Chapter 308: Chapter 308: Cooper Coldson Proposes to Meet Yolanda Greenwood Alone

Yolanda felt her head buzz violently, as if a blinding white light flashed before her eyes. For a moment, she seemed unable to see anything clearly.

A moment later, she steadied herself and asked in complete confusion, "Taken away? What does that mean?"

She did not realize that when she spoke, her voice had become hoarse and was trembling slightly.

"Yolanda, don’t panic," Lola tried to comfort her. "Cooper is the child’s father. He wouldn’t harm the child. Maybe... he just wants to take the child back to spend some time together and will return soon."

Yolanda immediately latched onto a critical piece of information. She grabbed Lola’s hand forcefully. "How many days? How many days has Cooper taken the child away?"

Lola’s face was full of worry. She turned to look at the others, completely unsure of how to respond.

"No, he can’t take my child. That’s my child." Almost instantly, Yolanda lost all rationality. She sat up abruptly and was about to get out of bed.

Lola was terrified and immediately pressed down on her shoulders. "Yolanda, stay lying down. Don’t be anxious. We’ll find a way to bring the child back. Don’t panic."

"No, that’s my child. No one is allowed to take them!" But Yolanda seemed completely deaf to Lola’s words, her entire body starting to struggle violently.

Lola was having difficulty holding her down. "Yolanda, listen to me! Don’t move – you’ll tear open the wound!"

At this moment, Yolanda had only one thought in her mind: she had to find Cooper and retrieve her child.

Ivy Hall saw the situation spiral out of control and immediately pushed Noah. "Go hold her down. I’ll call a nurse to give her a sedative."

"Alright." Noah snapped out of it, stepped forward, and helped Lola restrain Yolanda’s body. He didn’t dare use too much force and spoke gently to soothe her. "Yolanda, stop it. I promise I’ll get the child back. Please don’t struggle."

Soon, blood began to seep through Yolanda’s hospital gown, clearly indicating that her wound had reopened.

Fortunately, Ivy Hall quickly returned with a nurse, who immediately administered a sedative. Yolanda stopped struggling and quickly fell asleep.

The group heaved a sigh of relief, their tension momentarily easing. Lola’s eyes turned red with distress.

"What do we do?" She was utterly helpless. "Yolanda will surely insist on finding the child again when she wakes up. What do we do?"

Noah couldn’t bear it anymore. "I’ll call that bastard right now."

Adam Sterling nodded and reminded Noah, "Cooper...likely cares deeply about Yolanda. Tell him what just happened—he might reconsider."

"Alright." Noah nodded once and strode away.

Ivy Hall started tending to Yolanda’s wounds while Adam prepared to leave. Noticing Lola still seated by the bedside, he pulled her up.

"Come on, let’s go outside for some fresh air."

"No, I want to stay with Yolanda. I want to stay with her," Lola cried uncontrollably.

"She’s had a sedative—she’ll likely sleep for a long while. Staying here won’t help," Adam insisted, dragging her out. "It’ll only make you feel worse."

Out in the hallway, Lola sat on a bench, her tears streaming down again. "Why is Yolanda’s life so miserable? She fought so hard to safely give birth, and then Cooper, that bastard, shows up to cause trouble. It’s just too cruel."

Adam didn’t join in her condemnation of Cooper but instead sighed and said, "Everything is fate."

"Why must our fate be so bitter?" Lola retorted angrily, glaring at him.

Adam chuckled humorlessly and shook his head. "Trust me, you and Yolanda alike—your pain is only temporary."

"Nonsense," Lola muttered, refusing to believe a single word. She sat there silently, brooding.

Meanwhile, at the end of the hallway, Noah managed to get through to Cooper on the phone. At first, he was so furious he didn’t even know how to begin.

Cooper waited for a moment, confirming the call was still connected, and spoke in an indifferent tone. "Is it about the child again? Then stop wasting your breath."

"She woke up," Noah said sharply.

"Hm?" Cooper didn’t hang up this time.

Noah continued, "Yolanda woke up. She knows you’ve taken the child. Just now, she was crying and screaming to go get the child back. Dr. Hall gave her a sedative before she finally fell asleep."

The other end of the line fell silent.

Hurriedly, Noah pressed on. "You have no idea how violently she struggled just now, even tearing her wound open. The few of us couldn’t hold her down. Cooper, the child means everything to her."

He almost pleaded, his voice trembling with desperation. "Cooper, big brother has never begged anyone for anything in his life, but this time, I’m begging you—please give the child back to Yolanda. Otherwise, she won’t survive this."

The line remained silent, showing Cooper’s inner conflict.

"Cooper, Yolanda is truly pitiful. If nothing else, pity her, please. Give the child back to her, okay?"

"I want to see her." Cooper finally spoke.

"See her?" Noah frowned instinctively. "Why? What do you want to do?"

Cooper didn’t answer his questions but simply repeated, "I want to see her. Otherwise, the matter of returning the child is non-negotiable."

Noah wanted to say more, but the call had already ended.

He returned to the doorway of Yolanda’s hospital room and found Lola and Adam still waiting there.

"How’d it go? Did that bastard still refuse to send the child back?" Lola asked anxiously.

Noah nodded. "Cooper said...he wants to see Yolanda."

"See Yolanda?" Lola immediately rejected the idea. "No way. Yolanda reacts strongly just hearing his name—if they meet..."

She couldn’t even bear to imagine.

Noah turned to Adam, who, as a psychologist, had witnessed Yolanda’s meltdown. Adam’s insight might help them make a more informed decision.

"Lola is right. It’s not wise to have them meet recklessly right now," Adam agreed. "Tomorrow, when Yolanda feels better, we can consult her opinion."

Both of them nodded. "Okay. We’ll wait until tomorrow when Yolanda wakes up."

But much to their surprise, Yolanda woke up in the middle of the night, once again demanding to find the child. The newly sutured wound tore open once more.

The on-call nurse hurriedly administered another sedative, and Yolanda fell back asleep.

Now, the three of them couldn’t sleep at all.

"What do we do?" Lola winced, feeling overwhelmed. "It’s like Yolanda is completely consumed by obsession. We can’t even have a proper conversation with her."

Noah nodded solemnly. "Yes, this kind of chaos isn’t sustainable."

He turned to Adam. "It’s better to let Cooper come. At least when he’s here, Yolanda won’t try to leave..."

He sighed deeply. "I just don’t know what Cooper plans to do when he meets her."

"Right now, it’s our only option," Adam said, narrowing his eyes slightly. "I trust Cooper won’t deliberately hurt her."
