Chapter 335: Chapter 335: After Attending the Wedding, Attending a Funeral

In the blink of an eye, it was the wedding day of Cooper and Melissa Greenwood.

Early summer in Gray City should have been vibrant and beautiful, yet on this day, a fine drizzle fell. The air was stifling, making everyone feel uncomfortable.

Noah Coldson had not returned from Country M, and Dr. Sterling remained at the base with May.

Yolanda Greenwood and Lola Gold went to the wedding venue, prepared to witness Melissa Greenwood’s ultimate downfall.

"Dr. Sterling is truly remarkable," Lola marveled along the way, "May actually decided not to come."

Initially, May insisted on attending the wedding. She wanted to confront Melissa Greenwood and watch her wicked mother fall.

Yet, after going to the base with Dr. Sterling, the little girl surprisingly changed her mind.

Yolanda chuckled lightly, "It’s better she doesn’t come. After all, she’s still Melissa Greenwood’s daughter. Some scenes are best left unseen."

"True." Lola sighed softly, "But is there anything harder to bear than witnessing your own mother murder your father?"

Yolanda remained silent for a long while before finally speaking in a hushed tone, "Let’s just hope Dr. Sterling can truly save her."

Both of them were dressed entirely in black today. Yolanda wore a sleek black dress that revealed her slender, straight legs, looking intelligent and elegant. Lola, on the other hand, was in a sharp black suit, exuding a crisp and bold aura.

Wearing outfits like these to a wedding naturally drew everyone’s attention the moment they appeared.

"What are you doing here?" It was Cooper Coldson—unexpectedly, they ran into him. His expression was grim. "I don’t recall sending you an invitation."

"Oh, really? But we received an invitation," Lola shrugged nonchalantly. They were already here—was Cooper really going to drive them away?

To their surprise, Cooper’s expression turned icy indeed, and he seemed intent on making them leave. Narrowing his eyes, he stared coldly at Yolanda. "I don’t care where you got the invitation from, leave now."

Yolanda’s grip around Lola’s hand instinctively tightened. "Cooper, is this really necessary? We’re only here because we want to..."

She couldn’t bring herself to finish. Indeed, they hadn’t come to witness happiness but to expose the truth.

Cooper appeared to have guessed what she was withholding and looked away, replying curtly, "There’s no need for that."

"Lola, Yolanda, you’re here!" Just then, Christopher Coldson approached them. He took notice of their attire and was equally surprised before quickly recovering, "Cooper, I was the one who sent them the invitation. After all, we all know each other..."

He frantically gestured to Yolanda and Lola, signaling them with his eyes. Then, pulling Cooper aside, he added, "Even if divorced, we’re still friends. There’s no justification for driving anyone out."

Cooper’s face remained stern. He said no more, but when he looked back, Yolanda and Lola were already gone.

Meanwhile, in the bride’s makeup room, Melissa Greenwood dressed up more extravagantly than ever before.

Her close friends Athena White and Wendy Bennett were there, fawning over her with flattery.

"Melissa, you’re so lucky! You’re finally marrying Cooper and becoming Mrs. Coldson. Congratulations, congratulations!"

"This wedding is truly grand, far more extravagant than the previous two. You can tell Cooper is absolutely set on you."

Melissa basked contentedly in their praises. "Of course. I’ve always said Cooper loves only me."

"Melissa, I heard Yolanda that wretched woman bore Cooper a son. He’s being raised at the old mansion now?" Athena gossiped curiously.

"And so what?" Melissa dismissed it indifferently. "Cooper and I will soon have our own child. Her cursed brat is only fit to live in the old mansion for life."

"True enough. With his mother gone, the boy won’t cause much trouble," Wendy chimed in quickly. "In the future, Melissa will have full control over the Coldson Family."

The three of them laughed happily together.

Before long, the auspicious hour was approaching. Having learned lessons from the prior incidents, Melissa decided to head out early and wait outside the venue.

"We’ll go ahead first," Athena and Wendy said, leaving ahead of her.

Melissa did a last-minute check of her appearance, confident she would outshine everyone today. Only then did she open the door and step out.

As soon as she walked out, she saw Yolanda Greenwood and Lola Gold.

"Stop right there!" Melissa called out to them. "What are you doing here?"

Yolanda and Lola turned, both smirking faintly. "We’re here to attend the wedding, of course."

"Attend the wedding?" Melissa felt an inexplicable unease. "Were you even invited?"

"What’s the matter, Melissa Greenwood? Are you so insecure?" Lola sneered. "Afraid our Yolanda might steal your groom?"

Melissa crossed her arms. "Coming dressed like that—is that your idea of attending a wedding? Or trying to disgust people?"

"We’re attending your wedding and then heading to a funeral afterward," Lola retorted unapologetically. "Wearing black—you’ll just have to deal with it. The living make way for the dead."

"You!" Melissa knew she couldn’t outargue Lola. She was well aware they had come purely to vex her.

Tilting her chin upward, she said dismissively, "Fine. Today is my happiest day—I won’t waste time on your petty, sordid schemes."

Her gaze shifted to Yolanda. "I trust that, for May’s sake, Yolanda won’t cross the line."

"Lola, let’s go." Yolanda tugged Lola along and turned to leave.

Melissa still felt something was amiss. Even if they were here for the wedding, why had they come to this area instead? Shouldn’t they be at the venue?

She suddenly began to worry.

Yet the auspicious hour had already arrived, and someone came over to summon her. "Bride, are you ready? Time to make your entrance."

Melissa had no choice but to suppress her uneasiness after all—May was still in her grasp, so Yolanda likely wouldn’t act recklessly.

She quickly headed toward the entrance of the venue, though her sense of dread continued to grow.

Jaxon Greenwood was absent today, so the person escorting Melissa down the aisle was an elder from the Greenwood Family. Spotting her approach, he eagerly walked up to her. "Melissa, let’s go—it’s time!"

Soon, the familiar wedding march resounded, and Melissa instantly felt her eyes welling up with tears.

She had waited so long for this day. Thankfully, everything had gone as she’d wished.

The doors to the venue opened, and countless cameras turned toward her in unison. Thunderous applause filled the air, while colorful ribbons and glitter created a dream-like atmosphere.

Melissa truly felt like she was in a dream. Beneath her white veil, she could see everyone’s envious gaze.

Today, she was undeniably the star—an existence brighter than all others.

Melissa quickly composed herself and directed her gaze toward the center stage, where the groom, Cooper Coldson, stood waiting.

At that moment, Cooper appeared expressionless—or wait, was there a faint smile playing on his lips? His eyes were fixed in her direction.

Melissa’s heart surged with excitement. Perfect. Starting today, everything from her past would be completely over. She was finally stepping into her new life.

The new life as Mrs. Coldson!
