Chapter 115: Chapter 115: The Child in Her Womb is a Bastard
Finding someone, especially when they weren’t trying to hide, was a piece of cake for Noah Coldson.
His eyes watched the person who slowly walked over.
Christopher Coldson hadn’t expected Noah to come looking for him, and after the initial shock, he quickly calmed down.
He figured his older nephew wouldn’t be the type to meddle in others’ business.
"Is Lola Gold inside?" Noah asked bluntly as soon as he opened the door.
Christopher nodded. He knew that Noah had recently gotten close to Yolanda Greenwood and Lola Gold, even going as far as to change their housing.
But why?
Just because the old man liked Yolanda?
When he saw Noah head toward the room, he reminded him in a deep voice, "She’s sleeping."
"I’ll wait at the door!" Noah said without looking back.
Sure enough, he didn’t ask any further questions.
Christopher wasn’t much older than Noah and his memories of his older nephew were scant.
But he could never forget Noah’s resolute departure to study abroad; as he grew older, each time he recalled that scene, he admired Noah even more.
If only he had had Noah’s courage and determination even once, perhaps his life would have been different.
He watched as Noah stood with his arms crossed outside the room door, shook his head in confusion, and then departed.
Christopher knew there was a whole mess waiting for him to clean up.
Noah took out his phone and sent a WeChat message to Yolanda.
[Yolanda, I’ve found Lola. She’s fine. I’ll bring her back tomorrow morning.]
Yolanda had been sitting on the living room couch, and upon seeing the message, she nearly jumped up and immediately called Noah.
"Big brother, where are you? Let me talk to Lola."
Noah hesitated for a moment, "Lola is sleeping."
"Sleeping?" Yolanda was skeptical, feeling that something was off, "Where are you? I’m coming right now."
"No need," Noah quickly decided, "We’re coming back now. Just wait at home."
After hanging up the phone, he started knocking on the door.
It took a while for Lola Gold to wake up groggily and get dressed to answer the door.
When she saw through the peephole that it was Noah, she opened the door and dragged her body, intending to go back to sleep.
"Pack up your things; I’ll take you home," Noah said sternly from the doorway, not intending to enter.
"Huh?" Lola sat listlessly on the sofa, "Now? I’m fine, you don’t have to worry about me, I’ll go back myself in the morning."
Noah slightly frowned, "Yolanda is waiting for you at home."
Instantly, Lola woke up considerably, quickly scrambled into her remaining clothes, and obediently followed Noah.
Exiting the elevator and entering the underground parking lot, she quickly caught up and whispered, "Sorry."
Noah stopped in front of the car door and looked at her expressionlessly, "You don’t need to say that to me."
Lola stuck out her tongue and briskly got into the car.
After they drove off, Melissa Greenwood came down from her own car. The engagement party had been canceled, Cooper had told her to go back first, and she hadn’t expected to run into Noah and Lola Gold.
It wasn’t strange for Noah to appear here, but why was Lola here?
Then she remembered something else. Christopher Coldson had just returned. Could it be that Christopher had been with Lola Gold this whole time? And in this very hotel?
"Ha, the young uncle really knows how to live it up!"
She closed her car door and immediately returned to the hotel. If Sunny Coldson knew about all this, there would be a good show to watch.
Yolanda, getting anxious, had gone downstairs.
As soon as she saw Noah’s car, she greeted him.
"Why did you come down?" Noah’s face turned even more displeased when he saw her.
Lola got out of the car and hurried over to hug Yolanda, "Yolanda, I’m sorry for worrying you."
She cast a pleasing look at Noah, always feeling like this man was on the brink of slashing someone.
"Let’s go back upstairs," Noah urged them.
"Mhm," Lola nodded again and again, pulling Yolanda back with her.
"Big brother, you should rest early too," Yolanda said to Noah, waving goodbye before returning with Lola.
Once inside, Lola embraced Yolanda tightly, "Yolanda, what should I do? What am I supposed to do?"
"What happened? What’s wrong?" Yolanda patted her sympathetically, "Did you go to the engagement party today?"
Lola released Yolanda and spoke in a low voice, looking downcast, "No, I didn’t go. It was Christopher. He dragged me to Empire Grand."
"What did he want to do?" Yolanda couldn’t help getting angry, "Lola, do you know? The engagement party was canceled."
Lola could probably guess, but at the time, Christopher didn’t give her a chance to refuse, or maybe... she couldn’t completely let go of him in her heart.
"I really am cheap," she scolded herself.
"Don’t you say that," Yolanda held Lola’s hand and sat down with her on the sofa, "Lola, think carefully about what you really want."
"Do you want to be with Christopher? Even if he previously only saw you as a stand-in, and even now might still see you as just a stand-in..."
Lola cut her off, "But... Sunny has already returned. He doesn’t need a stand-in like me, right?"
The spectator sees the game best, and Yolanda understood immediately, "You can’t let him go."
Lola opened her mouth to deny it but remained silent.
"Lola," Yolanda thought for a moment before speaking again, "From start to finish, you’ve done nothing wrong. Falling in love with Christopher is not your fault. You don’t have to blame yourself or feel ashamed."
Lola watched Yolanda silently, trying to keep her eyes wide so no tears would fall.
"But you need to know what Christopher really thinks, whether he wants to be with you or not..." Yolanda clarified, "Has Christopher said anything to you?"
Lola shook her head; the entire day, Christopher had given her no promises.
"Then let’s go ask him to be clear," Yolanda said through clenched teeth, "You don’t have a reason to let him summon you and dismiss you at will now."
"Thank you, Yolanda," Lola hugged her, unable to hold back her tears any longer.
"Silly," Yolanda instructed again, "Before you go to Christopher, you need to sort out your own feelings first."
"Okay," Lola quickly composed herself, "That’s enough, Yolanda. Go to sleep."
"Alright, you should sleep early too," Yolanda returned to her own room.
After she had washed up and lied down in bed, she couldn’t fall asleep for a long time, her mind preoccupied with how things would be if Melissa were also pregnant.
Eventually, she dreamt.
In the dream, Cooper was with a pregnant Melissa, calling the child in her belly a bastard and ordering someone to hit her.
Melissa laughed sinisterly nearby, clapping and cheering.
In the dream, Yolanda witnessed a pool of blood beneath her, and her two unborn children lay lifeless before taking shape.
Yolanda woke up terrified.
