Chapter 440: Chapter 440 Yolanda Greenwood’s Brain Instantly Crashes
Adam looked up at Lola Gold, tears glistening in his eyes.
Lola continued, "I admit, Cooper has changed a lot. If you hadn’t intervened, I might have wished Yolanda to be with him, but now... Adam, don’t give up easily."
"You’ve been playing husband and wife with Yolanda for three years, and Ella relies on you so much. You have hope." She nodded firmly, "Trust me, Yolanda will choose you."
Adam looked at Lola Gold, his expression wavering.
"Alright, it’s getting late, you should go back." Lola stood up and pulled him, "Did you tell Yolanda you were drinking with me before you went out?"
"No." Adam’s tone was petulant, "She deceived me, so I want to deceive her too."
"Childish!" Lola thought for a moment and called Noah Coldson over.
"Why did you drink so much?" Noah was a bit surprised but suddenly understood the true meaning behind Yolanda’s phone call, looking somewhat worried.
"Fell in love, I guess." Lola handed him over to Noah, "Take him back. Maybe with the help of alcohol... some things will naturally fall into place."
Noah’s expression immediately changed.
"Alright, I was joking." Lola picked up her bag, "I’m leaving, bye-bye."
Noah struggled to get him into the car and sternly warned him, "If you dare throw up in the car, I’ll twist your head off."
"Tch!" Adam didn’t say anything, resting his head against the seat back, eyes closed.
Along the way, Noah glanced at Adam several times, wanting to say something but ultimately not saying anything.
Upon reaching the destination, he helped Adam upstairs and knocked on the door.
Yolanda quickly got up to open the door, "Brother?"
In the next moment, she saw Adam, drunk as a skunk, eyes widening in shock, "What’s wrong with him? Why did he drink so much?"
"Probably not in a good mood." Noah tugged at his mouth and said, "Right after your call, I went to find him, couldn’t stop him. You two... didn’t fight, did you?"
"No." Yolanda led him inside, "We should change his clothes."
She looked at Noah for help.
"Okay. You find some clean clothes, I’ll help him change."
"Thank you, brother." Yolanda quickly found clean clothes and made some warm water for Adam to drink.
"Adam, do you want to puke?" Noah asked worriedly.
Adam shook his head, slurring, "I’m fine, I’m fine."
"Yeah, right." Noah shook his head and looked at Yolanda, "What should we do? Where should we put him?"
"The... sofa, I guess, Ella’s in the bedroom, better not wake her." Yolanda whispered.
"Alright." Noah helped put him on the sofa.
The two looked at Adam helplessly.
"Really sorry for the trouble, brother," Yolanda said awkwardly, "Can I get you a glass of juice?"
"No need, I’m heading back." Noah hesitated a bit before speaking, "Actually, this place is really too small. The two of you sharing a bedroom with Ella is inconvenient."
"Yes." Yolanda lowered her head, "I’ve been looking for a place these days."
"If you need help, just call me anytime." Noah quickly left, unsure where their relationship had developed to and didn’t want to overthink it.
As Yolanda’s friend, he felt that whether it was Cooper or Adam, either could make Yolanda happy.
He let out a long breath as he exited the building, "Let them sort it out themselves."
Upstairs, Yolanda saw off Noah and then poured a glass of warm water, crouching by the sofa, "Adam, would you like to drink some more water?"
Adam hazily opened his eyes. His legs and mouth wouldn’t obey, but his mind was extraordinarily clear, remembering perfectly what Lola had said.
He grabbed Yolanda’s hand, looking steadily into her eyes.
"Adam," Yolanda whispered, afraid to wake little Ella, "Let go, you’re hurting me."
Adam didn’t let go and pulled her closer with a strong tug.
"Yolanda..." he murmured softly and then leaned forward to kiss her.
In an instant, Yolanda’s mind went blank. She didn’t even have time to think about how to react before her body acted.
She pushed Adam away instantly, got up, and retreated a step, her face filled with shock.
Adam fell back, his face full of regret, bowing his head, not daring to look at Yolanda’s expression.
"Adam, you’re drunk, you should rest early." Yolanda placed the glass on the coffee table, "I’ll leave the water here, if you want to drink, you can take it yourself. I’m going to rest."
She practically fled back into the bedroom.
Adam lay down, opened his eyes, and then slapped himself, "Idiot!"
In the bedroom, Yolanda leaned against the door, her whole body trembling. She didn’t know why her reaction was so intense.
Hadn’t she prepared to accept Adam? Why did she just push him away?
She knew that was her subconscious reaction, the most true response she had. How could she do this?
Yolanda closed her eyes, her body weakly slumping down, but suddenly Cooper’s tanned face flashed before her eyes, startling her to open her eyes wide.
What was going on?
Yolanda was filled with fear, wondering why she thought of him at such a moment?
She clenched her hand into a fist, biting it with her teeth, silently repeating to herself: Yolanda, calm down, you have nothing to do with Cooper, nor will you in the future, you can’t betray Adam, otherwise, how could you face your daughter?
That night, Yolanda slept very uneasily. When she woke up the next day, her pillow was wet.
"Mom, what’s wrong?" Little Ella looked at her worriedly, gently wiping away the tears on her mother’s face, "Mom, did you have a nightmare?"
Yolanda sat up and hastily wiped her tears, "Yes, mom had a nightmare, it’s nothing."
She gently kissed her daughter’s cheek, "Ella, don’t worry, mom’s okay now."
She helped Ella get dressed, dressed herself up neatly, and then went out of the bedroom.
"Awake?" Adam’s voice sounded as usual, "Breakfast is ready, I wiped the floor and opened the window, there shouldn’t be any bad smell now, right?"
Little Ella sniffed like a puppy, "Dad drank?"
"You and that keen nose." Adam looked at Yolanda, "Should I spray some air freshener?"
"No need, there’s no smell now." Yolanda diverted her gaze, looking at Little Ella, "Ella, hurry and wash up, get ready for breakfast, or you’ll be late."
"Okay." Little Ella immediately followed Yolanda to wash up.
During breakfast, Adam noticed the dark circles under Yolanda’s eyes, "I’ll drop Ella at the kindergarten today. You didn’t sleep well last night, take a nap later."
"Okay." Yolanda still kept her head down, not looking at Adam, "Sorry to trouble you."
On the way to the kindergarten, Little Ella was worried, "Dad, did you make mom angry again? She cried for a long time last night, her pillow was all wet."
