Entangled with My Cousin's Fiancé -
Chapter 261: Big Brother wouldn’t think I’m trying to snatch Yolanda Greenwood, would he?
Chapter 261: Chapter 261: Big Brother wouldn’t think I’m trying to snatch Yolanda Greenwood, would he?
"Hmm?" Noah Coldson looked over, perplexed.
"That...," Yolanda Greenwood hesitated, as if she had something to say but stopped short, "the things you mentioned before, do they still stand?"
Noah didn’t catch on immediately and frowned, "What things?"
Then it dawned on him, "You mean... the fake marriage thing?"
Yolanda nodded, "Can I take some time to think about it, whenever I’m ready?"
Her eyes were quietly fixed on Noah, waiting for his response.
"Of course," Noah smiled, "anytime."
He was about to turn away and leave.
"Wait a second." Yolanda took a few steps to him and looked up, "But don’t you think it’s really unfair to you?"
Noah thought for a moment, "So let me ask you, if I love you but you don’t love me, is that fair to me?"
"..." Yolanda had no reply.
Noah reached out and ruffled her hair, "So, fairness isn’t for you to decide, as long as I think it’s fair, that’s enough."
"Alright then." The hesitation in Yolanda’s eyes gradually cleared, "Give me a little more time to think it through properly, and besides, the divorce proceedings with Cooper Coldson will take a while."
Seeing her finally softening, Noah immediately said, "You don’t need a divorce certificate, it’s a fake marriage after all, don’t overthink it."
"A marriage is still a marriage, there’s no such thing as a fake marriage," Yolanda retorted, pushing him gently, "Now go back."
Only when the door closed did Noah snap back to reality. Did Yolanda really mean that she was considering marrying him?
He was overjoyed and shouted towards the inside of the door, "Take your time to think about it, I’m not in a rush."
He was simply too thrilled.
Hearing his voice, Yolanda shook her head with a smile, "He’s such an idiot."
"Have you decided?" Lola Gold just happened to hear their conversation, "Are you really going to marry that idiot?"
"I don’t know." Yolanda truly hadn’t figured it out yet, but Isabella Ross’s words were clearly forcing her to make a decision. Perhaps in the end, she would still need Noah’s help.
Knowing she was being a nuisance, she couldn’t continue being so selfish. If Noah really loved her, then marrying him wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
But Lola immediately countered, "Do you love him?"
Yolanda didn’t answer.
She didn’t know how to reply, but she was also clear that the likelihood of not loving him was quite high.
Her feelings for Noah were more about reliance and trust, not the same as the burning moth-like affection she once had for Cooper.
But love alone isn’t enough for marriage, and one-sided love is even harder.
"Alright, enough thinking for now," Lola pulled her to sit down, "Sort out the things in front of you first. Have a safe delivery of the twins, and everything else can be discussed later."
Yolanda thought the same, with so many issues, she could only resolve them one by one.
In the Coldson Family mansion, as soon as Noah stepped inside, he was humming a tune happily, but then he saw Cooper sitting on the couch.
He hesitated but still greeted him, "Why aren’t you sleeping? Has Melissa Greenwood left?"
Cooper looked at him coldly and stood up, taking a few steps forward, "I need to talk to my big brother."
"About what?" Noah could sense that the atmosphere became tense in an instant, Cooper’s emotions seemed off.
He frowned, "You’re not in the best of moods right now, whatever it is, let’s talk some other time."
His mood was good today; he didn’t want to fight with Cooper.
However, Cooper blocked his way, "We need to talk about this now."
Noah was somewhat helpless, but seeing Cooper’s insistence, he nodded, "Alright, to my room then."
Upstairs and behind the closed door of his room, Cooper looked even more upset, "Is the child in Yolanda’s belly really yours?"
Noah was slightly taken aback, not expecting Cooper to bring up the child again.
He tried to appear calm, "Cooper, what madness is this? Haven’t I told you many times before that the child is mine?"
"Is that so?" Cooper’s gaze was unblinking and intense.
"Of course." Noah unwittingly averted his gaze.
"Big brother, though both are Coldson’s flesh and blood, and mom wouldn’t object, but if you want to raise your brother’s child, shouldn’t you ask your brother’s opinion?"
Cooper’s tone had an accusatory edge.
Noah was inwardly shocked, had Isabella Ross said anything?
After a moment’s thought, he began, "Cooper, I don’t know what you’ve heard, or what you wrongly believe, but there’s one thing you must understand."
"If the child really is yours, but whether it’s the child’s mother, me, or our mother, if we’re all trying to deceive you and keep it a secret from you, do you still consider the child yours?"
"Noah Coldson!" Cooper, previously at the patriarch’s door, had vaguely heard something, but he wasn’t sure. Nonetheless, Noah’s reaction now nearly confirmed his suspicion.
He was incensed, grabbing onto Noah’s collar, hissing between clenched teeth, "Whose child is it, exactly?"
"Of course, it’s mine." Noah pushed him away, "Cooper, stop it, you and Yolanda are already over, continuing like this will only make you the butt of the joke."
Cooper suddenly laughed, "Big brother, you’re not thinking that I want to compete with you for Yolanda, are you?"
He clicked his tongue twice, "She’s just someone I dumped a long time ago. But you know, Melissa can’t get pregnant. If I find out she’s pregnant with my child..."
His gaze turned fiercer, "No one is allowed to take that child away."
After saying this, Cooper slammed the door and left, feeling like he was on the verge of madness.
The words Noah had just spoken kept echoing in his ears. Indeed, if the child was his, then he was truly pitiful.
Yolanda had filed for divorce, and her determination to leave him was unyielding. What exactly was he doing?
The child!
Right, he didn’t love Yolanda either. All he wanted was the child.
If the child was his, then he had to be reclaimed!
Back in his room, Cooper immediately called Richard Reyes, "Help me inquire at the hospital about doing a DNA test."
"DNA test?" Richard was puzzled, whom was his boss planning to test with? Or...
Then, he heard Cooper continue, "Yes, with an unborn child. Whether it’s feasible, how it can be done, help me find out."
"Yes." Richard hadn’t even had the chance to say goodbye before the other party hung up.
"An unborn child?" It immediately occurred to him that it must be Yolanda’s, "Could it be... that the child Yolanda is carrying belongs to the boss?"
This thought jolted him.
He didn’t dare delay, planning to personally visit the hospital to get clear answers the next day.
Ever since Melissa Greenwood returned to the country, her marriage to Cooper had been continuously delayed, and Cooper’s divorce from Yolanda was never finalized.
In fact, Richard harbored some guesses; his boss had probably changed his mind.
This matter, he must act quickly.
