Chapter 102: Are you explaining yourself because you’re afraid I’ll get jealous?

Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Are you explaining yourself because you’re afraid I’ll get jealous?

"What’s the matter?" Lola Gold’s sleepiness faded away instantly, "Did Cooper Coldson bully you?"

She clenched her fists in anger, "It’s like a dog biting Lu Dongbin, not recognizing good intentions. He was drunk, and you went to take care of him, and he still had the nerve to bully you?"

"It’s not like that." Yolanda Greenwood thought for a moment, but considering what Lola had gone through that day, she still decided to change her explanation, "It’s my own fault for going. It’s not like I was forced into it."

"What exactly happened?" As Lola saw her hesitant manner, she knew she wasn’t telling the whole truth, "I’m getting angry if you don’t tell me."

"Fine, I’ll tell you." Yolanda pulled Lola to sit down on the sofa, "Cooper was delirious and mistook me for Melissa Greenwood."

"What?" Lola’s anger flared up, "How blind is Cooper? One is a fairy and the other is a toad, how could he mistake you?"

Yolanda couldn’t help but give a bitter smile, "He was drunk and had a fever; actually... he must have had Melissa on his mind."

"Bullshit." Lola was fuming with anger, "Yolanda, don’t tell me you didn’t make it clear to him, letting him think that it was Melissa who took care of him all night."

Yolanda shook her head, "No, I made it clear."

"That’s good." Lola finally relaxed a bit and asked Yolanda again, "If Cooper invites you, will you really not go?"

"I won’t go. It’s so pointless." Yolanda hugged a cushion, her mind beating a retreat, "I shouldn’t have gone with my brother today, nor should I have agreed to not divorce in the first place."

She felt truly exhausted. After such a long struggle, when had she ever been a match for Cooper?

"But... what about the child in your belly?" Lola looked at her with sympathy.

Yes, Yolanda let out a small sigh. She wanted to try again for the child’s sake, but as for Cooper... she didn’t know what to do.

"Forget it, don’t think about it anymore. What time is it already." Lola took away her phone and pushed her to go to sleep.

"Okay, Lola, good night!" Yolanda bid Lola goodnight and obediently went to rest.

The next day, when Cooper Coldson went to have lunch with Melissa Greenwood, he received a call from Noah Coldson.

"Invite her for a meal?" Cooper glanced at Melissa, who was beside him, "I don’t see the need."

The words from Noah were clear from the phone, "She just got out of the hospital not long ago. Knowing you were sick, she came over in the middle of the night to take care of you, what’s wrong with inviting her for a meal?"

"Let’s talk about it later, I’m quite busy these days." Cooper felt the probing gaze of Melissa and a sense of embarrassment as if caught cheating.

He didn’t give Noah a chance to speak further and hung up the phone.

Melissa wore an appropriate smile, "Who did big brother ask you to invite for a meal?"

By now, she already clearly knew who it was.

Cooper uncrossed and recrossed his legs and tried to keep his voice calm, "Yolanda."

He then took the initiative to explain, "I had a fever last night, and Aunt Jasmine wasn’t there, so she took care of me half the night."

"Cooper," Melissa moved closer, taking his arm, "Are you explaining to me proactively because you’re afraid I’ll get jealous?"

Cooper paused for a moment, then pulled at the corner of his mouth as an acknowledgment.

But in reality, he hadn’t considered that Melissa might be jealous. He just wanted to make clear, that there was nothing untoward between him and Yolanda.

"Don’t worry, I’m not that petty." Melissa smiled gently, "Big brother is right, you should invite her for a meal."

She took out her phone and started scrolling, "Let’s do it today. I’ll book a place for you."

"..." Cooper was actually conflicted.

On one hand, he felt ashamed of some behaviors from last night and didn’t want to see Yolanda so soon; on the other hand, however, he wanted to have a meal with her, perhaps because of his upbringing, he didn’t want to owe her.

Melissa quickly booked a restaurant and sent the time and address to Cooper, "Send this to Yolanda. She will be very happy."

"Okay." Cooper tugged at the corner of his mouth, "Melissa, thank you."

"What nonsense?" Melissa leaned in, testing the waters, "We are about to get married, your affairs are my affairs. No need to be polite."

She noticed a flash of joy in Cooper’s eyes and secretly gritted her teeth.

Today, Yolanda slept until almost noon before she woke up. When she reached the living room, she saw the message Cooper had sent.

She hesitated whether or not to reject him.

"What’s the matter? A message from Cooper?" Lola guessed what was going on as she saw Yolanda holding her phone, looking undecided.

Yolanda nodded.

Just then, Noah’s call came in.

"Did Cooper contact you?" Noah asked directly.

"Yes." Yolanda acknowledged, somewhat embarrassedly saying, "But, big brother... maybe let’s not..."

"Do you need me to take you?" Noah interrupted her, "Remember to dress nicely."

"Okay." Yolanda didn’t refuse in the end. She didn’t want to snub Noah’s kindness.

Lola encouraged her again on the side, "Don’t overthink it. Just consider Cooper as a friend, or maybe just a classmate or schoolmate. He invited you for a meal after you helped him, isn’t that normal?"

Her reasoning was sound, "If he behaves well this time, we’ll give him another chance. If not, we black-list him permanently."

Yolanda was cheered up by Lola’s words, "Alright, let’s do as you say."

Yolanda never liked to wear makeup, and knowing she was pregnant, she embraced her natural look even more.

But it had been a long time since she had eaten out with Cooper or, to be more accurate, gone on a date.

She broke her usual habit and applied light makeup, even soothing the baby in her belly, "Be good, today mom is going on a date with dad, so she’s putting on a little makeup, not because she doesn’t love you."

"Aiyah, Yolanda, can’t you just get it done?" Lola couldn’t help but comment from the side, "The belief that pregnant women can’t wear makeup is an old harmful saying. Don’t worry about it needlessly."

"Hehe!" Yolanda giggled without arguing.

But in truth, even if there was a ninety percent chance that belief was a rumor, she would believe it.

Because she cared too much about the children in her belly, she wouldn’t do anything that might harm them.

Finally ready, Yolanda looked exceptionally radiant and vibrant for the day.

"Aiyah, such a beautiful lady, Cooper must be blind if he chose Melissa over you," Lola lamented while sending her off with a shake of her head.

"Alright, then I’m going. You have a good meal and wait for me at home," Yolanda quickly pinched Lola’s cheek and hurried off.

She found the place quickly based on Cooper’s address; to her surprise, it was a very romantic restaurant.

As she entered, it was filled with couples, clearly a hotspot for lovers.

Yolanda’s face involuntarily flushed a bit.
