Chapter 590: Chapter 585: Full of Emails
Before returning to her homeland, Cherish Turner only notified Elijah Butler and asked him not to tell anyone. In fact, during the past two years, except for Elijah, she didn’t keep in contact with anyone else. She just wanted some peace and quiet until she could return without feeling so emotional. Standing in front of the tombstone, she genuinely felt at peace.
As they left the cemetery, Elijah drove and said, "I’ll make you food when we get home. You can see if my cooking has improved! Do you know, your sudden return made me nervous for days. This time you won’t leave will you? Living overseas full-time isn’t great, just look at the rapid development in Seaside City these past two years. Please come back, don’t leave again!"
"Also, would it be alright to invite Frank to dinner later?" Elijah glanced at her while turning the steering wheel.
Cherish responded with a hum, offering no resistance.
Meeting with old friends for a meal was, after all, a pretty common occurrence.
"Then I’ll give him a call." Elijah said, picking up the earpiece, and promptly dialed.
Clouds leisurely floated across the sky, a streak of blue beneath them.
Yannis Griffith was conducting a meeting at the Griffith Group headquarters. Just as the meeting reached its midpoint, his phone began to vibrate, but it wasn’t a good time to answer. Yannis pressed the decline button and responded with a message, telling her he was in a meeting. Elijah replied swiftly to his message, saying, "She’s back."
Seeing the brief 4-worded message on the screen, Yannis felt a rush of excitement, a wave of joy flooding his mind.
"As per the operation plans of the branches, the respective heads have already submitted their plans..." A supervisor was in the middle of a speech when someone suddenly stood up, interrupting the ongoing talk with the sound of a chair being pushed against the floor, catching everyone’s attention.
Yannis looked around, his gaze finally resting upon William Griffith who sat in the center. Maintaining a calm tone, he spoke with gravity, "President Griffith, I’ve just got wind of an emergency and must leave immediately. My apologies."
William didn’t say much, merely nodding in approval.
With large strides, Yannis departed. His expression, unusually sunny and radiant, the joy in his heart seeping out, was reflected in his smiling eyes. Yannis rarely displayed such emotions, at least not in the past two years.
At the end of the meeting, everyone filed out.
Thomas Harrison, packing away his documents, suddenly heard a low cough. Surprised, he turned to look at William. His handsome, icy face bore traces of exhaustion, but was even more resolute and steadfast. Ever since returning from the United Kingdom half a year ago, he had become even more committed to his work, pouring himself into his responsibilities. As the weather turned chilly, he was, after all, human and susceptible to illnesses.
"President Griffith, are you okay?"
"I’m fine." With a simple two-word reply, William stood up and left.
Watching William’s retreating figure, Thomas Harrison had the nagging feeling that something was off.
Yannis sped towards Cherry Blossom Garden, promptly making a call. Elijah Butler was busy cooking and it was Cherish who picked up the call. Yannis greeted her with a warm smile, his familiar voice rich with affection, "Why didn’t you let me know you were coming back? I could’ve picked you up."
Hearing his words, Cherish lightly chuckled and replied, "Elijah told me you were busy, so I didn’t want to bother you."
"I’ll be there soon, we’ll talk more then."
"Okay."
After hanging up the phone, Cherish noticed Elijah’s laptop was open and out of boredom, wandered towards it. Usually occupied with work, she rarely used the internet. Suddenly remembering the timed email from years ago, she wondered about its status. She promptly typed into the keyboard and opened her email.
Instantly, the computer beeped nonstop, the constant sound was extremely annoying.
Cherish was taken by surprise, Elijah poked his head out from the kitchen and asked, "What’s going on?"
"It’s okay, just emails." Cherish replied, her eyes slightly glazed.
This two-year-old email account was crammed full of emails.
The titles of the emails were strikingly similar, all simply read "Cherish".
