Chapter 720 - 720: Searching for Moonlight Part 4
The bright figure came running down the hill and adjusted her luminescence to avoid the brief blinding that her light could cause which allowed them to see her in full. Her long silvery waist length hair waved like a wedding veil complimenting her eyes that glimmered in the same color, though there were some things that didn't add up.
Her curvaceous body matched perfectly with Luna's, but she was also way taller than they reminded her to be. She also moved way faster than any heavenly rank hunter should while emitting absolutely no flux energy.
Had that been all, they could have still explained it by Luna ranking up and learning how to better control her lycanthrope nature, but the thing that unsettled them the most was that the woman was smiling. It wasn't the uncanny imitation of a smile they were accustomed to see on her face, but one so kind and cute it was hard for them to reconcile the woman in front of them with the Luna they knew.
Everything about that woman felt seductive and alluring to Uriel, who became enthralled by her sight and couldn't take his eyes off from her.
"Hey guys." The woman spoke casually to them.
"Talk about a glow up!" Nika hugged her in her arms while she cried.
"I'm a bit in a hurry, so..." The newcomer apologized and entered Bella's tent. A bright flash of light later, she came outside carrying an entity level flux orb on her hands while Bella gagged and puked her guts out in the background.
"Did you just kill an entity rank cryptid!?" Uriel was flabbergasted as the entire process took no longer than a few seconds.
"Yes, I've been chasing that one down for a while now." She explained dismissively.
"What was that thing!?" Bella cried amidst shivers.
"I can't be certain yet, that is precisely why I was hunting it down. There's too many possibilities, but I'd say it's a night hag. They're supposedly the ones responsible for sleep paralysis and can be incredibly difficult to deal with... unless you're awesome like me."
"Of course you are awesome, you saved my life!" Bella cried as she hugged Luna and due to her wind barrier being weakened by the cryptid, she lost herself on the warmth of the embrace.
"Are you really Luna? I mean... look at you. If it wasn't for your face and your trait, I'd think you're someone else." For some reason Uriel couldn't fathom, he stuttered in a fashion much similar to how Luna used to stutter in front of him.
"Guys, you're making me uncomfortable. Can you please not touch me?"
"Yep, she's definitely Luna." Nika cried as she reluctantly let go, but the moment Bella took some distance she fell apart crying due to her recent experience with the cryptid.
"Why didn't you come help me!? I tried to shout but my voice... and that thing... it touched me!" Bella's sanity was on the verge of collapse as she had never endured something so terrifying in her life. Not even when she was stabbed in both lungs did she feel as helpless as she felt when attacked by the night hag.
"You're alright, which is more than most hunters who have been attacked by that thing can say. We should get going now, we drew too much attention and many cryptids are on their way here... including lightseekers." The huntress cautioned and the group started following her, though Uriel had to carry Bella on his arms due to her being drained of most of her flux energy.
Compared to the huntress' warmth, Uriel felt cold and not just to the touch. He picked her up in the same manner one would pick up the luggage and he held her in a firm, but emotionless grasp that did little to comfort her.
The entire time Uriel kept his eyes fixated on the new version of Luna, wondering how did she become so powerful and also if she had a boyfriend. It wasn't that Uriel wanted to break their status quo since he liked her as a friend.
Luna was intelligent and interesting, the fact that she was socially awkward and had difficulties communicating made her somewhat difficult to deal with but Uriel had learned how to better understand her.
There were many ways Uriel could have described Luna to paint her in a positive light, but never in a hundred years he would have started with the word 'attractive', yet that was the only thing he could think of now.
The new version of Luna ran faster than Uriel, keeping her trait active to light the way while also concealing her presence which obviously meant she was stronger than ever.
Due to their insane speed, the sun came up before the lightseekers reached them and the few that were chasing after them took refuge in dark caves or holes along the way right before the first rays of sun hit the ground which meant they were now safe. Still, the woman refused to slow down and continued running, forcing Uriel to activate is Dash skill and Nika to use shadow blink just to keep up.
Uriel could see a few wooden logs with carvings at a distance, though he couldn't make anything out of them other than they had to be man made and not long after he saw a town. It was nothing like he had ever seen before, at least outside magazines, since it wasn't destroyed and it also wasn't overcrowded.
It was just the same as towns from the old times, where people went about their day without the need for walls that eclipsed the sun.
"What a refreshing sight!" Nika smiled.
"Is this your hometown?" Uriel asked with a jagged breath.
"Yes, it is. Do you like it?"
"Of course I do, it's perfect." Uriel could barely contain his excitement as he wanted to learn how was it possible for such a place to exist in the middle of nowhere, without cryptids besigieng it from all sides.
"Then maybe... you can stay and live here... with me." The woman said as she played seductively with her finger on Uriel's chest and became shocked when instead of jumping to say yes, Uriel's face shifted and started channeling flux energy.
"Where is she, where is Luna?" He said in a voice so cold it could have frozen his own blood, had it not been boiling up in anger.
