Chapter 116: Chapter 116: The Clown in Their Love Drama

Yolanda Greenwood sat on the bed for a while before she recovered.

Exhausted, she left the room and saw Lola Gold had already prepared breakfast.

"How come you look so pale? Didn’t sleep well?" Lola approached with concern in her face.

"It’s nothing, just had a dream." Yolanda forced a smile, noticing that Lola was already dressed to go out, "Are you going out? Aren’t you having breakfast?"

Lola handed her the phone.

Yolanda saw a text message signed by Sunny Coldson.

"Sunny Coldson wants to meet with you?"

Lola nodded, "She must have found out about yesterday’s incident. Probably coming to make a scene."

"Why should she make a scene with you?" Yolanda, with a woman’s sixth sense, knew that Sunny must be up to no good and turned to go back to her room, "I’ll come with you."

"No need." Lola held her back, amused, "With your current state of fighting power, I might have to protect you when the time comes."

"I don’t care, I have to go." Although it wasn’t a fight between a wife and a mistress, Yolanda was always worried that Lola would be at a disadvantage.

"Alright, alright, I’ll let you come." Lola couldn’t argue with her, "First, have breakfast."

After eating, they set off together and were already fifteen minutes late when they arrived at the coffee shop.

At the entrance, Yolanda saw Sunny Coldson.

"Find a place to sit; I’ll go talk to her." Lola patted Yolanda’s shoulder and walked towards Sunny.

Sunny was wearing large sunglasses. When she saw Lola approach, she immediately stood up, "Sorry to inconvenience you, Miss Gold."

"No problem, ran into some trouble on the way, I’m late," Lola took a seat first, noticing that Sunny had no intention of removing her sunglasses.

"I’m sorry for the impromptu meeting." Sunny’s attitude was very humble, speaking softly, continuously apologizing.

Lola frowned, "Miss Coldson, just be straightforward. What do you want to say, or ask?"

"Miss Gold, don’t get me wrong, I’m not here to confront you." Sunny said as she took off her glasses.

She wasn’t wearing makeup today. Her bare face showed her eyes, red and swollen.

Lola glanced unconsciously in Yolanda’s direction.

"Miss Gold, Christopher told me about yesterday," Sunny put her glasses back on, "I’m here to apologize on his behalf."

Lola clenched her fists instantly, "Apologize? Didn’t he speak for himself?"

"He will not meet with you in the future." Sunny said and handed over her phone, indicating for Lola to take a look.

Lola skeptically looked at the phone and her eyes widened in shock. On the screen, it seemed Christopher Coldson was kneeling on the ground.

She looked incredulously at Sunny.

Sunny pushed the phone closer again, signaling Lola to watch the video.

Lola’s heart began to race; she subconsciously knew that after watching the video, she would be utterly defeated, but she couldn’t help wanting to see.

She glanced at Sunny one last time, took the phone, and played the video.

The video had no sound, but it was clear to see that Christopher was kneeling, his face not showing his usual nonchalance but rather streaming with tears.

Even though she couldn’t hear what he was saying, she could imagine he was admitting his wrongs.

Lola sat stunned for a long time even after the video had ended.

The person in the video was so familiar and yet so foreign.

So Christopher really did care, then what about yesterday...

Sunny interrupted Lola’s thoughts.

"These years, the Coldson Group has been supporting many orphanages. I was adopted by the family head when I was five; at that time, Christopher was only three, still a child who understood nothing."

"We grew up together, by each other’s side, during the rise of the Coldson Group, not seeing the family head for months on end."

"I always considered him a younger brother, repaying the kindness to him that I owed the family head and the Coldson Family. In my eyes, he was more important than my own life, never once did I consider that he would fall in love with me."

Lola’s nails dug deep into her palm.

"I’ve rejected him, and then he would harm himself, slashing his arms full of wounds. He let himself decay, learning to smoke and drink, destroying himself as revenge against me, what was I supposed to do?"

Lola saw tears streaming down from behind Sunny’s large sunglasses, and before she knew it, she herself was also in tears.

"He is the person I love most in this world, be it as a brother or a lover. He is more important than my life. But I also deeply understand... we’re impossible..."

Sunny seemed unable to continue, biting her lip in silence for a long time before speaking again.

"Later, the Coldson Family discovered our relationship. I had no choice, I couldn’t defy the family head, I... had to sever ties with the Coldson Family."

Lola was startled, so Sunny had cut ties with the Coldson Family back then, hence Yolanda didn’t know of her existence.

She laughed suddenly, "The status of Miss Coldson has much more appeal than being Christopher’s wife."

"Yes, sometimes I think it was stupid," Sunny shook her head, "If I hadn’t gone abroad that year, if I hadn’t been apart from Christopher for so long, maybe... he wouldn’t have made such a mistake now, hurting both me and you."

She lowered her head, "Actually, after coming back, I’ve always known he resented and hated me in his heart, always looking for a chance to get back at me, unexpectedly..."

Lola’s coffee cup suddenly dropped to the floor.

"Miss Gold?" Sunny quickly stood up, "Are you alright?"

But she saw a figure rush to Lola’s side before herself.

"Lola, what’s wrong?" Yolanda approached with worry, having watched from afar, noticing Lola’s complexion worsen.

"It’s nothing, just didn’t hold it properly," Lola recovered and looked at Sunny, not wanting to stay a second longer, "Don’t worry, I’m not pregnant. I just went for a checkup yesterday. I will not meet with Christopher again."

She pulled Yolanda to leave, "I’ll pay for the coffee, goodbye!"

Confused, Yolanda was dragged out of the coffee shop by Lola.

Once outside, Lola walked into an adjacent alley.

Yolanda could feel Lola’s hand shaking. She didn’t know what Sunny had said, but it made Lola react so drastically.

Finally, in a secluded spot, Lola could no longer control her emotions and burst into tears in Yolanda’s arms.

She was such a joke.

Yesterday, she was delusional, thinking maybe Christopher had feelings for her, that perhaps she should give it a try.

But in the end, she was still just a tool, the clown in their love story.

It was ridiculous, too ridiculous!!!
