Chapter 414: Chapter 414: Ella senses Anan’s hostility toward Dad
Yolanda entered the hospital room and saw Little Gabriel obediently lying on the bed.
She gently called out, "Gabriel?"
Little Gabriel heard the voice and immediately tried to get up. "Mom, you’re here."
Noah, behind Yolanda, was taken aback by the words. It seemed that Yolanda and her son had already recognized each other.
"Don’t move." Yolanda stepped forward a few paces and held the little one’s shoulders, "Stay put, don’t move around."
Little Gabriel looked back with effort, wanting to see Yolanda’s face. "Mom, I’m okay. It doesn’t hurt at all, and the doctor said it’s not serious."
Yolanda’s eyes became a bit moist. The lack of pain sometimes is really bittersweet, like now, the child not feeling discomfort slightly alleviates her guilt.
She took a deep breath and then slowly began to speak, "Gabriel, don’t move around. Let me take a look at the injury."
"Okay." Little Gabriel obediently stayed put, once again emphasizing that he was really okay.
But when Yolanda lifted the blanket and clothes, seeing the little one’s back, tears instantly streamed down her face—those large patches of swelling, with traces of blood, looked shocking.
She bit her lip hard to prevent herself from crying.
"Mom?" Little Gabriel called out, "Are you crying? I’m really okay, don’t be sad."
"No... nothing’s wrong." Yolanda gently kissed the back of the child’s head, "Mom’s fine, Gabriel is so good."
Yolanda stood up.
Little Gabriel immediately became anxious, "Mom, are you leaving?"
Yolanda saw through the little one’s thoughts and immediately said, "No, mom’s not leaving. Mom will stay with you tonight, okay?"
"Really?" The little one was very excited.
"Yes." Yolanda patted Little Gabriel’s head, then turned to talk to Noah, "Brother Coldson, I’ll stay tonight to take care of Gabriel."
"This..." Noah hesitated a bit, given Isabella’s earlier attitude was somewhat frightening. He hesitated for a moment before speaking, "Yolanda, you saw that Gabriel is okay, I think his grandma and dad can take care of him, maybe you should..."
Yolanda instantly understood Noah’s meaning and lowered her head, "I really have no intentions toward Cooper Coldson, I’m just worried about the child."
"Yolanda, I know, I trust you." Noah sympathetically patted Yolanda’s arm, "Don’t take my mother’s words to heart."
At this moment, Cooper and Isabella came in from outside.
Yolanda instinctively took a step back, somewhat timidly looking at Isabella.
Isabella tried hard to pull out a smile; just now, Cooper was in such pain that she couldn’t make her son suffer anymore, but she would never accept Yolanda, never, because Yolanda was the culprit.
"Yolanda, it was Aunt’s fault earlier, Aunt apologizes to you." She slowly began, looking sincere.
Yolanda was surprised and instinctively looked at Cooper, who smiled at her.
She finally let out a sigh of relief and mustered the courage to say, "Aunt Ross, my promise to you hasn’t changed, I’m just worried about Gabriel. Tonight... can I stay with Gabriel?"
"Grandma, please agree." Little Gabriel pleaded loudly, trying to turn his head with effort.
"Alright, alright, Grandma agrees, Grandma agrees." Isabella looked at Yolanda, "If you want to stay, then stay. After all, for the child, no one can replace a mother."
"Thank you, Aunt Ross, thank you." Yolanda was very happy.
Isabella went over to check on Little Gabriel, spoke a few words to the little one, then returned.
Only Noah, Cooper, and Yolanda were left in the hospital room, and Little Gabriel had fallen asleep.
Noah began speaking first, "Now it seems you’ve already recognized each other?"
Cooper looked up at Yolanda, inevitably his gaze was a bit stirred.
"Actually, it’s nothing," Yolanda’s expression was calm, and she did not look at Cooper, "Regardless of what happened between Mr. Coldson and me before, we have no relationship now, but I can’t sever the bond with the child, so I just want to see Gabriel occasionally."
Cooper’s hands on his knees exerted a slight force as Yolanda’s indifferent attitude made his heart ache.
"Of course... of course you can." He tried to appear less concerned.
"That’s good." Yolanda finally looked at Cooper, seemingly satisfied with his cooperation, and nodded slightly.
At this moment, her phone rang.
Yolanda took out her phone and seeing the caller, her expression instantly softened a lot, "It’s Adam, he must’ve woken up."
She got up and walked to the side to answer the call.
Cooper sat in his seat, looking up at Yolanda’s back, his eyes full of pain.
"Cooper!" Noah patted his leg, speaking in a deep caring tone, "Are you okay?"
Cooper shook his head.
Yolanda finished the call and came back, speaking to Noah, "Adam woke up, and Ella is clamoring to come over, so I’m letting them come together."
"Alright." Noah said with a small pull of his mouth.
Yolanda looked at Cooper again, "I asked them to buy dinner, is there anything you’d like to eat?"
"Anything’s fine." Cooper felt completely drained, not wanting anything to eat.
Noah also expressed indifference, lacking appetite.
"Alright then, I’ll just let Adam buy something casually, adults don’t matter as much, Gabriel needs to eat something, with Ella coming he should have some appetite." Yolanda finished speaking and went to sit by the bed, staying with Little Gabriel.
About an hour later, Adam brought Little Ella along.
"Mom, what’s wrong with brother?" Little Ella let go of Adam’s hand, quickly running to the bedside, looking worriedly at Little Gabriel.
At this point, Little Gabriel was already awake. Seeing his sister, he was very happy, "Brother is fine."
"Yes, brother is fine. He can be discharged tomorrow. Have you had dinner, Ella?" Yolanda softly asked.
"No." Adam answered beside her, taking out the packed food neatly and placing it on the table, "As soon as she heard Gabriel was sick, she was anxious to come over, let’s eat together with Gabriel."
Little Gabriel seemed to finally notice another person’s presence at this moment. He sat up, looking unkindly at Adam.
"Brother," Little Ella first sensed something wrong with her brother, "That’s my dad. He’s nice. He bought lots of goodies for us to eat together."
Helping Adam, Yolanda immediately said upon hearing, "Yes, you two eat something. Gabriel needs to eat properly for the illness to get better quickly."
"I don’t want to eat!" Little Gabriel suddenly spoke, then unexpectedly lay back down.
"Hmm?" Yolanda didn’t understand and returned to the bedside, feeling the little one was upset, "What’s wrong, Gabriel? Aren’t you happy your sister is here?"
Just then, Little Ella had sensitively noticed something. She ran over to Adam’s side, sticking tightly to him with protective intent, but her eyes locked onto her brother without blinking.
Little Gabriel continued to throw a tantrum, "I won’t eat, make him leave!"
