Chapter 368: Chapter 368: An’an’s Father’s Surname is Coldson, Named Cooper Coldson

Elsie Adams stood to the side, her eyes fixed unblinkingly on Yolanda Greenwood and the reactions of the two children.

Little Ella happily introduced, "Mom, this is my brother."

Little Gabriel’s eyes remained tightly locked on Yolanda, his gaze filled with complex emotions that were hard to decipher.

But Elsie still caught a flicker of longing within—perhaps... Little Gabriel recognized the woman in front of him.

Yet Yolanda... her attention was clearly focused entirely on Little Ella. She cautiously stepped forward. "Gabriel, may I go over and check on Ella?"

Everyone was slightly tense, silently awaiting Little Gabriel’s outburst.

But as Yolanda walked closer step by step, Little Gabriel surprisingly didn’t erupt in anger. He even moved aside willingly, though his eyes never stopped intently watching Yolanda.

A teacher murmured softly, "Strange, Gabriel seems like he recognizes Miss Greenwood?"

"How could it be possible?" Elsie shot the person a sharp glare.

Soon, Yolanda reached Little Ella, immediately inspecting her wound.

It was a cut, about two fingers long. Though not deep, the bleeding hadn’t stopped yet, and blood continued to flow.

It appeared rather alarming.

Tears streamed down Yolanda’s face as her heart ached. Ever since discovering Little Ella’s condition, she had been extremely cautious, ensuring Little Ella never got hurt.

"It doesn’t hurt, Mom. It doesn’t hurt," Little Ella comforted Yolanda, helping her wipe away the tears.

Throughout, Little Gabriel stood quietly nearby, his gaze alternating between Yolanda and Little Ella, remaining both obedient and composed.

Yolanda, knowing the school nurse had arrived, gathered Little Ella into her arms. She glanced down at Little Gabriel and said, "Gabriel, I’m going to take Ella to have her wound treated. Thank you for protecting her earlier."

Little Gabriel’s expression visibly changed.

Yolanda gently patted Little Gabriel’s head before carrying Little Ella away.

On Yolanda’s shoulder, Little Ella waved to Little Gabriel. "Brother, come along!"

Unexpectedly, Little Gabriel followed closely behind. He didn’t lose his temper anymore but instead watched anxiously as the doctor treated Little Ella’s wound, appearing particularly well-behaved and concerned.

After everything was taken care of, Yolanda asked Little Ella, "Ella, how about going home with Mommy? Let’s take the day off, okay?"

"No." Little Ella hid behind Little Gabriel, "If I go home, there will be nobody to play with Brother."

Little Gabriel mirrored her with a pleading look, silently appealing to Yolanda.

Helpless, Yolanda could only repeatedly remind several teachers to take extra care of Little Ella, ensuring her wound wasn’t exposed to water or irritated.

"I’ll watch over my sister," Little Gabriel suddenly spoke up.

Everyone was stunned. They had known Little Gabriel for quite some time but had never heard him say such a long sentence, nor had he voluntarily offered to care for anyone before.

Sadie Connor nodded enthusiastically. "It seems Gabriel really likes Ella!"

Yolanda glanced at Little Gabriel and crouched down in front of him. "Then I’ll leave Ella to you, Gabriel."

As they walked out, Sadie repeatedly apologized to Yolanda, "This incident was an oversight on our part at the kindergarten. I truly apologize."

"It’s alright; these things happen. Ella is different from other children, so I know it’s been extra demanding on you all." Yolanda forced a smile, holding back her anguish when she remembered Ella’s injury.

"There’s no such thing as ’different’; every child is a treasure to their parents." Sadie gently patted Yolanda’s shoulder. "Though you certainly have it harder than most parents."

"Ella has also grown more considerate than other children. Anyway, that’s it for today. I’ll head out now." Yolanda prepared to leave.

"Wait a moment." Unexpectedly, Elsie chased after her at that moment. Nodding to Sadie, she took the initiative to say, "Principal, I’d like to have a chat with Miss Greenwood."

"Alright, you two talk. I’ll go handle other matters." Sadie quickly left.

"Miss Greenwood, if you’re available, there’s a coffee shop nearby. How about we grab a drink?" Elsie said with a smile, a suspicion lingering in her mind that she wanted to confirm further.

"Of course," Yolanda readily agreed. She, too, hoped to communicate more with Elsie, who might take extra care of Ella.

At the café, the two ordered their drinks and settled down. Elsie began with an apology.

"About what happened today, I’m truly sorry. As Ella’s teacher, I cannot avoid the blame."

"No need to say that, Teacher Adams. As her mother, I understand this age is particularly challenging to manage. Children don’t understand danger, and accidents are bound to happen. You kindergarten teachers have a tough job."

Elsie pulled at the corners of her mouth. "That’s true. At this age, even keeping one child safe is difficult, let alone at a kindergarten..."

She looked at Yolanda and tentatively asked, "Miss Greenwood, have you considered leaving Ella at home with a private tutor instead?"

"Actually, Ella had always been at home before," Yolanda said with a strained smile. "But, Teacher Adams, you must have noticed—Ella loves making friends. I want her to experience a normal life."

"Miss Greenwood, forgive me if I’m being blunt," Elsie’s tone grew heavier, "while a normal life is important, for Ella, growing up safely and healthily is even more important."

"Of course." Yolanda let out a bitter laugh. "But I have to try. Otherwise, I fear she might blame me when she’s older."

"Trying is fine." Elsie fell silent for a moment, then asked, "By the way, I heard that someone recommended this kindergarten to you. Is that correct?"

Yolanda nodded. "Yes."

Elsie pressed on, curious, "Who was it? As far as I know, very few people are aware of this place. Maybe we even know them."

"You probably don’t know them; it was my husband. He’s been overseas." Yolanda replied with a smile.

"Your husband?" Elsie’s eyes widened in shock. "Miss Greenwood, you’re married?"

Yolanda froze for a moment, clearly puzzled by Elsie’s reaction. She had children; wasn’t it normal to be married?

"Oh, nothing, it’s just that you’ve always brought Ella here alone, so I assumed..." Elsie awkwardly smiled, "Seems I was overthinking."

"Her dad is quite busy with work; he’ll come back in a while," Yolanda said casually.

"By the way, Ella and Gabriel seem to get along really well," Elsie probed, watching Yolanda closely, "and the two of them look quite alike—both so beautiful."

"Do they?" Yolanda recalled the wild, beast-like little boy and felt an inexplicable stir in her heart. She smiled lightly. "I’m grateful Ella has found such a good friend."

Elsie furrowed her brows slightly before continuing, "Actually, this kindergarten was custom-built by Gabriel’s father..."

"Really?" Yolanda was surprised. "It seems his father is quite thoughtful and responsible."

"His surname is Coldson!" Elsie added, her gaze fixed unwaveringly on Yolanda, carefully observing her reaction. "His name is Cooper Coldson!"
