Chapter 164: Chapter 164 Jaxon Greenwood Suspects Melissa After Learning the Truth
"I’ll go." Lola Gold stopped Noah Coldson. "I know more about the situation than you do, and if I go... there is more hope."
"That sounds good, then give it your all!" Noah Coldson also felt that this was better, and he gave Yolanda Greenwood’s contact information to Lola Gold, "Try to arrange a meeting first, if you can’t manage it, then we’ll think of another way."
Lola Gold immediately called Jaxon Greenwood.
"Uncle Greenwood, hello, I’m Yolanda’s good friend Lola Gold. If it’s convenient, could we possibly meet?"
"Are you a friend of Yolanda Greenwood?"
Jaxon Greenwood’s voice sounded exceptionally tired.
Lola Gold was apprehensive, worried that Jaxon Greenwood would refuse to meet upon hearing Yolanda’s name.
She quickly laughed nervously a few times, "Yes, Uncle Greenwood, I know there has been a misunderstanding between you and Yolanda, but I really have something important, and I’d like to meet with you."
"Where is Yolanda?"
"Don’t worry, it’s just me alone." Lola Gold felt that there was little hope left, as Jaxon Greenwood clearly detested Yolanda deeply.
She guessed that Jaxon Greenwood wouldn’t agree to meet her.
"Alright, just come to my house then. I’ll give you the address." To her surprise, Jaxon Greenwood agreed to the meeting.
After hanging up, Lola Gold hurriedly walked out, "I’m on my way now."
Even if there was only one percent of hope, for Yolanda’s sake, she would put in two hundred percent effort.
Lola Gold even bought a gift.
When she arrived at the Greenwood Family home, upon entering, she was greeted by an overwhelming sadness and solemnity that made one want to sigh.
Lola Gold quickly saw Jaxon Greenwood and her eyes widened in surprise.
In just a few days, half of Jaxon Greenwood’s hair had turned white, and he looked as if he had aged a dozen years.
Melissa Greenwood wasn’t there, and the servants were all busy; Jaxon Greenwood was alone in the living room, sorting out Gemma Morgan’s belongings.
Lola Gold’s heart ached unexpectedly; she had only heard from Yolanda Greenwood that Jaxon Greenwood and Gemma Morgan had been exceptionally close, but now, seeing such a scene, she truly believed that undying love existed in this world.
"Uncle Greenwood!" She approached softly, noticing two cell phones on the table, guessing that one of them must have belonged to Gemma.
"Have a seat," Jaxon Greenwood looked up at her briefly, then continued sorting items.
Lola sat down on the sofa, the scene before her left her unsure of how to start the conversation.
Jaxon Greenwood’s response at the moment was calm, but what about his emotions? Might he blame Gemma’s death on the blood donation to Yolanda?
Indeed, Jaxon Greenwood’s first question was about Yolanda.
"Why didn’t Yolanda come?"
Lola struggled momentarily, then decided to honestly express her thoughts, hoping to touch Jaxon Greenwood.
"Uncle Greenwood, Yolanda...," she sighed heavily, "she and the baby have been in a critical condition."
"The baby?" Jaxon Greenwood stopped cleaning the photo, surprised as he looked at Lola.
Lola nodded, "Yolanda is pregnant, almost three months now."
Jaxon Greenwood frowned deeply, "Is the child Cooper Coldson’s? Does Cooper know?"
"He doesn’t know, and Yolanda doesn’t want him to know," Lola sniffed, "This child has nothing to do with the Coldson Family."
Jaxon Greenwood looked at her again, his eyes clearly filled with confusion.
"Uncle Greenwood, Yolanda is in great danger. She needs your help."
The confusion in Jaxon Greenwood’s eyes deepened.
Lola continued to explain, "The day she donated blood to Aunt Morgan, Yolanda passed out and hasn’t woken up since."
Jaxon Greenwood quickly remembered that incident; that day, he had hit Yolanda.
Thinking about it spread an unprecedented guilt in his heart; at that time, Gemma was in a critical condition, and he, overly worried, had lost his rationality.
He was at fault in this matter.
"Uncle Greenwood," Lola pointed at the cell phones on the coffee table, "Is this one Aunt Morgan’s?"
Jaxon Greenwood nodded.
"Then, in the past few days, has it received any messages? Or has someone been continuously calling?"
Jaxon Greenwood frowned, "No."
"That’s impossible, after Yolanda woke up, she’s been trying to contact Aunt Morgan," Lola spoke softly, "She doesn’t know about Aunt Morgan yet."
Jaxon Greenwood suddenly remembered something; both cell phones were Gemma’s, but one of them had run out of battery.
He stood up, found a charger, and plugged the dead phone in.
The two waited quietly, and soon, the phone was operable.
Upon turning it on, Jaxon Greenwood saw messages from Yolanda and several missed calls.
He frowned in confusion; had Yolanda always cared about Gemma? This... why was it different from what Melissa had said?
"Uncle Greenwood, Yolanda’s condition is very critical now, if she learns about Aunt Morgan," Lola barely managed to continue, pausing for a while, "the baby might not survive."
She rose to her feet and knelt down, "Uncle Greenwood, I know this isn’t fair or kind to you, but... could you pretend to be Aunt Morgan and reply to Yolanda with the phone, just to keep her reassured for a little while?"
"Get up!" Jaxon Greenwood spoke coldly.
Lola hesitated for a moment, then stood up, "Uncle Greenwood, you’ve misunderstood Yolanda before, her feelings for Aunt Morgan are the same as yours, you believe me."
There were also a few messages Yolanda had sent earlier still on the phone, and Jaxon Greenwood scrolled through them one by one.
There weren’t many replies from Gemma, more numerous were Yolanda’s updates and care, but Jaxon could clearly feel his wife’s happiness.
If that was the case, then why hadn’t Gemma ever defended Yolanda?
And Melissa, why did she lie?
Seeing him neither agree nor refuse, Lola grew more anxious, "Uncle Greenwood, just send one message, just one to trick Yolanda, please? Even a single word!"
The more Jaxon read, the more his heart ached; he had been cold and harsh to Yolanda because of a misunderstanding, had he really been wrong?
He had even hit her!
Jaxon clenched his fists in self-reproach the instant he thought of it, "Which hospital is Yolanda at?"
"Ah?" Lola became unsettled, not understanding why Jaxon suddenly asked this.
"If I tell her myself, she might believe it more," Jaxon stood up to get his coat, "I’ll go with you to see her now."
"Really?" Lola could hardly believe it.
"Isn’t it urgent?" Jaxon asked her back.
"Yes, yes, let’s go now," Lola, overjoyed, wiped her tears and hurriedly led Jaxon to the hospital.
At the hospital room’s entrance, they saw Noah Coldson waiting outside.
Lola stepped forward quickly, "Uncle Greenwood agreed, he’ll tell Yolanda himself."
Jaxon looked at the two, then glanced inside the room.
Yolanda evidently hadn’t woken up yet, her pale face tranquilly lying there.
Not sure if it was his imagination, Jaxon Greenwood thought the child’s eyes seemed red, as if she had been crying.
"Uncle Greenwood," Noah spoke up, "Yolanda just fell asleep, could you please wait outside for a bit?"
Jaxon Greenwood kept his gaze fixed on the person inside the room, "May I go in and wait there?"
