Chapter 417: How is this any different from cheating?

Chapter 417: Chapter 417: How is this any different from cheating?

Elsie Adams received the news and immediately packed up to go to the hospital, where she encountered Isabella Ross.

"Aunt Ross, what are you doing here?" She knew Isabella wasn’t simple-minded and feared her suspicion, so she claimed she was visiting a friend’s child.

Isabella wasn’t in a good mood and frowned slightly as she said, "Gabriel is injured."

"What?" Elsie displayed an exaggerated expression, "Gabriel is injured? What’s going on? Is it serious?"

Suddenly Isabella remembered something and questioned, "Where did you see Yolanda Greenwood and Gabriel that day? What were they doing?"

"That day..." Elsie pretended to recall, "It was at the mall, probably shopping, nothing particular."

She quickly asked with concern, "Aunt Ross, what kind of injury did Gabriel sustain? Is it serious?"

"Not serious, he can be discharged today." Isabella headed towards the elevator.

Elsie hurried to follow, deliberately asking, "Glad to hear it’s not serious, but how did he get hurt? We should be more careful in the future."

Isabella gritted her teeth, "Enough, stop asking."

"Oh, then I won’t ask anymore, Aunt Ross, don’t be too upset." Elsie was a bit puzzled, thinking Isabella would seize the chance to criticize Yolanda Greenwood, but unexpectedly, Isabella held back. She frowned and added, "Let me come with you to see Gabriel."

"Alright." Isabella didn’t refuse and advised earnestly, "Elsie, if you really care about Cooper, you can’t just rely on Aunt to find ways. You should make an effort too, and spend some time getting noticed by him."

Upon hearing this, Elsie felt relieved and sighed, "Aunt Ross, do you think I don’t want to? But I’ve been fired from the kindergarten, where would I have the chance to get close to Cooper?"

She boldly reached to hold Isabella’s hand, "Aunt Ross, you have to help me!"

Isabella didn’t speak but truly didn’t want Cooper to get involved with Yolanda Greenwood anymore. She thought for a moment before nodding in agreement, "Alright, I’ll help you think of something, but you also need to strive and perform well."

"Thank you, Aunt Ross, I’ll definitely perform well." Elsie rejoiced inwardly.

In the hospital room, Cooper was peeling an apple for Little Gabriel, who seemed to be waiting for someone. Upon hearing the noise, he immediately looked towards the door, but upon seeing who entered, he was clearly disappointed.

"Mom," Cooper noticed them and stood up to greet them, "Elsie Adams? What brings you here?"

"Met her downstairs, heard Gabriel is ill, Elsie insisted on coming to check," Isabella specifically praised, "It’s rare. When Elsie was in kindergarten, she took such good care of Gabriel. Even now, she’s not at the kindergarten anymore, still thinking of Gabriel, really admirable."

Cooper smirked a bit, and unable to directly send her away upon hearing this, he could only tell Little Gabriel, "Gabriel, look, Teacher Adams is here to see you."

"Gabriel? Remember your teacher?" Elsie smiled, stepping forward, "What doesn’t feel well?"

Little Gabriel laid there, turned away as Elsie approached, giving her the back of his head.

Elsie awkwardly pulled a smile, "Seems like Gabriel isn’t in a good mood."

"Gabriel, don’t be impolite," Isabella came forward and gently patted Little Gabriel’s shoulder, "Come, say hello to Teacher Adams, a teacher for a day, is a teacher for life. Respect for teachers should never be forgotten."

But Little Gabriel paid no attention, still showing his back to everyone; he was waiting for his mom and sister, not wanting to bother with anyone else.

"This child..." Isabella’s face fell.

"It’s fine," Elsie quickly smoothed things over, "Children are like that, unpredictable, but throwing a tantrum means he’s okay, that’s good."

She glanced at Cooper, "Since Gabriel is fine, I’ll head out first, Aunt Ross, Mr. Coldson, goodbye!"

"Cooper!" Isabella nudged Cooper, "Go see her out, children can be unruly, but you, as an adult, should act maturely."

Cooper had no choice but to see Elsie out.

As they walked to the elevator, Cooper maintained a neutral expression, no intention of speaking.

Elsie felt uneasy but knew she couldn’t rush things.

At the elevator, she initiated conversation, "Mr. Coldson, no need to go any further. I know you despise my previous actions, but I don’t regret it, I merely spoke my heart’s truth. Whether you accept it or not, I have no regrets."

"I don’t despise," Cooper looking at her brought to mind his own situation, where he pitied himself, unable to speak his heart to Yolanda Greenwood.

He pulled out a smile, "Thank you for coming to see Gabriel, goodbye!"

"Goodbye!" Elsie entered the elevator, a smile curving her lips, there was hope for Cooper’s attitude towards her; truly lowering herself was a woman’s ultimate weapon.

Soon, the elevator reached the ground floor, she walked out happily, unexpectedly finding Yolanda Greenwood carrying things at the entrance, no doubt there to see Gabriel Coldson.

Elsie gritted her teeth secretly and quickly stepped forward to block her, "Yolanda Greenwood, you have the nerve to come here?"

Yolanda didn’t notice Elsie earlier and was startled when suddenly blocked, "Elsie Adams? What are you doing here?"

"Of course, I’m here to see Gabriel," Elsie said coldly, "but you, injuring Gabriel, you have the nerve to come?"

"Injuring Gabriel? What nonsense." Yolanda was uninterested in dealing with her and attempted to bypass her into the elevator.

"What? Did Aunt Ross misstate it?" Elsie blocked Yolanda again, "In the room earlier, Aunt Ross clearly said it was you who injured Gabriel, and Cooper was right beside."

Yolanda found it inexplicable, "Then what did Cooper say?"

"Cooper said you didn’t do it intentionally, what else can he say? You’re the mother of his child, Gabriel can’t do without you, he can’t afford to tear things apart with you."

Yolanda, red with anger, knew Isabella disliked her, but she hadn’t expected Cooper to think the same.

The incident with Little Gabriel was indeed her fault, and Isabella and Cooper could have vented their anger directly rather than gossiping behind her back.

She wanted nothing more but to see Little Gabriel and then leave quickly.

"You’re still heading up?" Elsie sneered, "You truly are shameless; if I were you, I’d turn around and leave."

"Move aside!" Yolanda’s face turned cold, "Little Gabriel’s injury is indeed my fault, I’m here to see Gabriel; what others say is irrelevant."

Seeing Elsie still standing firm, Yolanda stepped forward, forcibly pushing her aside, "Elsie Adams, I’m in a bad mood now, you’d better steer clear!"

"You!" Elsie stomped her feet in anger, pointing at Yolanda, "Truly shameless, remarrying yet entwined with your ex-husband, such actions are akin to cheating!"
