Chapter 335: Chapter 335 New Home

Wufu, along with Liu Jin and the others, arrived at the newly purchased house in the county. Madam Zhou had already settled down in the main room, while Liu Jin and the others unloaded the items they had brought; Wufu herself started to wander around this new home.

The house had only two sections, the first section being the front yard with a main room of three rooms in a row, forming a quadrangle with the east wing rooms. Leading to the second section, the backyard, was a Moon Gate.

The second section also formed a quadrangle, with corridors in a square pattern. Passing through the Moon Gate, one would see a screen wall painted with misty mountains and rain. In the center of the courtyard were two old date trees, and just like the front yard, the main room was made up of three rooms, with plenty of side rooms to the rear, offering ample living space for servants.

To the left of the corridor, there was another small Moon Gate, which led to a small garden. The former owner of this place must have been quite a person, having built a little pavilion surrounded by artificial mountains, and planted many Chinese roses and peonies around it. Along one wall, a large cluster of rose bushes had climbed up to the top, and not far beneath, there was a stone table and stone benches placed.

After walking around the entire house, Wufu was very satisfied. Not to mention that now, big and small, there were only four of them; even after hiring some servants, there would still be enough space. She also planned to buy a few more people to serve them, to avoid any inconveniences that might arise from a lack of helping hands.

Additionally, they needed two people in the kitchen; after all, who was going to cook and boil water now? She couldn’t possibly do it herself, could she?

Though capable of fending for herself, with the availability of silver to hire servants, Wufu would not let herself be bothered by these menial tasks.

It was already noon, and Wufu was starving when Liu Jin brought her some food.

"Miss, the house is not yet in order, and the kitchen is not open, so I’m afraid you’ll have to make do with the food bought from outside," Liu Jin said, his forehead covered with sweat as he explained.

"It’s fine, you’ve worked hard," Wufu said with a smile. "Once everything is settled, and we’ve hired a few more people, you and Hongyu will be able to have some relief!"

Liu Jin blushed and responded, "Miss, I am not tired. Please have your meal."

Wufu smiled and ate. After eating, she went to check on Madam Zhou and learned that she had only had a little porridge, also bought from outside, which made Wufu frown.

"We brought our own rice and grains, and we can cook. Go buy a chicken from outside and make some chicken porridge for Madam," Wufu instructed Liu Jin.

Liu Jin nodded in agreement.

"Do we still have silver?" Wufu asked.

"Miss, we still have some; this house only cost three hundred taels of silver." Liu Jin grinned, "I still have two hundred taels here!"

As he said this, he pulled it all out and handed her a note, "Miss, you don’t need so much, please take it back."

"Keep it," Wufu said, "there are still things missing in the house, you buy what’s needed."

After pondering for a moment, Liu Jin put it back and said, "Miss, I’ll take the liberty to make the purchases myself and present the accounts to you later."

Wufu raised an eyebrow, looking at him with interest.

Looking somewhat embarrassed, Liu Jin said, "It was Master Yuan and Master Li’s idea, claiming that this is how it is done in large households, with clear accounts and orderly rules..."

"Okay, let’s settle down first and take our time with the rest. We can’t get everything done at once; some things can wait until later. Don’t be too formal now," Wufu cut him off.

This new home of hers was simply a place to set foot in; she wasn’t concerned about whether it was a legacy to pass down. She thought of it as her own place where she could do as she pleased.

The future development of this house had its own course to follow. For now, the priority was to get settled.
