Chapter 367: Chapter 367: Brother, This is Mom

Yolanda Greenwood dropped Little Ella off at kindergarten and then headed to the exhibition site again. After returning home yesterday, she had some new ideas.

She treated this exhibition as a pivotal battle to establish herself in Gray City, pouring her heart and soul into it.

Over at Baruy, it was still Sunny Skies who received Yolanda Greenwood. "Miss Greenwood, our Director Taylor was talking about you yesterday and is adamant about meeting you in person."

"Great," Yolanda beamed, "I’ve always wanted to meet Director Taylor. Being able to showcase at this event is an honor for Heart Island Design."

"Don’t say that, Miss Greenwood. Our director genuinely loves your work and says your style resembles that of her idol." Sunny Skies said with a smile, "Once we finish up later, can I take you to meet her?"

"Of course." Yolanda agreed enthusiastically.

The two worked back and forth for half a day before things finally settled down.

"Let’s go, Miss Greenwood, I’ll take you to see our director now," Sunny Skies said proactively.

"Alright." Yolanda gathered her belongings. Just as she was about to leave with Sunny, her phone rang—it was Elsie Adams calling.

Not daring to delay, she quickly excused herself to answer the call nearby. "Hello, Teacher Adams? This is Yolanda Greenwood. Is this about Ella..."

Elsie Adams interrupted her urgently, "Miss Greenwood, you need to come over quickly. Ella’s hurt."

"What?" Yolanda’s face turned pale instantly. "Alright, I’m coming immediately."

She hung up the phone and hurried to inform Sunny Skies. "I’m so sorry, my daughter’s had an incident, and I need to rush to the kindergarten. I can’t..."

"No problem at all, Miss Greenwood. Please go quickly; our director will understand," Sunny Skies responded, seeing her frantic state and not daring to hold her back.

"I deeply apologize." Yolanda quickly ran out to catch a taxi.

The kindergarten was in utter chaos.

Little Ella’s hand was cut and bleeding uncontrollably. She sat on a bench, not crying, but looking up at the little boy standing guard in front of her.

Little Gabriel, like a small ferocious beast, bared his teeth and glared at everyone, shielding Little Ella behind him. He wouldn’t allow anyone nearby—not Elsie Adams, not the school nurse.

He remembered his dad’s words: when there’s blood, it’s serious. He had to protect his sister and couldn’t let anyone harm her again.

"Brother, I’m okay," Little Ella called out weakly.

Little Gabriel remained unresponsive, continuing to stand protectively in front of his sister.

"What should we do?" Two other teachers were sweating profusely. "Gabriel is blocking everyone; should we call Mr. Coldson?"

"No! Don’t call Mr. Coldson!" Elsie Adams said firmly. "Mr. Coldson is extremely busy, and besides, the person injured isn’t Gabriel. Ella’s mom is on her way."

One of the teachers sighed. "Judging by this, even when Ella’s mom arrives, it might not solve the issue."

Though Elsie Adams was also a teacher, they all knew her position was different—she was Gabriel’s doctor and Mr. Coldson’s personally designated class lead. The rest of them were mere assistants to her.

Elsie thought for a moment before saying again, "Go get the principal."

Sadie Connor soon appeared: "What’s going on? I heard it was a knife injury? How could such a dangerous item be in the classroom?"

By now, she was drenched in sweat, not daring to imagine how she would face the parents if something worse had happened.

"Principal, this was our oversight," Elsie Adams admitted promptly. "We don’t know which child brought it from home. From now on, we’ll definitely warn parents repeatedly to be cautious and not let children bring items like this to the kindergarten."

Hearing it was something brought by a child, Sadie Connor realized it was indeed an accident. "What’s the situation now?"

"Gabriel is still preventing anyone from approaching, and I see that Ella’s wound is still bleeding," Elsie Adams said anxiously.

"Gabriel is blocking people?" Sadie Connor didn’t quite understand. "What does this have to do with Gabriel?"

One teacher chimed in, "Gabriel and Ella are close friends."

Sadie Connor looked slightly surprised, then stepped forward quietly, lowering her voice as she said, "Gabriel, I’m Grandma Principal. Do you still remember me?"

Little Gabriel showed little reaction, his face still full of vigilance.

"Gabriel, Ella is hurt and needs treatment. Can Grandma Principal come closer?" Sadie Connor tentatively took a step forward.

"Ahhh!" Little Gabriel screamed twice, refusing to let Sadie Connor get closer.

Someone shouted, "Ella’s mom is here—Ella’s mom is here!"

Yolanda Greenwood rushed in, drenched in sweat, her face pale, looking for Little Ella. Sadie Connor stopped her.

"Designer Greenwood, please calm down. The child just has a small cut. It’s just that..." She seemed troubled.

Elsie Adams stepped forward, her heart in her throat, and said, "Yolanda, did you know Ella has a very close friend at the kindergarten?"

Yolanda nodded, tears already streaming. "I know, I know."

Elsie tried probing further, "His name is Gabriel—the child’s name is Gabriel."

"Oh." Yolanda didn’t seem to react to the name. She urgently asked, "Where is the child now?"

"Inside," Sadie Connor hesitated. "Designer Greenwood, Gabriel has autism. Right now..."

Elsie Adams suddenly interrupted again, saying, "The child’s full name is Gabriel Coldson."

She stared intently at Yolanda Greenwood, but Yolanda still showed no reaction.

Sadie Connor continued, "Gabriel sees Ella as his only friend. He’s not letting anyone near Ella right now, but don’t worry—he would never hurt her."

She turned to Elsie Adams. "Have you contacted Mr. Coldson yet?"

"Principal, the injured person isn’t Gabriel. Mr. Coldson is so busy—" Elsie Adams began.

Yolanda interrupted her, "Where is the child? Let me try."

"Alright." Sadie Connor glanced at Elsie Adams. "If it doesn’t work, contact Mr. Coldson immediately. We can’t sacrifice one child to protect another."

She looked unhappily at Elsie Adams. "I know you’re Gabriel’s doctor and care more about his well-being, but in this kindergarten, all children are equal."

"I understand, Principal." Elsie Adams apologized, forcing a smile.

Yolanda Greenwood quickly came face-to-face with Little Gabriel and Little Ella.

Her gaze hesitated briefly when she saw Little Gabriel but quickly moved to Little Ella.

"Ella!" She choked out, her voice breaking.

"Mom, I’m okay. It doesn’t hurt at all," Little Ella said cheerily.

Then, she turned to Little Gabriel. "Brother, this is Mom—Mom!"
