs is inconvenient. Sister Yolanda, don’t worry..."
She handed Yolanda a WeChat account, "You can transfer the rent to this account; I won’t cheat you."
Yolanda opened the WeChat account and noticed it seemed new with nothing on it, but then thought perhaps the person didn’t like posting to Moments, so she didn’t ask further.
After signing the contract, Yolanda transferred four months’ rent at once, with a deposit of one month’s rent, and sent a message, "The apartment is beautiful. Thank you, we will take good care of it."
The response came almost immediately, "I’m glad you like it."
Then, the payment was collected.
"Feel reassured?" Daisy handed over the keys to Yolanda. "Settle in comfortably, and you can always talk to the landlord if anything comes up."
Yolanda curiously asked, "By the way, what’s the landlord’s last name? How should I address him?"
"Huh?" Daisy shook her head, "Just call him landlord, there’s no need for formalities. Treat him as a friend, he’s a good person."
"Okay." Yolanda noticed the landlord’s WeChat name was an equal sign, so she changed the note to ’Landlord’, and with that, the matter was settled.
"Sister Yolanda, when are you moving? Need me to find a few people to help you?" Daisy eagerly offered.
Yolanda shook her head, "No need, I don’t have much stuff, and it’s not far from here. I have enough friends to help, thank you, Daisy."
"Sister Yolanda is always so polite with me, anytime you need, just ask." Daisy left.
Yolanda returned to the apartment, genuinely liking it. She didn’t know why, but many of the furnishings made her feel very familiar, like she’d been here before and thought there should be a lamp in a certain spot, only to find there was indeed a lamp there.
Every part of the room seemed like she had personally designed it.
She happily took several photos and sent them to Lola Gold, "Lola, I found a place and plan to bring Dad over in the next few days. Can you help me move tomorrow?"
"Oh my gosh, Yolanda, how much is this place? It’s big and beautiful, did you get a big order recently?" Lola Gold’s tone was full of envy.
She turned to Caleb Sullivan in the kitchen, "Caleb, Yolanda’s moving tomorrow, let’s go help her, she found a really beautiful apartment."
Caleb Sullivan was washing fruit and paused for a moment before quickly responding, "Alright."
Yolanda told Lola Gold that the rent wasn’t high, and she was just lucky, which made Lola even more envious.
But after she closed her phone, Lola felt something wasn’t quite right. She guessed it couldn’t be such a coincidence, but no matter who was doing good deeds in the background, there was no need to inform Yolanda.
Meanwhile, after parting with Yolanda, Daisy quickly received a WeChat message.
"Thank you."
Daisy smiled and shook her head, quickly typing back, "Is President Coldson sure about doing a good deed anonymously?"
As expected, the apartment belonged to Cooper Coldson, who chuckled bitterly, "If Yolanda knew the apartment was mine, she wouldn’t stay. Please keep this secret for me."
Daisy deleted the WeChat conversation. For the first time, she felt she might really be in a cliché drama of a domineering CEO falling in love with her, except the heroine was her good sister Yolanda.
Earlier, when Yolanda said she was looking for an apartment and asked Daisy to keep an eye out, Daisy checked online and with agencies. Somehow, though, Cooper Coldson found out and called her directly.
Cooper Coldson was ecstatic when he heard it was for Yolanda, eager to rent out the place even at a loss. After discussing it with Daisy, he insisted on not letting Yolanda know it was his. Daisy then came up with the idea of saying it was a house of her friend moving abroad.
After she told Yolanda, Yolanda was naturally very happy and quickly signed after seeing the place, making it a win-win situation.
The next day, after dropping Little Ella off at kindergarten, Yolanda and the others started moving.
Caleb Sullivan was especially enthusiastic, taking the lead in moving things and even buying a beautiful vase as a housewarming gift.
After everything was moved, it was already noon. Yolanda suggested treating Caleb Sullivan and Lola Gold to lunch, and they naturally didn’t refuse. The four of them went to a nearby small restaurant.
During the meal, Caleb Sullivan remarked enviously, "This rent is too cheap. I took a quick look; the decor inside must be worth at least hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is like winning the lottery."
