Chapter 566: Chapter 565: I’m Sorry

She smiled and said, "William’s hair is so black and beautiful, just like your mother’s."

She always smiled, even when she left, she smiled.

But how could she still laugh and say those words, turning around and walking away without looking back?

Seeing that he hadn’t responded for a while, Cherish Turner continued, "Not even one? Then I must be the first!"

Cherish turned off the shower and got a dry towel for him to dry his hair. As she wiped his hair, she laughed and said, "William, your hair is so black and beautiful."

"Stop it!" William Griffith suddenly spoke up.

Cherish was startled by his outburst and murmured, "William..."

"I told you to stop talking!" he said sharply, leaving Cherish bewildered. Realizing his unusual behavior, he immediately calmed down. Seeing her still holding the towel, standing there staring blankly at him, he reached out and touched her face, his fingers gently brushing her cheek. "Cherish, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have yelled at you..."

In Cherish’s eyes, his cold, handsome face showed a hint of helplessness. His words went straight to her ears, the three words touching her heart, causing her eyebrows to furrow. From the beginning when they first met until now, he had never said "I’m sorry." Not even once. But now he said it, and why did he say it? Why did he ask her to stop talking?

Cherish reached out and put her hand on his, his big hand always so warm, making her linger with affection. She whispered, "William, what’s wrong?"

William stared at her blankly for a moment, as if something came to his mind. He slowly let go of her hand, but her cold touch still lingered on the back of his hand. He didn’t say anything more.

William turned and walked out of the bathroom, and Cherish followed him, puzzled. She watched him sit down in the living room, and she finally approached him slowly. Still holding the towel, she crouched down in front of him and continued to dry his hair, silently watching him, but not saying another word.

Amidst the silence, William suddenly said, "She washed my hair for me."

Cherish’s movements in wiping his hair paused slightly as she carefully pondered, then cautiously asked, "Your... mother?"

Of course not. She wasn’t clueless about the relationship between May Campbell and William; he wouldn’t be saddened by that.

Later, she realized it must have been his grandmother. Back then, when his grandmother passed away, William was very sad.

Cherish knew almost nothing about his grandmother, other than the fact that she had passed away. That day, he stood inside the elevator while she stood outside. He suddenly hugged her tightly and told her not to move. She vividly remembered that pleading tone and couldn’t forget it. She later found out the truth: it was the day his grandmother had died.

"She must’ve loved you very much," Cherish softened her gaze, gently wiping his half-dry black hair.

"I don’t know," William lowered his head, and after a while, he uttered faintly. His eyes were somewhat lost as fragments of memories resurfaced, vivid and alive. She had long black hair, her eyes curved when she smiled, and she liked to hold his hand. Her scent smelled like sunshine.

She proudly said: William, it seems like you’ve grown taller today.

She angrily said: William Griffith! Why did you fight with others? Didn’t I say you’re not allowed to fight?

She happily said: Our William is so great, the teacher praised you to grandma again today!

She said so many things, so many.

But the last words were only three—sorry.

From now on, grandma won’t be able to accompany you in the Griffith Family.
