Chapter 416: Chapter 416: Obviously, We Are the Real Family

"Adam, we are a couple, actually I should have..." Yolanda Greenwood looked apologetic.

Adam Sterling chuckled softly and shook his head, "Forget it; I’ll sleep on the sofa. By the way, are you hungry? Want to eat something first?"

"Adam, I’m willing," Yolanda grabbed Adam’s arm anxiously.

Adam smiled and withdrew his arm, "Yolanda, until you regain your memory, we’ll continue as before."

"..." Yolanda looked at Adam, moved.

Adam smiled, "Some things aren’t that urgent; three years or five years, we have time to wait."

"Thank you, Adam." Yolanda lowered her head, secretly relieved for she indeed wasn’t ready yet.

At the hospital, everyone else had left, leaving only Cooper Coldson and Little Gabriel.

Little Gabriel lay on the hospital bed, refusing to eat and silently shedding tears. Clearly, he was also deeply saddened.

Cooper Coldson sat by the bed and asked softly, "Gabriel, can you tell Dad why you don’t like Uncle Adam?"

Little Gabriel turned his head to look at him, "Doesn’t Dad dislike him?"

Cooper was startled, for the first time seeing a strong emotion resembling hate in Little Gabriel’s eyes.

"Why?" Cooper couldn’t understand; Little Gabriel, despite having autism, rarely treated someone this way whom he hadn’t met many times.

Patiently, he said, "Gabriel, you are ill, and Uncle Adam came specially to see you tonight. He even bought dinner for everyone. Why don’t you like him?"

"I don’t like him; I just don’t like him." To Cooper’s surprise, Little Gabriel lost control again, and snapped, "He’s a bad man; he wants to steal Mom and my sister; I hate him; I hate him."

He looked up at Cooper, "I even hate Dad!"

Cooper sat there dazed, feeling an unprecedented pain in his heart. He hadn’t expected Little Gabriel to consider these things, let alone hate Adam as a result.

He took a deep breath before speaking slowly, "Gabriel, listen to Dad; in the three years Mom was away, Uncle Adam took care of Mom and your sister. So, we shouldn’t dislike him but should thank him."

"Dad, Mom is back now; she’s here with us," Little Gabriel excitedly grabbed Cooper’s large hand, "Dad, we can take care of Mom and my sister; we don’t need that Uncle Adam."

"But..." Cooper looked at Little Gabriel, unsure of what to say.

"Dad, don’t we have lots and lots of money?" Little Gabriel was getting more and more excited, "We can give that uncle money, lots and lots of money, and make him let Mom and my sister come back to us. Okay? Okay?"

"Gabriel," Cooper’s emotions were also becoming agitated. He didn’t understand why Little Gabriel had such thoughts, "Listen to Dad, Mom is not a product to be bought and sold. No matter how much money we have, you can’t have such an idea."

Little Gabriel’s face turned pale, staring blankly ahead, tears flowing endlessly.

"Gabriel, Daddy, like you, hopes Mom and my sister will come back. But this matter, we also need to ask Mom and my sister’s opinions..." Cooper thought about Little Ella’s reaction earlier, and found he couldn’t continue.

He paused for a while before continuing, "But no matter what, we both love Mom and my sister, right? However, your actions just now will only upset Mom and my sister. Do you understand?"

Little Gabriel’s eyes moved, looking at Cooper, "What about Dad? Doesn’t Dad feel sad? Don’t I feel sad? Clearly, we are the real family."

"Gabriel, good boy, good boy." Cooper moved forward to embrace the little one, "Trust Dad, even if we are not together, Mom still loves you. Trust Dad."

"No!" Unable to control himself anymore, Little Gabriel broke out in loud sobs, "I want Mom by my side, just like with my sister; I don’t want Mom to be with that uncle! I don’t want it!"

He cried out, struggling, hitting Cooper with his fists.

Cooper continued to hold him tightly, attempting to soothe his emotions, "Good, Gabriel, good. It’s okay, it’s okay!"

Little Gabriel fussed for a good while before finally quieting down.

Cooper put him down, letting him lie obediently, "Gabriel, sleep awhile; when you wake up tomorrow, Mom will be here."

Little Gabriel asked with red eyes, "What about my sister? Will she come?"

Cooper didn’t know how to answer and couldn’t bear to lie to the little boy.

"Sis is angry; she won’t come," Little Gabriel answered himself, then turned over, his back facing Cooper.

Cooper wanted to say something but opened his mouth and ultimately didn’t know what else to say.

Exhausted, he seated himself back on the sofa, pinching his brows, closing his eyes but unable to sleep.

Lola Gold learned about this incident the next day, along with Yolanda Greenwood, she went to the shop to change clothes, causing a commotion with the shop owner, Mina Stone.

"This clothing definitely has issues, otherwise how could the child’s body develop so many rashes?"

Mina Stone kept apologizing, "Really sorry, maybe the child’s skin is too sensitive, but... if it had been discovered earlier, it shouldn’t have been a big problem."

"That’s nonsense!" Lola Gold couldn’t help cursing, "I don’t care; there’s a problem now; the child is hospitalized. How do you plan to compensate?"

"Really sorry, how about this? We will waive all rental fees, okay?"

Lola Gold laughed angrily, "What? The child is already hospitalized, and you want to resolve it by not charging? I’ll tell you, that’s not happening. If you can’t satisfy us, I’ll complain to the mall."

"Really sorry, but honestly, with such a serious problem, parents have responsibilities too, right?" Mina cautiously looked at Yolanda, "We can’t just be entirely responsible; we are a small business and don’t have much money to compensate you."

"Forget it." Yolanda was tired of the argument, and as Mina said, if the parents had discovered it earlier, the child wouldn’t have been severely harmed; ultimately, she shared responsibility.

She was already very annoyed, so she pulled Lola away, "Let’s go, accompany me to the hospital to see Gabriel."

Mina chased them out of the store, "May I ask which hospital the injured child is in? Can we visit, show a token of goodwill?"

"No need." Yolanda coldly refused.

Mina watched as they left, frightened to the point of sweating down her back. Thankfully, Elsie Adams was right; the child was indeed sick, and the parents couldn’t press charges.

She returned to the shop and quickly sent a message to Elsie Adams, [They came looking, but didn’t cause much trouble. I heard the child is hospitalized, although I don’t know which hospital.]

Elsie Adams quickly replied, [Okay, thank you. I’ll treat you to dinner another day.]

She knew which hospital Little Gabriel would go to.
