Entangled with My Cousin's Fiancé
Chapter 439: Are You Unsettled Because of Cooper Coldson?

Chapter 439: Chapter 439: Are You Unsettled Because of Cooper Coldson?

Cooper immediately went after Yolanda Greenwood, who happened to be waiting for the elevator.

"Yolanda, let me take you home." He walked a few steps forward, worried that she might refuse, "I happen to have something to go out for."

Yolanda hesitated a little, but still nodded, "Thank you."

The two went downstairs together. This time, people who saw them didn’t dare to greet them, only stood at a distance with their heads bowed.

Yolanda noticed that Cooper seemed to be accustomed to it.

Cooper personally drove, Yolanda thought for a moment, and sat in the passenger seat.

On the way, Yolanda advised, "About Caleb Sullivan, I hope you don’t tell Lola..."

"Don’t worry, I won’t say anything." Cooper glanced quickly at Yolanda, but dared not say too much, fearing she would become annoyed.

"Also, don’t tell Adam Sterling," Yolanda added.

She knew Adam wasn’t reckless, but there was still her and Lola Gold between them; Adam was a principled person, and he wouldn’t treat Caleb kindly.

"Okay." Cooper couldn’t help but feel a bit happy, as this matter became a secret between him and Yolanda.

He knew his own thoughts were somewhat humble, but now, he could only choose to love Yolanda with humility, which was his deserved punishment.

Smoothly, the car quickly stopped under Yolanda’s apartment. As she got out, she saw Adam.

She frowned, said a quick goodbye to Cooper, and left in a hurry.

Cooper sat in the car, watching Yolanda and Adam enter the building together before sighing lightly and driving away.

Once in the elevator, Adam remained silent, his expression unreadable.

"Adam, don’t misunderstand, I just met a client and happened to run into Cooper, so he gave me a ride back." Yolanda cautiously fibbed.

"Yolanda, you don’t need to explain, I believe you." Adam forced a smile.

This made Yolanda feel even more uneasy, knowing she had indeed done something wrong.

Unexpectedly, after dinner, Adam proposed to go out, "An old comrade contacted me, wants to have a drink."

"Oh, that’s a good thing, I didn’t expect you to have friends in Gray City." Yolanda smiled as she saw him out, "Drink less, and remember to come back early."

"Sure." Adam left.

Yolanda closed the door and saw Little Ella looking at her with concern.

"Mom, did you make Dad unhappy?"

Who said a three-year-old doesn’t understand anything? They are the most sensitive ones.

Yolanda smiled, squatting in front of the little one, "Yes, Mom did something wrong, but don’t worry Ella, Mom will make it up to Dad."

"Okay." Little Ella blinked her big eyes, "Mom, can I video call my brother? I want to tell him the good news about going to kindergarten tomorrow."

"Sure, but Mom wants to make a phone call first." Yolanda took the phone and dialed Noah Coldson’s number.

Noah was at the old house, having been dragged around to look at houses by Christopher Coldson recently. Christopher decided to return to Gray City but refused to live in any of the previous houses since they all bore the marks of his affairs with Lola.

Seeing it was Yolanda calling, Noah was a bit surprised, as he thought he had already lost the chance to compete for that spot beside Yolanda.

One as a good brother, the other as a real brother, and instead of fighting back and forth, it might be the longest-lasting choice to be friends with Yolanda.

"Yolanda? What’s up?"

"Big brother, have you gone out?" Yolanda asked with a smile.

"Go out? For what?" Noah was somewhat helpless, "I just accompanied Little Uncle to see several villas and just got back to the old house. Yolanda, is there something you need?"

"Nothing really, I just saw someone and thought it was you." Yolanda exchanged a few pleasantries before hanging up.

She was sure now, Adam had lied.

She knew how good the relationship between Adam and Noah was. If an old comrade really contacted Adam, it was impossible for Noah not to go.

"Mom?" Little Ella, seeing Yolanda lost in thought, tentatively called out.

"Alright, you can make the call." Yolanda handed the phone to Little Ella, "Fifteen minutes, then you have to go to bed, okay?"

Little Ella nodded and took the phone back to the bedroom.

Adam left and took a taxi directly to a quiet bar; he wanted to drink and also find someone to talk to.

By the time he arrived, the other person was already there.

"Adam, over here!" Lola Gold stood up and waved at him.

Adam nodded, went to the bar to order a few bottles of wine, then sat across from Lola, "Calling you out for drinks so late at night, won’t your husband mind?"

"No, I said Yolanda asked me out, and he didn’t ask anything." Lola felt that Caleb had been acting strange lately, but since Adam reached out wanting to have drinks, it was clearly not to hear about her unhappy married life.

The drinks quickly arrived; indeed, Adam ordered quite a lot.

Lola was slightly surprised. When Adam contacted her to meet, she suspected something was up, but seeing the scene before her, it felt like it was not a small matter.

"What’s up? Did you fight with Yolanda?" she tentatively asked.

Adam shook his head, "No."

"Let’s drink first." He only felt a heaviness in his heart, but didn’t know what he wanted to say.

Lola tactfully didn’t ask more questions. After Yolanda’s memory loss, she had grown closer to Adam; it seemed they shared a common secret, making them sometimes closer than with Yolanda.

Adam wasn’t a good drinker; usually restrained and calm, he rarely got drunk, so today he quickly became somewhat incoherent, speaking more freely.

"Should I not have let Yolanda come back?" He said in a drunken haze.

Lola didn’t drink much, waiting for Adam to speak, "What’s wrong? What happened?"

Adam didn’t seem to hear her, muttering to himself, "I’ve been too greedy."

Lola vaguely guessed what he meant, and slowly spoke, "Back then, you sent the kindergarten information to Yolanda, pushing her to choose Gray City, hoping she’d regain her memories, right?"

She paused, then continued, "You... are no longer satisfied with a sham marriage with Yolanda."

"We can’t be a fake couple forever," Adam said with a bitter smile, forcing his eyes open to look at her, "You know? I don’t even have the right to sign... I simply cannot be a qualified husband."

Lola sighed softly, "Are you feeling uneasy now? Is it because of Cooper?"

Adam didn’t answer, picked up the wine glass before him, and drank silently again.

"Stop drinking." Lola pressed Adam’s hand, "People indeed can fall for the same person again, especially now with Cooper. Yolanda has forgotten those painful memories; she indeed might fall for Cooper again, but..."

She squeezed Adam’s hand tightly, "But have you thought about it, some things that happened just happened, Yolanda will eventually remember, and when that time comes, will she still accept Cooper?"
