Chapter 591: Chapter 586: I’m Fine

Cherish Turner’s hand holding the mouse trembled slightly. She could face their reunion calmly and smile, thinking that saying goodbye was the best ending. She closed the mailbox, letting those emails become sealed memories that she could no longer touch, or perhaps she no longer dared to touch.

As reality proved, even though two stars may seem to be a millimeter apart to the naked eye, they were actually several light-years away from each other.

Cherish stood up and said, "I’m going to take a shower."

By the time Cherish finished showering, Elijah Butler had already cooked dinner – four dishes and a soup.

The original chicken stew, shrimp and ribs were precooked, with only two vegetarian dishes freshly stir-fried.

Elijah carried bowls and chopsticks into the living room and said as he set the table, "Yannis Griffith just called. He said he had an emergency and might be a little late. He told us not to wait for him and start dinner." After that, he added, "He’s been really busy these past two years, but he’s been taking good care of me."

In Cherish’s impression, Elijah rarely showed any affection for men, but it seemed that things had changed now. This seemed to be the first time she had heard Elijah speak up for a man. Cherish walked to the dining table and sat down, supporting her chin with one hand, and doubtfully uttered two words, "Really?"

"Yeah, I can testify to that." Elijah handed her the chopsticks, Cherish took them with a smile, and said, "Elijah, are you speaking up for him?"

Elijah sat down across from her, looking unfazed, and said casually, "I’m just telling the truth."

"You’re not with Senior Yannis, are you?"

"Nonsense, how could that be? I just think you shouldn’t be fixated on William Griffith. Maybe Yannis is really a good choice."

Is that so? But for some people, even if they aren’t that great or can’t be with you forever, they’re still irreplaceable, right?

Cherish uttered an "oh" and didn’t say anything more. She picked up a piece of ribs and took a bite, smilingly said, "This tastes really good."

The two chatted and laughed as they finished their dinner, and Cherish felt tired afterward. The more than ten-hour flight had worn her out. They waited for a while without Yannis arriving; assuming he was busy and not wanting to be rushed, Elijah didn’t call him. Too exhausted, Cherish went straight to bed.

It was almost eight o’clock in the evening when Yannis arrived.

Elijah was lying on the couch watching TV with a pillow in his arms. Hearing the knock on the door, he quickly got up to answer, not even having time to put on his slippers. As soon as he opened the door, Yannis’ handsome and smiling face appeared. Elijah mumbled a "come in" and put on his slippers, asking, "Have you had dinner?"

Yannis’ gaze swept anxiously across the apartment, but he couldn’t find the other person he was looking for and grew anxious. "Where is she?"

Elijah glanced towards the bedroom, "She’s asleep."

Yannis changed into slippers and walked towards the tightly closed bedroom door. He stood at the door, not opening it, nor rushing to see her, even though the urge to do so was strong. "She must be tired from just getting back."

"Hey, have you eaten or not?" Elijah asked again.

"I ate." Yannis finally responded.

It wasn’t until the next day that Cherish saw Yannis, when he brought breakfast. Early in the morning, Elijah was still asleep, but Cherish was accustomed to getting up early. When the two met again, there was no awkwardness. Yannis kindly asked, "How have you been these past two years?"

"Pretty good."
