Chapter 302: Chapter 302: Cooper Coldson’s People Took the Child Away

After Noah Coldson and Cooper Coldson left, Lola Gold and Adam Sterling stayed at the hospital all the time.

In just two or three days, the two of them witnessed numerous joys and sorrows in the maternity ward.

Today was Old Master Coldson’s funeral, and Yolanda Greenwood finally moved out of the intensive care unit. Each day, she gradually stayed awake longer.

Lola Gold and Adam Sterling spent most of their time in the hallway, afraid of disturbing Yolanda’s rest.

That day, a woman encountered childbirth complications. Her husband chose to save the baby, but the woman died on the operating table.

The heart-wrenching cries of the woman’s parents echoed through the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Lola Gold instantly felt nauseous and threw up in the restroom for quite a while. When she came out, her face was completely pale.

"Are you okay?" Adam Sterling handed her a bottle of hawthorn juice, as Lola Gold had recently taken a liking to sour things.

"I’m fine." Lola Gold shook her head, took the hawthorn juice, and sipped it slowly. "I just feel like their crying keeps lingering in my ears. It’s piercing, and my heart’s racing."

"Actually, at private hospitals, cases like this are relatively rare." Adam Sterling sighed softly. "Since the cost of giving birth here is high, the patients here tend to be from wealthy families..."

He looked at Lola Gold with resignation. "Having money already solves a big part of life’s problems for them."

Lola Gold nodded in agreement. "True, poverty makes everything worse in a marriage. Having children might just compound their hardships further."

"These are problems you don’t need to think about." Adam Sterling suddenly said, "At least, not right now."

Lola Gold snorted. "When has your big sister ever worried about money?"

Adam Sterling sensed she was intentionally dodging the topic and decided to ask her directly, "What exactly are you planning to do?"

"What?" Lola Gold pretended not to understand.

Adam Sterling gave a helpless look. "The one in your belly, what’s your plan?"

"In my belly?" Lola Gold looked exasperated. "I have no idea what you’re talking about. There’s nothing in my belly, so nothing to plan."

"..." Adam Sterling understood; Lola Gold was planning to terminate the pregnancy.

He thought for a moment before calmly saying, "Alright. Just make sure you’ve thought it through and won’t regret it."

Just then, the alarm in the hospital room rang. The two of them immediately stood and went inside to find Yolanda awake.

"Yolanda? How are you?" Lola Gold stepped forward with reddened eyes. "Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"

Yolanda Greenwood shook her head lightly. She still couldn’t make any big movements. Slowly, she asked, "The babies... how are the babies?"

"They’re doing great!" Lola Gold’s eyes lit up. "Dr. Hall said that in a few days, once you’re able to move around, you’ll be able to go see them."

Yolanda tugged the corners of her mouth into a weak smile. Then tears began streaming silently down her face.

In her heart, Yolanda Greenwood whispered, "Grandpa, did you hear? Both babies are doing well. In a few days, I’ll be able to see them."

The two people beside her saw her crying and realized she’d undoubtedly thought of Old Master Coldson.

Lola Gold quickly took out her phone. "Yolanda, look, I had Dr. Hall take this photo. Look how small and adorable they are."

Yolanda tried hard to open her eyes wider, staring at the screen with the two tiny figures. She managed a faint smile.

"Yolanda, you haven’t named them yet, have you?" Adam Sterling reminded from the side. "Use these next few days to think of names."

"Yes, you have to choose particularly beautiful names." Lola Gold mused aloud. "We’ll help you think of some."

"Okay." Yolanda’s voice was incredibly faint; she still didn’t have much strength.

At that moment, Ivy Hall entered and gave Yolanda a basic check-up. She smiled and said, "Yolanda, you’re recovering extremely well. I believe in three to five days, you’ll be able to see those two little ones."

Her tone grew exaggerated. "Oh my, you wouldn’t believe how adorable they are."

"Thank you, Dr. Hall." Yolanda Greenwood nodded slightly in thanks.

"Alright, get some proper rest. You two shouldn’t be lingering here either." Ivy Hall gestured for Lola Gold and Adam Sterling to leave, so as not to disturb Yolanda’s recovery.

The two prepared to leave.

"Wait," Yolanda suddenly called out to them. "I want to check my phone."

For some reason, she’d just dreamt of her grandfather, and he’d continuously mentioned her phone.

"Alright, but just for a moment." Lola Gold handed her the phone.

Yolanda quickly spotted the text message sent three days ago, at noon—the very day her grandfather had passed.

[Yolanda, forgive Grandpa for this one last selfish action!]

Tears started pouring from Yolanda Greenwood’s eyes like raindrops.

Lola Gold and Adam Sterling exchanged glances and understood. They took Yolanda’s phone and quietly left the room.

Outside the hospital room, Ivy Hall gave them additional instructions before preparing to leave.

"Dr. Hall, something’s wrong," a nurse suddenly rushed forward anxiously.

Ivy Hall recognized her as a nurse from the nursery. "What happened?"

The nurse glanced at Lola Gold and Adam Sterling.

Lola Gold recognized her too. Though the nurse wore a mask, she must have been the one caring for Yolanda’s twin babies.

She grabbed Adam Sterling’s arm nervously, staring at the nurse.

"Dr. Hall, just now... Assistant Reyes came." The young nurse swallowed nervously. "He brought a portable incubator and took the boy, saying it was Mr. Coldson’s order."

Lola Gold’s legs gave out, and she almost collapsed to the ground.

Adam Sterling steadied Lola Gold with one arm while urgently grabbing the nurse’s shoulder with the other. "Assistant Reyes—you mean Richard Reyes?"

The young nurse nodded.

Adam Sterling turned to Ivy Hall. "Was it Cooper Coldson who had someone take Yolanda’s son?"

Ivy Hall let out a heavy sigh. "That’s also Cooper Coldson’s child, so we have no right to stop him."

"What do we do?" Lola Gold sobbed as she asked Adam Sterling. "What do we do? If Yolanda finds out, she definitely won’t be able to handle the shock. What do we do? Can we still catch up with them if we go now?"

Adam Sterling shook his head. "It’s definitely too late."

"Lola, don’t panic. I’ll call Noah Coldson right now," Adam Sterling said, knowing that at this moment, only Noah Coldson could retrieve the child.

He then warned Lola Gold, "For now, don’t let Yolanda find out. Once we get the child back, everything will be fine."

Ivy Hall also tried to comfort them. "Don’t worry, if Cooper Coldson took the baby, he won’t harm the child. So don’t fret."

"Call him, call your brother immediately," Lola Gold pleaded, terrified of imagining how Yolanda would react.

"Alright." Adam Sterling stepped aside and immediately dialed Noah Coldson’s number.

It seemed the funeral was still ongoing, as Noah Coldson’s phone didn’t connect initially.

Adam Sterling kept calling, dialing for the fifth time, when someone finally answered.

"What happened?" Noah Coldson’s urgent voice came through. "Did something happen to Yolanda or the babies?"

On the other end, the background noise was chaotic, clearly filled with people.

Adam Sterling wasted no time. "Noah, are you with Cooper Coldson?"

Noah Coldson nodded but then glanced backward, landing his gaze on Cooper Coldson. His chest tightened, a sense of foreboding dawning on him.

Sure enough, Adam Sterling continued on the phone, "Noah, listen to me. Cooper’s people have taken one of the babies. Yolanda doesn’t know yet—please, you need to figure something out..."

Before Adam Sterling could finish speaking, the call was abruptly disconnected.
