Chapter 336: Chapter 336 The Hands-Off Manager

The new home’s affairs were entrusted to Liu Jin to manage, and Xiao Li was asked to assist; meanwhile, Wufu himself borrowed a horse from them.

"Miss, are you playing the role of an absentee landlord?" Xiao Li couldn’t help but to smile bitterly at his master.

He was following Master Li’s orders to come and help her sort things out. After all, in this house, the elders were nearly on their deathbeds, and those who remained were little more than children. There were no other servants, and the other real master, Wufu, didn’t seem to bother with anything at all.

Xiao Li was at a loss for words. Was she genuinely lazy, or did she just have great trust in others? It was as if he were her own servant, at her beck and call.

Wufu chuckled dryly, "Let the able take on more work, right? This young lad of my household is still young, isn’t he? Taking this opportunity to learn from Master Li’s side is both his good fortune and his honor. Should he become a steward in the future, a part of that glory would be thanks to you. Wouldn’t you be proud?"

Xiao Li looked at her as if to say, keep bluffing and maybe you’ll blow the bull up into the sky.

Wufu gave a formal bow, "When helping, help thoroughly. Please bear with it, and I’ll treat you to a drink in the future, the strongest there is, how about that?"

Xiao Li thought cynically, after all these years of following Master Li, what strong drink haven’t I had yet? The strongest, indeed!

However, he didn’t say much more, instead, he replied, "Well then, I shall grasp this command token and issue orders in place of the lady."

"Fair enough," Wufu replied with a bow of her hands.

While they were speaking, a guard led a horse over. Upon seeing it, Wufu’s eyes gleamed; it was a tall, majestic horse with sleek and shiny fur, clearly a fine steed.

Wufu walked over, and Xiao Li watched with interest. He had never seen whether she could ride or not, as she had always come to the county in a horse-drawn carriage.

But he saw her take a piece of candy from a guard, hold it in her palm, whisper a few words into the horse’s ear, and the horse began to nibble the candy from her hand.

Wufu laughed as the horse’s tongue tickled her palm.

"If Madam wakes up looking for me, tell her I have some business with the owner of the Hundred Treasures Silver Building and will be right back. Tell her not to worry," Wufu instructed Liu Jin.

"Yes, Miss," he replied.

Wufu took the horse reins and, grabbing the bridle, she somehow managed to mount the horse without a stirrup assist and sat firmly in the saddle.

Looking at the smooth motion of her mounting the horse, no one would believe she hadn’t ridden before.

A glint of admiration flashed in Xiao Li’s eyes; the horse was, after all, taller than her.

Not far off, Ah Jiu was watching intently, his gaze fiery.

"Tsk, Little Fox sure knows how to play dumb," Hoo Die mocked from beside him.

Ah Jiu gave him a glance, and Hoo Die shrank back his neck.

"Hyah!" Wufu cracked the whip, and the horse sprang forward, soon disappearing from view.

Ah Jiu felt a surge of excitement, "Bring me a horse."

Soon enough, a guard led over a glossy black horse. Ah Jiu mounted smoothly, took the whip, and set off in pursuit.

Hoo Die was taken aback but was quickly propelled by Su Luo and Yuan Ye, "What are you waiting for?"

Several people quickly fetched their horses and followed after Ah Jiu.

No matter what their master intended, they, as guards and servants, could not stray far from their master’s side.

Wufu spurred the horse out of the city, kicking up a cloud of dust.

A carriage was just about to enter the city when the sound of hooves made it pause; the curtain was lifted, and a fast horse was seen racing by. Before a clear view of the rider could be had, the horse had vanished.

Wen Congrui furrowed his brows. Had he seen wrong? The person on the horseback seemed to be that girl named Wufu. Why was she here?
