Chapter 260: Chapter 260: She Actually Never Had a Choice
"Grandfather!" Yolanda Greenwood had long since stopped thinking about these things, "I’ve already filed for divorce, me and Cooper Coldson... let’s not talk about it anymore."
Old Master Coldson sighed deeply, talking to himself, "I always feel it’s a pity, this child... Alas!"
"Grandfather, take good care of yourself. In two more months, they’re going to be born," Yolanda would become a little excited whenever she thought about the children’s imminent arrival, "By then, Grandfather will need to hold them."
"Okay, okay," the old man smiled, "I won’t mention it from now on, won’t mention it anymore."
He always felt it was a pity about these two children, and understood that if he gave up, there really would be no hope for them anymore.
Given the current situation, no one seemed to bring it up anymore, and he should not persist stubbornly.
"Yolanda, as long as you are happy, Grandfather is happy for you," Old Master Coldson finally said.
Yolanda smiled, "Yolanda also hopes Grandfather is happy and safe."
When she pushed the door, she found it was ajar—deliberately left that way by the caretaker.
She felt an inexplicable unease and even more so when she saw the person outside, nearly losing her soul in fright.
"Ah! When... when did you start standing here?"
Cooper Coldson looked at her, his face expressionless, "What’s wrong? Are you afraid someone is eavesdropping while you talk to Grandfather?"
Yolanda’s face went pale, "You... what did you hear?"
Before Cooper could answer, Noah Coldson came upstairs, clearly having heard Yolanda’s scream.
"What’s wrong?" Noah looked at Yolanda with concern, warily glancing at Cooper.
"It’s nothing," Yolanda shook her head, anxiously looking at Cooper.
Cooper chuckled lowly, "Don’t worry, I just got here and didn’t hear anything."
Yolanda’s heart raced; she didn’t know if she could trust Cooper’s words.
Cooper looked at the two people in front of him, standing very close, appearing intimately united.
His gaze finally rested on Yolanda, "I received a call from the court."
Yolanda stuttered, remaining silent.
"Yolanda, I never thought you could be so heartless," Cooper’s eyes filled with mockery, "Why bother? Are you afraid I’d cling to you and refuse to divorce?"
"I didn’t mean that," Yolanda explained. "Filing for divorce and going to court, as long as we both agree, we can get the divorce certificate without needing any cooling-off period or further hassles."
Cooper crossed his arms, "What? Are you planning to marry my brother while pregnant? Is that why you’re in such a hurry?"
He looked at Noah disdainfully, "Brother agrees too? He doesn’t think it will lead people to gossip about this woman?"
"Cooper," Noah quickly replied, "This is between Yolanda and me. Whatever Yolanda wishes, I respect, and you don’t need to comment here."
He gently supported Yolanda, "Yolanda, do you want to come to my room for a while?"
"No need, I want to go back," Yolanda’s face looked unwell; she always felt that Cooper had heard something.
"Okay, I’ll take you back," Noah led her downstairs.
As they passed the living room, Isabella Ross was there. Yolanda went to greet her, "Aunt Ross, I’m preparing..."
"Yolanda, come and sit in my room for a while," Isabella Ross stood up, interrupting Yolanda.
Knowing she couldn’t avoid it, Yolanda nodded.
"Yolanda, if you don’t want to go, you don’t have to, I’ll take you back," Noah whispered in her ear.
"It’s okay," Yolanda curled her lips, signaling that she was fine, and asked Noah to wait in the living room.
She followed Isabella into the room.
As soon as the door closed, Isabella’s expression darkened, her gaze at Yolanda turned colder.
Such a gaze was familiar to Yolanda; it was how Isabella looked at her whenever she visited the Coldson family mansion with Cooper.
Her mood, however, hadn’t changed much given the situation.
"Sit down," Isabella said coldly.
Yolanda shook her head, "No need, just say what you have to say."
Sitting down now would only make her more uncomfortable given her condition.
Isabella sat down on her own, looking up at Yolanda, "Little Noah has been with you abroad for three months."
Yolanda remained silent, which was taken as assent.
"Now everyone basically believes you are going to be married and thinks the child in your belly is Little Noah’s," Isabella’s tone was calm.
Yolanda was surprised – how did people in her country know about her and Noah Coldson’s time abroad?
Did Isabella mean she had to accept marrying Noah now?
"What does that expression mean?" Isabella clearly saw Yolanda’s reluctance.
"Aunt Ross, these three months, my brother indeed stayed in M country. If I had to deny any relationship, saying it has nothing to do with me, I couldn’t say it," Yolanda paused, "But... have you considered whether this is fair to him?"
Isabella found this amusing, "You let him stay with you, take care of you, yet you give no recognition; do you think that’s fair?"
"I am naturally very grateful to him, and if he needs anything, whatever I can do, I’m willing," Yolanda felt that now was not the right time or reason to get married, actually unfair to Noah.
All her thoughts were about the children now, for the children, for the gossip, risking her and Noah’s lives together—how was that different from her marriage with Cooper?
"Anything?" Isabella stood up laughing, "You don’t have to marry, just leave the children."
"That’s impossible!" Yolanda immediately refused.
"Yolanda, let’s be clear, not everything can be yours," Isabella’s face turned grim, "I reiterate, I won’t let a Coldson family child be left out in the cold."
She turned her back, leaving no room for negotiation, "Either you marry, or you terminate the pregnancy, it’s your choice."
"Aunt Ross..." Yolanda couldn’t accept either option.
"Leave!" Isabella began to usher her out, clearly resolved.
Yolanda couldn’t sway her, having never been able to before; she returned to the living room, utterly desolate.
"Are you okay?" Noah immediately approached her, "What did Mom say?"
"Nothing, I’m just tired," Yolanda barely had the energy to speak, "Brother, please take me back first."
In M country, at first, she had tried to make Noah leave, but he had not agreed, and gradually she stopped bringing it up.
She felt like a puppet, pushed around by everyone, as if she had the right to decide but couldn’t decide anything.
She didn’t want to marry Noah, nor did she want to terminate the pregnancy, but what else could she do?
All the way home, Noah tried several times to start a conversation but didn’t speak; he could see that Yolanda was experiencing a kind of defeat she had never felt before.
After dropping her off, he prepared to leave, "Then I’m heading back."
"Wait a minute," Yolanda stopped him.
