Chapter 301: Chapter 301: Protect the Great or Protect the Small

Yolanda has already been transferred to the emergency room, and the situation looks critical.

Noah was anxiously waiting at the hospital but hadn’t seen Cooper anywhere.

Suddenly, the emergency room door burst open. Ivy Hall hurried out. "What’s going on? Cooper isn’t here yet?"

"Probably on the way." Noah asked worriedly, "How’s Yolanda? And the baby?"

"The patient is unconscious, suffering severe hemorrhaging." Ivy Hall’s expression was grave. "The family must sign immediately. Otherwise, if anything goes wrong, no one can be held responsible."

"I’ll sign, Dr. Hall, I’ll sign." Noah pleaded, looking at Ivy Hall. "Even if Yolanda and Cooper aren’t divorced, I’m still family. Can I sign the papers?"

"No, you can’t." Ivy Hall shook her head. "In situations like this, the husband has the most authority. The husband must sign."

"Then wait a moment." Noah quickly tried Cooper’s phone again, but it still wouldn’t connect.

He was at his wit’s end. "Damn it! What’s wrong with that guy?"

"Dr. Hall, please make an exception." Noah pleaded in a tone he had never used before, his eyes slightly red, on the verge of tears.

Ivy Hall had longstanding ties with the Coldson Family. She had even held Noah as a baby. Seeing him like this, she couldn’t help but feel deeply sympathetic.

"Let’s wait five more minutes. If he’s still not here in five..."

Before she could finish her sentence, sounds echoed from the end of the hallway. Both turned to look and saw that Cooper had arrived.

Cooper’s gait was obviously off; he staggered forward, his head stained with blood, looking utterly disheveled and unlike his usual self.

"Cooper?" Noah speculated that Cooper might have been in a car accident on his way over. "Are you okay?"

Cooper shook his head, his eyes dark and intense as he looked at Ivy Hall.

Ivy Hall snapped out of her daze and quickly brought over the paperwork, speaking firmly in a professional tone, "Are you the patient’s husband?"

Cooper nodded.

"The patient is experiencing severe hemorrhaging and is still unconscious. The hospital decision is to proceed with a cesarean section, but..." Ivy Hall let out a long sigh. "Her condition is extremely unstable; even with the cesarean, there’s a risk of massive blood loss. So..."

She struggled to continue, choking up several times. She knew how much Yolanda had struggled during this pregnancy, but at this point, there was no choice left.

"Cooper, if... I mean, if an emergency arises, should we prioritize the mother or the baby?" Ivy Hall looked at Cooper sympathetically.

Cooper, who had just crashed recklessly on the road and ended up injured, was dazed, and he couldn’t quite grasp Ivy Hall’s words.

"Cooper, do you choose to save the mother or the baby?" Ivy Hall asked again.

Cooper frowned in confusion. "I don’t understand what you’re saying. She’s just bleeding a little! What do you mean, save the mother or the baby?"

He roared at Ivy Hall, "Neither the mother nor the baby can have anything happen to them!"

"If both can be saved, of course, that’s the best outcome." Ivy Hall patiently explained to Cooper. "But given the current situation, we need to decide immediately, Cooper. Don’t hesitate; you must pick one now."

"Save the mother!" Noah was overwhelmed with anxiety, terrified they’d miss the best opportunity for treatment. He grabbed Cooper’s arm and repeated, "Cooper, save the mother!"

"That’s not your child. Of course, it’s easy for you to say!" Cooper stared coldly at Noah.

"Cooper, how can you say that? Regardless of whose child it is, those babies are Yolanda’s beloved ones. How could I not care?" Noah said angrily. "But right now, time is life! If you keep hesitating, who knows what will happen?"

Cooper’s expression grew more pained. He couldn’t fathom how things had come to this.

If the baby doesn’t survive, then their last link with Yolanda will be gone too. Would that mean they’re truly finished?

"Cooper, there’s no time to keep hesitating!" Ivy Hall urged him urgently. "Make the decision now!"

Both Cooper and Noah shouted at the same time, "Save the mother!"

Ivy Hall let out a sigh of relief, believing that Yolanda hadn’t chosen the wrong person to love. She turned and went into the emergency room.

Cooper slumped against the wall, his strength completely drained. He stared blankly at the floor, muttering to himself, "How did it come to this? How could it come to this? I never thought it would be this way..."

Noah understood Cooper’s self-blame all too well, but he also knew no one could have anticipated this outcome.

It couldn’t entirely be Cooper’s fault. Even Old Master Coldson bore some responsibility. They had simply tried to fight for that marriage one last time, not realizing it would put Yolanda in danger.

"Cooper," Noah couldn’t stand to see this anymore. He patted Cooper on the shoulder, "Go get your head injury checked out. I’ll stay here and keep watch."

"Brother, if anything happens to Yolanda..." Cooper’s eyes reddened as he looked at Noah.

Noah let out a deep sigh. "Then your brother would never forgive you for the rest of his life."

Cooper chuckled bitterly. "I wouldn’t forgive myself either."

Neither man said another word. They sat down in chairs, waiting. This moment felt like an eternity for both of them.

During that time, Isabella Ross and Melissa Greenwood both called. The two men brushed them off with a few words and quickly hung up.

About three hours later, the emergency room lights finally went off. Ivy Hall came out.

Both men jumped to their feet, rushing forward simultaneously and asked in unison, "How is she?"

Ivy Hall removed her mask, exhaled deeply, and then broke into a smile. "You’re lucky. Both the mother and children are safe."

Cooper’s legs gave out, and he nearly collapsed.

Noah grabbed him, "Are you okay? Should I take you for a checkup?"

"I’m fine, I’m fine." Cooper kept his eyes locked on Ivy Hall, clearly hoping for more details.

"The mother lost too much blood and is temporarily unconscious, but don’t worry. She should wake up tonight," Ivy Hall continued to explain. "As for the babies—twins. The girl weighs five pounds two ounces, the boy four pounds eight ounces. For premature births, it’s fortunate they’re not worse off."

Noah and Cooper finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Can we go in and see them?" Noah immediately asked.

"Do you want to see the children or the mother?"

Both answered in unison, "The mother."

Ivy Hall seemed unsurprised by this reply. "You can’t see either. According to protocol, Yolanda must be monitored in the ICU for at least 24 hours, and as for the babies—they’re too small and need to stay in incubators temporarily."

Both men nodded.

At this point, Lola Gold and Adam Sterling arrived. Having heard the news, they rushed over. Upon learning that Yolanda and the children were safe, they too breathed out a sigh of relief.

Lola, knowing Old Master Coldson was no longer around, spoke gently. "Brother, you two should head back. Adam and I will stay here to watch over everything. Don’t worry."

Understanding the situation during their trip there, Adam Sterling nodded in agreement. "Yes, go back for now. We’re here, and if there’s any update, we’ll notify you immediately."

"Alright." With Old Master Coldson gone, Noah, being the eldest grandson and Cooper the family head, couldn’t avoid responsibilities at home.

"Call me immediately if anything changes." Noah reminded them again before leaving with Cooper.
