Chapter 721 - 721: Mother Part 1
In response to Uriel's aggressive behavior, the woman's smile stretched wide across her face without breaking eye contact. When it became clear that she refused to speak, Uriel made the first move and slashed at her with the Red thread of fate, though the woman blocked his movement at the height of the hand.
Without missing a beat, Uriel shifted the dagger to his other hand and repeated the movement while at the same time summoning his revolver in his now free hand. The gunshots pierced through the silence of the peaceful town, but the bullets bounced off as though it was an orichalcum wall instead of a huntress.
The Red thread of fate fared no better, but only because the woman was cautious enough to either dodge or block Uriel's onslaught.
Nika remained by the side in confusion, knowing that Uriel wouldn't attack Luna out of a sudden without good reason, but things changed when she noticed Uriel was fighting to kill. As painful as it was for her to fight against someone who looked like a more adult version of Luna, the fact that Uriel was giving it his all meant it wasn't her and she joined the fight.
Her powerful legs were blocked just as easily as Uriel's attempts to slash at the woman, but Nika used shadow blink to always attack from a blind spot causing the woman to give in some ground, even though she took no damage whatsoever.
"Two against one? This isn't fair." The woman pouted, yet the smile didn't disappear from her face. She then whistled loudly and two muscular men showed up.
They went straight for Uriel, which forced Nika to block their path. One of the men landed a fist on her abdomen causing her a great deal of pain, but that didn't prevent her from countering with her elbow managing to break the man's arm.
She then continued with a fist to the face covered in her shadow armor that broke his nose at the same time she spun on her heels to deliver a back kick to the other man and sending him away.
In the meantime Uriel remained in a stalemate, though it was obvious he was at a disadvantage since the woman had yet to make a single offensive move and only limited herself to block.
"Where is she, where is Luna!?" Uriel repeated his question in an angry voice as he unleashed a barrage of attacks too varied to foresee. Kicks, slashes, fists, headbutts, everything was met with the same response, except when he attempted to bite the woman's hand.
"No biting!" She said and proceeded to launch her first attack, a swift low kick that should have broken Uriel's legs, but Nika emerged from his shadow in the nick of time and managed to block the kick with her forearm covered in shadow.
With Dash active, Uriel took a short glance at Bella who remained on the ground unable to move. The two men called by the woman were already defeated by Nika who only suffered a small amount of damage. It seemed like a victory, but it only amounted to going back to square one.
This left Uriel with no choice but to summon his trusted Jaguar, which shocked the woman for an instant, but then reacted with her trait.
The blinding light emitted by her entire body should have been more than enough to blind them, but Nika countered with her own trait summoning as many shadow tendrils as she could.
"With more light, you're only making me more powerful." Nika scoffed as she channeled an immense amount of flux to send the tendrils after the woman. Victory was at hand, but then the jaguar's summon was cancelled and shortly after Uriel fell on the ground due to flux exhaustion.
"Enough!" The woman said with a scolding tone as she cancelled her trait, making Nika's shadows to faint and then disappear. "That's not the proper way to drain a man."
"What do you mean?" Nika stopped attacking the moment she noticed Uriel had fallen.
"Well, the right way to drain a man is in the bedroom, of course." The woman explained with a nod.
"I know what that joke meant!" Nika grumbled, though it had actually gone over her head.
"You used too much flux energy and since you two have a shared flux reserve, you could have gotten him killed. In fact, he might still die if he doesn't get medical attention."
"But you're a doctor, right?" Nika probed and the woman shaking her head caused her to finally come to peace with the fact that she wasn't Luna. She felt distraught on the inside, though she also felt relieved by the woman's lack of hostility.
Uriel was fully conscious, though he pretended not to be as he waited for a chance to stab the woman the moment she let down her guard, though the woman's gaze informed him that she knew he was awake. He also felt too tired to move a muscle and he wouldn't make a move unless she attempted to cause him more harm or if he knew he could stab her without failing.
"Luckily, a field doctor moved in not too long ago. The clinic isn't far, come with me." The woman said with a smile as she picked Uriel up like a precious possession, directing a gentle loving smile at him while Nika grabbed Bella by the back of her collar and dragged her along the way to the clinic.
As soon as they stepped inside the clinic people started greeting the woman and they opened the line for her to go in first. The moment the door to the medical room opened, a tiny figure darted outside and jumped on top of Uriel sniffing him all over his body.
"Mother, what did you do to him?" Luna who remained the same as they last saw her except for a few extra kilos, glared at the woman.
"This was all her." The woman pointed at Nika who had to double take before realizing it really was Luna in front of her.
"Lunita?" She probed, now unsure thinking her eyes might be fooling her again.
