Chapter 257: Chapter 257: Just Go Ahead and File for Divorce
"Where did your mom go?" Cooper Coldson asked again.
Little May looked timidly at Melissa Greenwood, then lowered her head, "I don’t know, mom left."
Melissa’s heart rose to her throat, she immediately pulled Little May close, "Cooper, since you don’t oppose, I am relieved now."
Cooper thought for a moment before he answered, "In the future, when there’s a suitable place, we will send her away."
"Okay." Melissa finally felt relieved.
She asked, "By the way, did you get the divorce papers with Yolanda Greenwood this time?"
She had asked casually, after all this matter had dragged on for so long, it would be unacceptable if it wasn’t settled.
Unexpectedly, Cooper did not respond.
"You didn’t get them?" Melissa’s anger surged instantly, she couldn’t help but squeeze Little May’s hand a bit harder, and Little May immediately burst into tears.
"Wuwuwu... Mommy, you hurt me..."
As soon as these words came out, Melissa’s heart immediately became anxious.
Cooper frowned, "What did she just call you?"
"Ah?" Melissa started playing dumb, turning her back to Cooper she squatted down, her face stern as she stared at Little May, "What did you just call me?"
"May was wrong, May won’t dare again," Little May immediately started crying.
Of course, Cooper heard it clearly.
Melissa quickly pulled Little May into her arms, "All right, don’t cry, no one is blaming you, aunt isn’t angry."
She looked back at Cooper with a heartbroken face, "Cooper, this child is so pitiful, Senior Brother Brooks used to say she always cried out for her mom, probably because I have been taking care of her these past few days, she started seeing me as her mother."
Cooper nodded, "Then let her be."
Melissa was delighted, "Then can she... call you daddy?"
"I don’t want," Little May immediately refused, "I have a daddy, my daddy is Brooks Parker."
Cooper sighed in relief.
Melissa pinched Little May harder again.
"Wuwuwu..." Little May immediately began to cry, "Mommy, you hurt me."
Cooper became somewhat annoyed by her crying, "She’s just a three-year-old, be gentle."
"May is a good girl, aunt didn’t mean it," Melissa, not daring to be rough again, awkwardly explained, "I haven’t raised a child, don’t know my own strength, didn’t realize she was so sensitive to pain."
She stood up and returned to their initial conversation, "Why didn’t you manage to get a divorce from Yolanda? Did she pull some tricks again?"
"It wasn’t her." Cooper immediately defended Yolanda.
Melissa was furious: So it was Cooper playing tricks!
But she couldn’t voice this thought.
She could only show a face full of grievance, "Divorce, like marriage, isn’t child’s play, you guys can’t keep playing around with this."
Cooper massaged his temples, "That day there really was an emergency, grandfather’s condition wasn’t good, I couldn’t leave."
Melissa knew, Cooper had softened his heart, or he now also began to not want a divorce.
She had to push harder.
"Cooper, I trust you, just don’t let me down again." Melissa said, then left.
Back in the car, she pinched Little May several times, "You little bitch, who taught you such duplicity? I told you not to call me mom, yet you still did!"
Little May cried out in pain, "May didn’t mean it, May is hurting."
Melissa knew, a three-year-old child wouldn’t be scheming, probably was just scared because it hurt.
Thankfully, she had managed to smooth things over, so even if May called her mom again in the future, Cooper wouldn’t suspect.
"Also, your dad is already dead, why won’t you call Uncle Cooper daddy?" Melissa tempted her, "Little May, let me tell you, Uncle Cooper is very powerful, has a lot of money, anything you want he can buy for you, but you need to call him daddy."
Yet Little May still disagreed, "No, May has a daddy."
"You little stubborn, pig-headed one," Melissa cursed inwardly, this child is just like Brooks, not like her, so stupid.
On the other hand, Yolanda and their group had gone to the police station in the morning, and after cooperating with the investigation, they didn’t have much to show for it.
Yolanda had arranged to meet Melissa at a cafe, with Noah Coldson and Adam Sterling joining.
"I won’t join the crowd." Leah Diaz was planning to go back to the company to handle her resignation, as Little Wood was still waiting for her in the homeland.
"Alright, you go ahead, call me if you need anything."
The two groups parted ways.
At the café, Yolanda and her group soon saw Melissa and Little May.
"Aunt Yolanda," Little May was happy to see Yolanda, immediately went over and hugged her, "May missed you so much."
Yolanda tenderly stroked the little one’s head, "How has May been lately?"
She asked this while subtly glancing at Melissa, clearly inquiring about how Melissa had been treating May.
May immediately said happily, "Mommy has been very nice to May, bought May lots of new clothes."
"That’s good," Yolanda was somewhat surprised but hearing May say this herself, she was happy.
"Have Big Brother take May outside to play for a while," Melissa wanted to talk alone with Yolanda.
Yolanda nodded, looking at Noah and Adam, "You guys take her outside."
"Sure, call us if you need anything," Noah took the child with him.
Melissa sneered, "See, isn’t this good? Just let May stay with you guys, since Brother Noah is from the Coldson Family, he won’t mind supporting another."
Yolanda was speechless, she had indeed thought this before, but Brooks didn’t agree.
Even if Brooks had agreed, why should Melissa so presumptuously expect others to support her daughter?
"Melissa, you killed Brooks, didn’t you?" Yolanda got straight to the point.
"What are you talking about?" Melissa’s face changed, "Do you have evidence? The police already said Brooks died from drug overdose, what does that have to do with me?"
"Why would he suddenly overdose?" Yolanda always found it suspicious.
Melissa scoffed, "Yolanda, are you out of your mind trying to understand a drug addict’s thoughts? Why don’t you try it yourself?"
Yolanda still suspected her, "Melissa, heaven has a way of uncovering truths, you know very well what you did."
"Yolanda, you stop pretending to be some sort of international cop, I’ve already done what I promised you, what about you?"
Melissa tapped the table, "You even said you would marry Big Brother, you haven’t even managed to divorce Cooper, how can I believe you?"
"The day of the divorce I went, it was Cooper..."
Melissa interrupted her, "What are you trying to say? You want to tell me Cooper fell in love with you? Doesn’t want to divorce you?"
"That’s not what I meant." Yolanda sighed, "I will find another way."
"Big sister, these divorce papers back and forth, it’s once a month, aren’t you tired?" Melissa hugged her arms, "Just go file for divorce directly!"
